Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instructions are wrong "Do I have time to color my hair tonight?" I thought as I scanned the directions. Sure. So I twisted off the cap of the developer bottle, grabbed tube 3, as the instructions said, and squeezed. Then I turn over the remaining tube, expecting to see step 4, conditioner, when I realize that step 3, in my hand (well, now in my bottle of developing cream) is the conditioner and STEP 2 is the color cream. I guess we'll see what happens when you mix developer, color, and conditioner all at once! You've got your bottles (or instructions) misnumbered, L'Oréal

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't change anything I bought this along with the dark blonde and spent and hour doing it and nothing changed. My hair looked exactly the same I'm so frustrated, I spent alot of money and time because my hair is long and thick and it didn't do anything very disappointing. The cheaper brands are better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellence Dark Ash Brown (4A) I loved my natural medium-to-dark ash brown hair color but have been going gray over the past decade, so I reluctantly caved and started at-home coloring a year and a half ago. I've had terrible luck with L'Oreal Preference and other brands' "ash" and "cool" shades throwing unnatural orange/red tones, especially in bright light. I recently tried Excellence Dark Ash Brown (4A) as a last resort before giving up altogether or having a professional hairstylist fix my hair. The final result brought my hair back to a natural ash brown color plus stuck to my stubborn grays! My hair also feels thicker and healthier than with other products I've tried. Be forewarned through that hair initially may turn out very dark (almost black) in the root areas that do not receive the pre-conditioning treatment and receive the full application time (30-40 min), but after a few washes it will look amazing. I used a clarifying shampoo at first then switched back to my usual color-safe, sulfate-free products once the color lightened a bit. The compliments keep coming and I'm so happy to love my hair color again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Protective Haircolor with Consistent Results I've been using Excellence 8G for years off and on with intermittent Preference 8G. While I much prefer the color for Preference 8G has over Excellence 8G, the conditioning of this product is excellent. Using the pre-conditioning creme on my ends helps protect them from extreme absorption and I get more complements using L'oreal hair color than I've ever gotten from any salon, even ones costing $150+ for color and highlighting. The color is consistently good and application is easier in creme form than liquid (Preference) for those novices out there worried they won't be able to do it themselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't leave your hair dryer and brittle I love this hair color. I have been using the shade 01- high lift extra light natural ash blonde for 2 + years now. I love the pre treatment to protect the ends of your hair from damage and condition. My hair always feels thicker and very conditioned after dying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Brunette by far! I have been using L'Oreal Excellence Creme for 15 years or more. I toy with lighter and darker shades, sometimes add some red. But when I recently wanted to go back to something closer to my natural color, I found the Medium Maple Brown and it is perfect!!! Not brassy, red, not too light or dark. My hair shines so much! Please don't discontinue this color it's my new Natural!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I was not satisfied with the other hair coloring I was using, so decided to try Excelllence Creme. It is great. The product itself was thicker and creamier then my old product. It covered the gray and made my hair fuller and softer. Very happy with the results.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It didn't lighten my hair color The ash shades have too much ash in them, turned out to be a mousey color instead of anything close to the color on the box.

What color to use

If I currently use boxed Feria 45 what color would I select to match this?
Asked by: Anonymous

Since you don't have any browns in your HiLites collections, can this be used instead? I'm looking for a chestnut brown color and my base color is black with gray roots. Thank you
