How does sun exposure affect my color-treated hair? |
 |
Sun exposure can fade color treated hair, just as it can lighten natural hair. Hair that has been treated with permanent haircolor, and especially hair that has been lightened, is also more vulnerable to damage because the hair cuticle has already been roughed up by the color process and sun exposure can lead to further dryness. To protect your color-treated hair from fading and dryness, use a hair care regimen specially formulated for color-treated hair.
TRY: Coloresse not only features the latest in color protection, but also offers gentle, sulfate-free cleansing and conditioning in three formulas: Moisture for normal to dry hair, Volume for fine, thin hair, and Rescue for severely dry and damaged hair. The line also includes high-performance styling products that further protect hair color.

Why does my hair turn brassy or greenish after I swim? |
 |
Chlorine and bromine in pool water can interact with hair color to create a green cast. Sun exposure combined with salt water minerals can leave color-treated hair brassy, dry, and brittle. In either case, rinse hair in fresh water before swimming so it absorbs less of the pool or sea water. Then, rinse your hair in fresh water immediately after swimming, and, if possible, use a clarifying shampoo and protective conditioner.
TRY: Keep your haircolor protected while enjoying the water, sand, and sun! Ion Anti-Chlorine Swimmer’s Shampoo is a gentle, sulfate-free formula that helps remove swimmer’s green and is safe to use every day, even on color-treated hair. Follow it up with Ion Anti-Chlorine Swimmer’s Conditioner, formulated with antioxidants and botanicals that prevent a build-up of pool or spa chemicals and hard water minerals, leaving hair silky-soft and manageable.

Help! After a week at the beach, my color-treated hair color has faded and feels like straw! |

Constant exposure to sun, salt water and/or chlorine will take a toll on color-treated hair. To restore hair texture, softness, and strength, use a deep-conditioning hair masque that combines moisturizers and proteins. To refresh your color, use non-damaging semi-permanent hair color.
TRY: Turn damaged hair into beautiful, strong hair with Beyond The Zone Last Call Hair Masque. This all-in-one conditioner strengthens, nourishes, and repairs damaged hair, leaving it soft and smooth. Use it after every shampoo. Easy-to-apply Ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Hair Color contains no ammonia or peroxide, so there’s no damage to your hair. It is perfect for gray-blending and subtle color enhancement, and if you use Ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Hair Color, you’ll find the perfect match!
