Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifted my hair from a med red to a med blonde I brought the Ash Blonde since I had red hair before I used it. The ash blonde worked great with lifting and helping to tone the red. I highly recommend the Ash Blonde. I've also used the reds and they work wonderful as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works the way it's supposed too I have always wanted a carmel or blonde hair but I've died my hair red the past two years to I color stripped me hair and put honey blonde on my hair and it came out very close to the swatch at the store and I'm very pleased(I have medium length hair and thick hair as well and bought 3 boxes and used 40 developer)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work Waste of money...didn't work at all. Bought three shades to do an ombré, the only thing that happened was the brown LIT my roots up to a copper/brassy color (which it says it won't do)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I bought three ash blondes and three honey blondes boxes in hopes to get a blonde outcome at least ... after spending 30+ dollars I got a dark brown outcome .. very disappointed would've been better off just bleaching my hair

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met my Expectations I have dark brown hair and I have always wanted to add cute colors in, but have always been fearful of bleaching after hearing so many negative comments. I finally found this product and thought to give it a try to lighten my hair. I did sections rather than my whole head and used a 30 developer. The color wasn't intense but I could definitely see the golden tone, but this is also my first time coloring my hair so I applied it thinly. After I added some turquoise and for the first time ever I finally have color in my hair and it pops! As far as maintenance I don't know what to expect but I had to make sure to make a comment on this product because it changed everything! Next I want to try a lighter blonde to see how much of a difference I can get. So Excited!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read For Best Results FYI- This is suppose to be used on virgin hair, so for those of you using it on your pre-dyed hair, its obviously going to be a little brassy. The roots of my hair lifted with the ash blond with no red at all. How i used this.... I have dark brown hair naturally, but dyed it lighter last summer, then darker a couple months later. DAY 1: If you have previously dyed hair, i would suggest stripping the hair color out first. DON'T BLEACH IT OUT. I know this from experience and learned the hard way lol. your hair should be a nasty orange by then, but still in good shape. USE A DEEP CONDITIONER OR HAIR MASK AFTER THIS & leave in for at least 40min. DAY 2: If you use the ash blonde over it, it should be a medium golden blonde. I used the Wella toner in T18 over that to cancel some of the yellowy color out. On my hair i should have actually waited a day and used another bottle of the ash blond to lift it some more, which i'm going to do in a couple of days. Right now its a mix of light grey, ash blonde, and golden blonde. I've gotten so many compliments on it though. This process was soooo much better on my hair than bleaching the color out first. I'm sure if i had never dyed my hair, i could have achieved this color in a lot less steps, but im just happy that my hair feels as healthy as it did before.

I put the ash blonde into some developer and put it on a strip of my hair for an hour and nothing showed up, my hair is dark virgin brown hair and was freshly cut yesterday, what should I do?

Asked by: faithxcx
From my knowledge. If you use a higher developer it'll help lift up your hair color. I have Dark hair, i would personally use a 40 developer & leave in for 30 mins. Remember that wet hair usually looks darker than dry hair. Also the higher the developer the more shades itll lift. When i try to go lighter i either use a 30 or 40 developer (depending on the color). If i try a reddish color i use a 20 or 30 and if i ever want to go back to dark brown/black i would use a 10. Ect.

Is there a certain Developer to use with this product to get great results?

Asked by: Shelby514
I use 40 v cream for my roots , but my natural color is dark brown. Every other month I put a few foils of ash blond with 5-10 vol to tone down the brassiness

How well would Ash Blonde turn up on dark auburn hair with a 40 developer?

Asked by: Anonymous
Dark auburn hair has a lot of red pigment you will lift to a caramel blondish color but that's about it. If your hair is dyed this color it won't lift at all. Artificial Color does not lift Artificial color unless you have bleached your hair and stripped the pigment out. All you will do is cause a lot of damage to your hair and you will not achieve the desired shade. You must prelighten to be blonde because any shade above a level 8 does not have any red.

Is this product ready to use? I ask since i usualy buy the once at grocery stores such ad feria ready to use. Any info is highly apreciated. Thankyou.

Asked by: Kariz90011
typically no, none of sally beauty's products are really ready to use. you have to buy a developer and mix it yourself. if you go into the store and buy it, you can get a expert opinion on which to use.

Okay so would this product lighten jet black hair?

Asked by: Anonymous
Put OOPS on your hair first it will take all the black dye out. Then use 2 shades lighter than the color you want with HiColor. I had tried bleach an all it did was ruin my hair an make it a fiery red. Oops doesn't have bleach or peroxide. Look at some videos on YouTube.

Does this work on greys ?

Hello and thank you for your question. We do not advise using this product on grey hair because it is formulated specifically for consumers with very dark hair.

can you use this after you have dyed your hair before

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. Strip that hair color out first though. DON'T BLEACH IT OUT. If you don't, it will come out brassy, just like any other blonde hair dye, and your hair will be a lot more damaged and weighed down.

How many boxes would I need for my hair and extensions?

I have pretty short hair, just goes past my shoulders, and it's not very thick, but I also have 18 inch real human hair extensions. I saw a review on youtube and a girl said she had to use 6 boxes and her hair was just a little bit longer than mine, but that seems pretty ridiculous. help?
Asked by: Anonymous
My hair is down to my belly button medium thickness, and i only needed 2 bottles. However i had to go over it again to get a more ash blonde color, so it ended up being 4 bottles. Either she didn't mix it with the developer properly, or she had to go over it again like i did. Id say go for 3 bottles. 2 for your hair, and one for the extension. you'll probably still have some left over.
