Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Didn't work at all didn't cover my old hair color at all washed out with the rinse out

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Contains Aminomethyl Propanol and PEG-50 Hydrogenated Palmamide ** This review is for the light ash brown color ** The second ingredient in the light ash brown color is aminomethyl propanol and the third ingredient is PEG-50 hydrogenated palmamide. These ingredients are cousins to ammonia and hydrogen peroxide respectively. This means that this color is *not deposit only* and it has lift. If you color your hair often or have sensitive hair, you want to avoid this product. I used it frequently for over eight months to color gray between salon visits. During this time, my hair became dry/brittle and much of it broke off. Since I'd switched shampoo and conditioner around the same time that I began using the color, it took time for me to determine that this color was the source of the damage to my hair. On the positive side, the shade is good. It is a dark blond/light brown and it is golden (not red or brassy). If you use it infrequently and have sturdy hair, it may be a good product for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from allergic to PPD- this is a lifesaver I'm allergic to PPD/resorcinol so I can't use regular hairdye. To hide my whites, I get regular highlights and use the honey brown for low lights. I have the salon use the champagne as the toner. Thank you for this product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product This is a great alternative for those who are allergic to semi permanent hair dyes containing p-phenylenediamine. This product does not contain this ingredient.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as expected As a former hairdresser, when a color is shown as champagne blonde & a neutral, I expect it be just that. This is not a neutral. It has far too many golden tones. Thank goodness it was a semi-perm. color and a toner shampoo eventually corrected the color. I will not go by color online but will go to the store next time. Maybe that will help. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Wish it had better directions as a newbie. I have virgin dark blonde hair. This light red brown gave it a great dark strawberry color. I am in love. I just died it today so I am not a good reference to how long it lasts. I plan to do this once a month. It was so easy, and it doesn't cost a fortune or damage your hair. Mine was a little dry after I rinsed it out, but I put my deep conditioner on it and it is back to normal! Again love the color.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not much color - No gray coverage I have used Ion semi-permanent dyes for refreshing my hair color for a long time. Last time I was in Sally I decided to try Clairol Beautiful Collection. It doesn't work for my hair. I used shade Black to add a little tone to my color, and hopefully blend in my stubborn gray roots. This didn't cover my grays, and my hair wasn't even soft and shiny like it is after the Ion semi-permanent. I have coarse, low-porosity, 3b curly hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Brunettes Rule This collection was suggested to me by my stylist YEARS ago. I used it for a while and then stopped to have my hair processed by professionals. In due time, my hair became dull and frizzy. I had always had beautiful hair and when my sister told me how awful my hair looked, I was devastated. I decided to go back to this collection to give my hair the break it needed from all the processing. Just yesterday a gentleman said to me, (while shopping), "You have the most beautiful hair. I could get lost in it for hours!" Oh my Gosh! I was so flabbergasted!

Can I use this product over previously dyed permanent hair color? I have light blonde on my grey hair. Would this product in "Champagne Blond" be the safest color match?

Asked by: Nikki Tennison
Yes you can, the only thing you have to apply it more often. It start to fade out the hair about the third week or how often you are shampooing (wetting) hair

I'm dirty blonde now and I want to go lighter without bleaching it. Will this take my hair lighter or is it just used for darkening?

Asked by: emilygrace23
This has no peroxide in it; it doesn't lighten hair.

How long does this last

Asked by: Bombfirhair
I use various shades of Clairol's Beautiful collection to concoct my own unique shade. Because I have some greys, I add Ardell's Gray Magic to the mix. A LOT of Gray Magic (they say so many drops; I use half of the small bottle per three bottles of Clairol's Beautiful, all sloshed together in a squeeze bottle.) I wrap my hair in saran wrap, and keep it on about an hour. The color fades, but so gradually that you can only tell it's dyed by the roots that grow in. It's as natural as it gets, and I have to redye because of the roots, not because the dye disappears. (And by the way, if you have greys, you'll love this dye - it makes the greys look like natural highlighting! Love, love, love Clariol's Beautiful collection!)

Does this hair color have an expiration date? Can I use half the bottle now and other half later?

Asked by: Allmostangell
I buy several shades to mix together, and because they're sometimes hard to find, I buy them in bulk. I'm just finishing the last three bottles. I looked up when I bought them - it was over two years ago! The dye was, as usual, absolutely perfect. I wouldn't worry about expiration dates with this product, assuming you'll be using it within, say, five years!

Can I use the clairol beautiful collection on my natural hair?

Asked by: Neicybug
Yes, but since there's no developer, you can only use the color to tone or darken, not get lighter/brighter

Asked by: Missyher
You will need to use a hair color remover.
