Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Well - Smells Awful I have very short dyed platinum hair and this product works well to give it a cooler tone. I apply enough to dampen my dry hair. (It takes a lot even for a pixie cut - it is very watery, as other reviews reviews have noted.) If I miss a spot in this step, it is kind of noticeable once my hair dries. I leave it on for about 5 minutes, then add a dollop of shampoo, lather, and rinse. It doesn’t do much to soften my hair, but the color effect is good. It’s a lousy conditioner. But the coloration effect is good. I have to mention the scent. It is /strong/, and a little nauseating. It makes my hair smell like the dish rag at a bar - stale Coke and disappointment. I wish I could find a product that would have the same coloring effect, without making me smell like a

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best for blonde hair This conditioner along with the shimmer lights shampoo is the best to refresh bleach blonde hair. I use it with the shampoo about once a week and you can actually see the blonde come back immediately after using. It makes your hair really soft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good toning, terrible conditioning I really like how vibrant this conditioner leaves my highlights. It helps cancel out the brassy tones for sure. However, it is not a good conditioner. My hair feels dried out after using this, so I usually just mix it with a moisturizing conditioner, or use a regular conditioner after this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but knotty I love the shampoo and conditioner from shimmer lights! I just feel like my hair is more knotty after I use it. Nothing I can't get past though. And I feel like I smell like an old lady after using

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brightest blonde I've had toner shampoos and conditioners before but this is the first one that got my hair to the brightest level it could be - while still keeping it healthy feeling.

I like what this stuff does, but the smell is strong and /extremely/ distracting. Is there another product that does the same thing, but doesn’t smell like stale Coke?

If I dye my hair purple/blue will this help maintain the color?

Asked by: lyssi123
No, this is intended to keep brights blondes, silvers, grays, and white hair their brightest.  I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't do anything for purple hair.

Will this turn my white hair blue or blue tones?

Asked by: Turningwhite
If you follow the directions it shouldn't but if you are wanting it to have blue tones I suggest leaving it in your hair overnight and shampooing out in the morning.  I do this every now and then when I want a bit of fun colour - leaves a soft blue/grey tint.

My natural hair is beginning to grey with a dullness in the front and sides of my hairline. I don't plan on dying. Is this product good to use to get rid of the dullness?

Asked by: LadyLill
I would probably say no. This product tones down blonde hair with a purple cast making it more an ash color and reducing gold hues.

I have read all the reviews and I'm debating on trying this product out. My hair is multi shaded with blonde, strawberry, a orangish shade and light brown. So curious, will unwanted red/orangish tones end up resulting Blonde/silver/purplish tones over time

Asked by: Kristi84
I would say that this shampoo/conditioner is meant to take the brassyness out of the blonde or silver that is in your hair or you put in it not for turning your hair to blonde or silver. It is meant to clean up and enhance the blonde or silver.

Does this take off the orange?because my highlights look orange.

Asked by: Tinaaaaaaaaa
You may need to either bleach more or tone your hair again. Buy this shampoo and conditioner. Leave the conditioner on for about 45 minutes with a shower cap on and see if that helps. Try the Shimmer Lights first.

Will this take the yellow out of my white gray hair without turning it blue?

Asked by: beckey 85
Absolutely does not turn your hair blue. My hair has light blonde highlights and natural gray highlights. The conditioner does an excellent of blending the highlights and gray to a soft blonde color.
