Color Charm Powder Lightener is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lifted black box dye.. I wanted to do an ombre/balyage. I have black box dye in my hair from a year ago. My natural hair color is dark brown. So I went to Sally's... I bought 2 little packs the first trip (4 packs in total). I had developer 20 saved up so I used that. I lifted to like a red/orange. So 2nd try, I bought two packets and a 30 developer.. I lifted way more. It left me with a more brassy orangey/golden blonde. I liked it but I wanted blonde. A cool neutral blonde. I also felt like I went way to up past my ears. So I don't know how to go over it w/o going up more. ➡️ my hair feels fine through both process. It was just a little drying. But I don't really condition my hair often so maybe it's just me. ⬅️ I also toned my hair after the second round of bleach. I used a developer 10 and lightest ash blonde. P.S I bought dark brown box dye and went down on my ombre hair beginning to fix the harsh lines. Which I think helped so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I dye my hair all kinds of colors, so when I want to go from dark green to pastel purple, it can be a little tricky. Using this with 30 volume creme, my stubborn green lifted to mint so easily! Even without a toner, a lot of my hair lifted to a bright white. I'm very pleased with this bleach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works quick, great for pre-lightening before coloring I've had a lot of experience with bleach, and this was probably one of my most pleasant ones. My hair was previously bright purple on top/medium brown underneath and on the roots. When I decided to touch up my hair, I decided to just redo my whole head to ensure the color matched. I had never tried this before (although I love other Wella products), so I gave it a go. This was easy to mix and the perfect consistency, making it easy to apply evenly. To lighten my hair, I went with a 20-volume developer, and I was very impressed with the high amount of lift. By the time I started on the other side of my hair, the hair that was covered was already faded from bright purple to pink. I left this product on for the full 50 minutes (although only 30 on the roots) and my roots were a pale, pale yellow, the medium brown was a light gold, and the purple had faded to a light pink. Yes, obviously this sounds like a hot mess (and trust me, it looked like it too), but I was simply prelightening previously dyed purple hair in preparation to re-color. It did just what I needed. After pre-lightening, I applied a mix of N Rage and Manic Panic Amplified to get a glorious purple that looks neon in certain lighting. I found this product to not smell quite as bad as other products on the market (no watery eyes over here!), and it also did not damage my hair like other products. All I used was my semi-permanent colors (which work to condition) and my hair looks shiny, smooth, and healthy -- no breakage or dryness. You could get the same effect afterwards (if you aren't adding a color) with a packet of deep conditioner. Overall, I'm very pleased with the price of the product and the performance. It works like it should, doesn't smell horribly, and isn't as damaging as the products I've used in the past. I will definitely use this again, whether I'm just prepping my hair for a new color or going full-on blonde.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, great product Have been highlighting own hair for years, went all platinum this summer then back to dark for fall so you can imagine my hair is dry/damaged....tried this highlighting packet today and results were perfectly even highlights with very little breakage (some in the bangs from over processing last summer). very pleased with my hair color now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Bleach Powder For Me I've tried so many different lighteners. I've gone the no-ammonia creme bleach route and the results were a disaster, very uneven lift and I had some banding which is really weird. For me, with thin, fine, fragile hair so I am mindful and don't go crazy bleaching my hair, this is the one. I do a minimum of 2 hours pure edible unrefined coconut oil treatment on scalp and hair before lightening. Then lighten right over top. I generally do 1:2 - 1oz bleach powder to 2 ounces 20 volume cream developer. Makes a nice creamy but not too thick mix - and I'm totally lifted to that inside a banana peel yellow in no more than 25 minutes. And that's if I haven't lightened in months. Root touch up is usually 20 minutes tops. This bleach powder does have a smell and does give a little "tingle" on my scalp, even with coconut oil, but this is a higher lift bleach powder. That means lower developer volume, I never suggest going over 20 vol.

do you need a toner?

after using this do you need a toner every time i got my hair done professionally they always used a toner afterwards but they used a 40 developer when bleaching my hair I am attempting to get more of a white hair color but by saving money. just wondering if i need to use a toner after using the bleach.
Asked by: Ikaros
Also if it still isn't light enough you can use the purple shampoo as a toner it's self by applying it to dry hair and letting it sit for about 20-30 minuses but like previously said it can be drying so use a deep conditioner after.

Does this require heat?

Asked by: Vanna
No if bleach is not completely saturated to max with foils don't use heat because It will dry your bleach and stop working and will damage your hair and scalp.

Can I mix with color AND developer?

I'm planning on going from the Wella Tango Color purple to Wella Tango Almond. Could I mix this lightener right in with the color and developer?
Asked by: Lee
Hello and thank you for your question! After reviewing the package directions Our mixing recommendation are as follows: For off-the-scalp application - mix 1 oz. of Color Charm Powder Lightener with 1 oz. of the appropriate Wella Developer (20 or 30 Vol) in a non-metallic bowl. For on-the-scalp application - use only 20 Vol Crème Developer by mixing 1oz. of Color Charm Powder Lightener with 2 oz. Wella Crème Developer. Do not process for more than 50 minutes.
