Once you have your extensions in place, proper care will keep them looking great. Remember, gentle treatment is important. Ask your stylist for complete instructions on how to care for and style your extensions. Here are some tips.
• Extension Care - Before washing, first brush through hair extensions carefully, removing all tangles. Wet hair, then gently shampoo in a downward motion. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner. Blot hair gently before applying a leave-in conditioner to keep hair soft. Be careful not to over apply, to prevent build-up and tangling. Avoid styling products that contain alcohol. Before going to bed, make sure hair is completely dry. Wrap hair or gently tie it up to prevent tangling. Use a satin sleep cap or a satin pillow case to prevent friction and tangling.
• Extension Styling - To style extensions, use a soft boar bristle brush,or a smooth styling comb. Start at the ends and gently work your way up, brushing or combing in a downward motion. It’s best to let extensions air dry. Heated styling appliances can be used, but ONLY on 100% human hair extensions. There is at least one exception. Sassy Futura is a heat-resistant synthetic fiber hair that is curling iron and blowdryer safe, but using a medium heat setting is recommended. Always do a test curl first, due to the different heat output of irons. Heated curling or straightening irons should NEVER be used on other synthetic hair. Avoid overuse of heat-stylers as it will shorten the life of human hair extensions. All hair extensions have gone through a very intense chemical color process to get to their final color, so changing the color with hair color will not produce accurate results.
