This website ("Site") is owned and operated by Sally Beauty Supply LLC operating through its affiliate, Beauty Systems Group (Canada), Inc. (collectively, “Sally”, “we”, “our”, “us”). This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how we gather information about you when you visit our site, visit one of our stores or otherwise interact with us, how we use that information, and what steps we take to protect that information.

Please note that our Site, mobile application, and other products and services are not directed to residents of the province of Quebec.

Sally may change this Policy from time to time. Please check back periodically for up-to-date information about our privacy practices.

Personal Information

Personal information, as used in this Policy, means information about an identifiable individual.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

We may collect and use personal information when you:

Create an Account: You are not required to create an account to access or use our Site. If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address, name, phone number, and a password you create in order to create and administer your account. If you open an account, you may have access to the Sally Beauty Rewards (if you separately sign up for the program), order status, purchase history, and other benefits. We may also collect your address and payment information (which you can choose to keep on file) for the purpose of providing an easier checkout process. If you become aware of any unauthorized access to or use of your account, you are required to notify us immediately.

Sally Beauty Rewards Loyalty Program: If you choose to join our loyalty program, Sally Beauty Rewards, you are required to create an account as described above. We use this to create your loyalty account and administer your participation in the program as described fully here. We may also collect your birthdate (date and month) which may be used to send you a special offer on your birthday.

Purchases: You do not need to provide us with any personal information if you pay in cash for your products. However, if you purchase a product from us through another means, whether in store or online, we may collect your email address, name, shipping address, phone number, and your payment information (including billing address, credit card number, expiry date and CVV/CVC code) in order to process the transaction or issue you a refund. If you purchase a gift, we may collect the email address, name, shipping address, and phone number of the gift recipient in order to deliver your purchase.

Payment through a Payment Partner: We may offer you the ability to pay for purchases on our Site using a third-party, including PayPal, Apple Pay, or a third-party installment payment service such as Klarna, and we exchange information about your purchase with these parties in order to process your payment. If you choose to use PayPal or Klarna, you will be directed to their site to create an account and complete your transaction. If you use Klarna to pay for one or more of our products, we will transfer certain personal information to Klarna to help them create your account and/or provide you with installment payment services, such as your email address, name, billing address, phone number, and purchase information. You will be required to provide additional information to Klarna, such as your payment information. Your information will be treated in accordance with your separate agreement with Klarna.

Visiting Our Store: When you visit our locations, we may collect your image, recording, or movements through our devices in our stores or offices, such as Closed Circuit Television systems, or devices that monitor store traffic patterns. We may use such surveillance devices for loss prevention and security purposes.

Marketing Communications: If you sign up to receive our marketing emails or if we otherwise have your consent, we will collect and use your email address to send you messages about new products, special offers and other information that may be of interest to you based on your preferences, purchases and interests. If you no longer wish to receive these communications, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included at the bottom of the email. Alternatively, you can opt-out of receiving our marketing messages, including postal mailings, by contacting us at the contact information under “Contact Us” below. Please note that you may continue to receive certain transactional or account-related communications from us, such as your receipt or online order confirmation. We may also use services provided by third-party platforms (such as social networking and other websites) to serve tailored advertisements on such platforms to you or others and we may provide a hashed version of your email address or other information to the platform provider for such purposes. Product Reviews or “Ask a Question” Feature: If you write a product review on our Site or ask us a question about a product through our Site, we will collect your email address and name for the purpose of posting your review or question on our Site, contacting you about your review or question, and verifying that you purchased the product or are an authorized reviewer. Send-to-a-Friend Feature: Our Site enables you to send links to our products to your friends. If you use this feature of our Site, we will collect your email address, name, your friend’s email address and name, and the content of the message that you may send to your friend through this offering. If you use this feature, we rely on you to ensure that your friend is interested in receiving the message you send to them.

Contests and Promotions: When you enter a contest or participate in a promotion, we may collect your email address, name, address, phone number, and any additional information or content required for the contest or promotion, such as information you post on social media. We use this information to administer your participation in the contest or promotion, including prize fulfillment. As part of a contest or promotion, we may obtain your consent to share or otherwise publish the content you submit.

Surveys: From time to time, we may offer you the opportunity to participate in one of our surveys. The information obtained through our surveys is used in an aggregated, de-identified form. We use this information to help us understand our customers, enhance our Site and improve our products and services.

Social Media: If you interact with us on social media or use features, such as plugins, widgets, or other tools made available by social media platforms or networks (including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google, You Tube, and Pinterest) in connection with our Site, we may collect information you share with us, or that the social media platforms share with us (e.g., email address, name, username) in order to provide you with the feature. For more information about the privacy practices of those social media platforms, please review the privacy policies and settings of the social media platforms and networks that you use.

Careers: If you apply for a job with us, you may provide us with certain personal information about yourself, such as information contained in a resume, cover letter, or similar employment-related materials. We use this information for the purpose of processing and responding to your application and assessing your suitability for employment.

Contact Us: When you contact us with a comment, question or complaint or complete our customer service form online, you may be asked for information that identifies you, such as your email address, name, and phone number, along with additional information we need to help us answer your question or respond to your comment. We may retain this information to assist you in the future and to improve our customer service and service offerings. Please note that we may record calls into our offices, customer service team, and stores for quality assurance and training purposes. If you do not wish for your calls to be recorded, please contact us via email.

Find a Location: If you search for a store on our Site, we collect your postal code or city or province, or your precise geolocation (with your consent), in order to provide you with information on nearby stores. We do not use this information for other purposes.

When you provide us with personal information it will be used for the purposes described above, as well as for the purposes of managing and improving our business operations, mitigating privacy and security risk, and meeting legal, recordkeeping, compliance obligations (e.g. to collect and remit appropriate sales tax; exercise or defend legal claims; and/or report to regulators/government entities) and as otherwise described to you at the point of collection or otherwise with your consent.

Personal Information Sharing

We may share information about you to our service providers or other processors to perform services on our behalf.

  • We use a variety of service providers (including affiliates) to help us perform routine business functions. Those include payment processing; printing services; delivery services and couriers; administration of Sally Beauty Rewards, marketing messages, surveys, and contests/sweepstakes; software and technology providers; staff augmentation; and companies that provide analytics and advertising services.
  • Companies who help us improve the efficiency and quality of our Site, business operations, products, and services and debug, identify, and repair errors that impair the intended functionality of our Site.

For your protection we require, or these companies are otherwise obligated, to keep all personal information confidential. Our service providers are only provided with the information they need to perform their designated functions and are not authorized to use or disclose personal information for their own marketing or other purposes.

We may also disclose some or all of the information that we collect as permitted or required by law. For example, we may share information:

  • With a third party payment option to facilitate applying for and paying through for your purchase through such third party.
  • When we believe in good faith that the disclosure is required to prevent harm or injury, or a perceived physical threat to any individual (such as product recalls, claims, or other liability).
  • For physical security, cybersecurity, incident response, and risk reduction purposes.
  • To respond to a subpoena or other valid legal inquiry.
  • With regulatory authorities and law enforcement officials.
  • To investigate a breach of an agreement or contravention of law; to detect, suppress or prevent fraud; and where otherwise necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • As part of a potential or completed merger, acquisition, or sale of or transfer of some or all of the business involving Sally.
  • With other parties and purposes communicated to you at the time of collection.

Protection of Personal Information

We have appropriate physical, technical, and procedural security safeguards to protect and secure the information we collect. However, no website, mobile app, or the systems they depend on are completely secure. You are also responsible for taking steps to protect your personal information against unauthorized disclosure or misuse.

  • We work to protect the security of your personal information during transmission by using encryption protocols and software.
  • We follow the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) when handling credit card data.
  • We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage, and disclosure of personal information. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.

Retention of Personal Information

We have record retention processes designed to retain personal information for no longer than necessary for the purposes set out herein or as otherwise required to meet legal or business requirements.

Information Automatically Collected

We use cookies, pixels, and other technologies to collect personal information automatically through your use of the Site as described below in the section titled Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising.

Site Usage Information & Analytics: When you use the Site we may collect information regarding your interaction with features on the Site; your internet protocol (IP) address; your general location; your device operating system and browser type; your referring website’s address; information on your interaction with a website or application including mouse movements, clicks, user inputs, scrolling, access times, visit duration, pages viewed, and page reloading; and your clickstream through the Site. We use this information for the purposes of improving our Site and to better understand our Site visitors. Also, see our section titled Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising below.

Information from Other Sources: Updated address information, trip information, or delivery status from delivery services; and information from third parties to improve our marketing or prevent fraud.

Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising

Our Site uses cookies, web server logs, tags, SDKs, tracking pixels, local storage, JavaScript, APIs, and other similar technologies from time to time.

  • Cookies are small data files a website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your device, sometimes with a code unique to your device. They may be served by the entity that operates the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by other companies (“third-party cookies”). Cookies enable us and our vendors to recognize your computer; store your preferences, settings, and other data; understand the web pages you have visited on our Site and elsewhere; enhance your user experience by delivering and measuring the effectiveness of content and advertising tailored to your interests; perform searches and analytics; and assist with security and administrative functions.
  • A web server log is a file where online activity is stored. It may be used for similar purposes.
  • An SDK is a set of tools and/or code that we embed in our applications and software to perform certain functions, such as allowing us or third parties to collect information about how users interact with our Site.
  • Tags or tracking pixels (sometimes also referred to as web beacons or clear GIFs) are small code (sometimes containing, generating, or detecting a unique identifier) embedded in websites, online ads, and email, that can be used for purposes such as generating web server logs or reading or writing cookies for the purposes described above.

We also use third party session replay tools that use cookies and other technologies to collect information about your device and your behaviour on our Site in order to show us how you interact with our Site. The information collected includes information on what you see during your visit and actions you take when navigating our Site (e.g. clicks, mouse movements, hovers, page visits, scrolling, but not your keystroke data) as well as your device screen size, device type, browser information, and session duration. We use this information to optimize the user experience on our website, measure your engagement, and help us identify errors on our Site.

Analytics

We may also use certain third-party web and mobile app analytics services – including but not limited to Google Analytics and Facebook Custom Audiences – to help us understand and analyze how visitors use the Site and serve ads on our behalf across the Internet and in different channels.

Interest-Based Advertising

From time to time, we may work with third parties such as ad networks and other advertising companies that use their own tracking technologies (including cookies, web beacons and pixel tags) on our Site in order to provide you with tailored advertisements across the Internet. This is a common marketing practice referred to as interest-based or online behavioural advertising. These companies may collect information about your activity on our Site and third-party websites (such as web pages you visit and your interaction with our advertising and other communications) and use this information to make predictions about your preferences, develop personalized content and deliver ads that are more relevant to you on third-party websites. This information may also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our online advertising campaigns.

Your Choices

You can control or limit how we and our partners use cookies and similar technologies, including for advertising.

  • While most browsers and devices accept cookies by default, the settings usually allow you to clear or decline cookies. If you disable cookies, some of the features of our Site may not function properly. For example, if you do not allow cookies at all, you might not be able to view some of our Site or use certain features like adding products to your shopping cart.
  • To learn more about interest-based advertising, or to opt-out of receiving online display advertisements tailored to your interests by from participating companies, visit the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada.
  • To adjust your preferences or exercise control over the third parties who collect data on our Site for interest-based advertising purposes, scroll down to the footer and click Cookie Settings to adjust the cookie settings on your device and browser, or you may enable the Global Privacy Control signal that may be available in certain browsers and extensions. This action is limited to the device and web browser you are using because the methods detailed above correspond to your device or browser ID. If you use another device or browser, you need to take this action on each device and browser.

  • To opt out of ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Pinterest, or Google that are targeted to your interests, use your Meta, Pinterest, or Google Ads settings.

Please note that even if you opt-out of tailored advertising by a third-party, these tracking technologies may still collect data for other purposes including analytics and you will still see ads from us, but the ads will not be targeted based on behavioural information about you and may therefore be less relevant to you and your interests.

Transmission Outside of Canada

Personal information may be transmitted to the corporate offices of Sally in the United States for processing and storage in furtherance of the identified purposes for which it was collected. In some cases, personal information may be transmitted to or accessed by third-party service providers who may by located in the United States, Philippines, or European Union who are acting as our agents in providing certain services, such as providing customer service or sending promotional mailings. These service providers are subject to certain safeguards and are not authorized to use personal information for other purposes. Personal Information processed in the United States or other jurisdictions may be lawfully accessed by U.S. or foreign courts, law enforcement, national security agencies or other government authorities. You may direct any questions that you may have regarding the use, disclosure or storage of your personal information (including the treatment of your information by service providers located outside of Canada) by our us to our Privacy Officer.

GeoLocation

Most browsers and mobile devices allow users to enable or disable geolocation using pop-ups or controls located in the settings menu. If you have permitted Sally to access your geolocation data, you may disable the access by adjusting the permissions in your browser or device.

Maintenance of Accurate Information

We have established commercially reasonable procedures designed to ensure that your personal information is as accurate and complete as possible. If you believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you, please update said records by logging into your account here or by contacting us here.

Access to and Correction of Personal Information

Subject to limited exceptions under applicable law, you have the right to access, update and correct inaccuracies in your personal information in our custody or control.

  • For personal information that isn’t available through your online account, you can request access or updating here.

We may request certain personal information for the purpose of verifying the identity of the individual seeking access to their personal information records.

Withdraw Consent

You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual requirements.

  • To adjust your preferences or exercise control over the third parties who collect data on our Site for interest-based advertising purposes on our Site, please scroll down to the footer and click Cookie Settings to adjust the cookie settings on your device and browser. Also, see the section titled Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising above.
  • As indicated above, if you have signed up to receive our email communications, you can unsubscribe any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included at the bottom of the email. Alternatively, if you no longer wish to receive marketing emails or mail from us, you can contact us here. Include a statement requesting that you wish to opt out of email and/or mail promotions. Even if you opt out of receiving marketing communications from us, we may still contact you for transactional purposes. For example, we may contact you to fulfill your order, provide customer service, or communicate product recalls.
  • To opt out of our sharing of your hashed email address or other information with social networking sites and other third-party platforms for the purposes of serving tailored advertisements to you or others (including Facebook Custom Audiences), please click here, and select the Opt-Out option.
  • If you want to terminate your Sally Beauty Rewards account, click here. Include a statement requesting that you wish to terminate your Sally Beauty Rewards account. By terminating your account, you will lose all outstanding points, reward coupons, and status.
  • If you wish to withdraw consent for any purpose not mentioned here, please contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@sallybeauty.com.

Deletion

We’ll delete your Personal Information upon request. However, we may not be able to honor that request to the extent the information is required to process your payments or returns; fulfill your order; or comply with tax, audit, legal, or regulatory requirements. To submit a deletion request, click here.

Deleting your information will cancel membership in Sally Beauty Rewards, and you will lose all outstanding points, reward coupons, and status.
