Additional Information

  • Use for hair that is:
  • Too weak or fine to take a perm or relaxer
  • Is mushy when wet and brittle after drying
  • Breaks when combed or brushed
  • Will not hold color
  • Is over bleached

This unique treatment is formulated with magnesium and modified proteins which fuse into the hair with the application of heat. The result is that breakage is drastically reduced. During the process, ApHogee treatment hardens into the hair, dramatic evidence that something special is occurring. Restores lost moisture and hair becomes more manageable, flexible and strong. Breakage and split ends stop while hair looks and feels better.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 56 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for my 4c hair I had avoided protein conditioners because they left my hair hard and straw like, but I saw good reviews about this product from women with my hair type. My hair has been soft, but broke easily during de tangling and styling. After using this product my hair was soft but felt stronger. I noticed less breakage during detangling and styling. It took almost an hour to become stiff on my hair since I didn't add heat. I will be using once a month. December 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Effective, Inexpensive and Easy! After repeated coloring, bleaching, and keratin treatments, my hair was breaking/tangling/splitting when dry and felt squishy when wet -- indications that my hair needed a protein treatment. Having used other protein treatments ranging from $20 to $150, I am blown away with the results. My hair feels like my hair again, shinier, less tangled and significantly softer. Unlike the numerous negative comments, I found the entire process easy (40 minutes in total), didn't detect any offensive odor, and appreciate the marked improvement to my hair. If your hair needs protein, this definitely worth a try -- thanks, Aphogee. November 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It really works I bleach, need i say more. This product helps me keep my hair long without dramatic breakage. Helps keep my blonde locks nice and long and most of all Strong... It works! March 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved my hair I bleached my hair 4 times in 1 month, it has always been dry but after the bleaching it was a nightmare, mushy, extremely dry, it felt like noodles, it was so bad I couldn't even comb it. I tried a lot of treatments and although they worked a little it wasn't what I was looking for so I decided to cut it (I had shoulder lenght and ended with a pixie cut) but it was still damaged, and then I found this product so I decided to give it a try after reading the reviews and doing some research. WOW, I didn't have high expectations because I thought that my only solution was to shave my head, but this worked so good, I followed the directions carefully and after washing it out I could feel the difference, I was able to comb my hair again!!! It's still damaged but I knew that it would take more than one application. I'm now in the 5th week and I can't wait to use it again, even my husband felt the difference. I would definitely recommend this product, actually I tell all my friends about it. It does smells a little but it's not that bad. I'm really sensitive and some scents cause me migraines but this didn't. March 8, 2015

(4a,4c). I have been natural for almost 3 years, but my hair seems to be lacking something, my sister in law went natural after I did and her hair is so soft, curly and shine oh and long, mines is brittle dull life less and short. I did dye my hair with the Creme of Nature a reddish blonde, my natural color hair is a mousy brown, after that I notice a lot of breakage. I was told to try Aphogee or some type of protein in my hair, I'm a little scaried that my hair will fall out or I want get the correct results ( more damage) oh and by the way I don't use heat in my hair can someone please help me direct me in the right direction.
Thank you Peace and Love

Not sure if someone answered your question but yes! I'm natural(transitioning from heat damage :[ ) and I use it all the time. As long as you follow the directions EXAXTLY, you'll be fine. You CANNOT comb/brush/ manipulate the hair once the treatment is in, or your hair will break. I put it in in sections, and detangle as I go. Once it's started to dry just leave it, rinse, use the moisturizer it came with and deep condition if necessary!! Good luck on your journey :)

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, this is definitely safe for natural hair! Just make sure to follow instructions as printed on the packaging and you should be good to go! Natural customers make up the largest segment of purchasers for this product.

(On official site) ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment strengthens most hair approximately six weeks. In contrast, most other treatments and conditioners are removed with two or three washings. Because of this, the recommended frequency for ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment is once every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair maintenance regimen. If applied more often, it’s unlikely that any further benefit will be obtained.

I bleached my hair twice, in the last two months. The first time I died my hair pink, and purple, the semi-color didn't stay very well. Than I decided to go red, and used a permanent red dye, the dye washed out in a week, I decided to try another red and see if it stuck, no such luck. Now the red is washing out pretty quickly so I've decided to go back to my natural color which is very dark brown to black, but I want to make sure the dye I use will stay in my hair and evenly coat it. Please help.

A:
When you lighten your hair you remove color pigment from it so there are small "potholes" so to speak which allow for any new pigment introduced to fall out more quickly. The best way to prevent this from happening is to wash your hair with cold water, use only sulfate free color safe shampoos and if you're wanting to go back to a dark color get a "filler" that reintroduces some of the pigments that you had naturally prior to lightening. This will help you hair seem healthier and ensure the color will last longer.

You should probably strip all color from your hair first, then let it rest for a week. Then you should be able to apply whatever color you want and it will stick. Just be very careful about any conditioners you apply before coloring. In the past, i have found that taking any antibiotics within a week or so before coloring my hair gave me very poor results. You might check out any medications you take. They might be impacting your hair color results.

Ion Swimmer's shampoo & conditioner are just that. They are NOT a filler. I'm not a professional, but had a problem in the past with coloring my hair blonde for years & finally decided to go back to my natural color. It would wash out after about 2 washes until I used a filler. Ask the staff at Sally's what filler & hair color that they recommend to get back to a darker hair color. I only had to use a filler once. But I also used Porosity Control conditioner for a couple months afterwards & have had no trouble since--it has been years now.
