Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Gross! This not only weighs your hair down, but leaves a gross greasy, gritty film. Takes forever for hair to air-dry after using. I do not recommend. January 6, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not worth it Although I've read many reviews about purple conditioner not really working or moisturizing enough, I still wanted to give this a try, as I love ION brand a lot. Unfortunately, reviews were right, at least for this one. I tried even mixing it in with other deep conditioner to get more of the moisture, which worked but that wasn't what I had wanted nor did it tone the brassiness. Very disappointed. The color of this conditioner was also more of a lilac/pastel purple and not very pigmented, which can be a good thing for those who doesn't want to stain their hands or tub, but I find it that if the purple is more pigmented, it helps take out the brassiness. The smell was also pleasant, nothing too strong. October 24, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by ion conditioner for blondes It smells great , and the texture is creamy but not heavy. It really helps your blonde shades last longer. I am not a natural blonde and I really hate when my hair starts to look brassy and this conditioner helps prolong my color. July 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purple Conditioner and Smells Great! I bought this while wandering around Sally's in search of a purple based conditioner. I had watched a million and one videos on Youtube that suggested Shimmer Lights but in the end, I saw this one first and liked its price tag WAY more. I initially wasn't really optimistic since a lot of people say that purple conditioner doesn't really do much but I couldn't find the shampoo at the time so yeah, I was stuck with this. Well...I prepared myself for the nasty smell that everyone said would happen from these types of conditioners and...LO and behold! Nothing. It smelled pleasant and I was happy that I didn't have to endure any nasty smells. I apply this while in the shower after shampooing my hair and just let it sit on my head while I shave and do the rest of my business. If your hair is light enough, you'll notice a difference during that first shower. I have platinum hair bleached from black and yeah, I noticed it instantly. It's not a very good moisturizing conditioner but I didn't expect it to be since it's used to tone the hair rather than add in anything besides color. So yeah, I rinsed this out and used a more moisturizing conditioner afterward. ONE thing to watch out for though... I suggest getting a mirror in the shower to help with where you apply it since if you miss a spot there's essentially this really BRASSY spot just in your face. ALso, if you have thicker or longer hair, you'll run through this baby pretty quickly. I've used it twice now and I'm already more than halfway through the bottle. But yeah, I totally suggest it and completely love it. Again, just apply it before shaving and like 5-10 minutes later just rinse and wash your hair with another conditioner. March 22, 2014

I have bleach blonde highlights, I shampoo my hair every other day. what shampoo should I use now? before I died my hair I used garnier fructose damage eraser. I was wondering if I could still use it? I heard not to use a purple shampoo so often because your hair turns purple-ish, just use it once a week.

use Blonde Brillence - cool blonde "Blond Brilliance Temporary Color Care Lathering Toner Cool Blonds " This one can be used as a shampoo or you could use your regular shampoo and put this on right on top. leave it on for a few minutes. Its healthy for your hair and brighten your blondes. then use "Blond Brilliance Temporary Color Care Conditioner Toners Cool Blonds " for the conditioner. :) hope this helps. DO NOT USE COOL BLONDE ION. it was horrible experience for me lol

Hello and thank you for your question!

We would recommend using the Cool Blonde once or twice a week – not because it will turn hair purple-ish, but because hair could turn too ashy and overuse can dry out the hair. Alternate the purple shampoo with Ion Color Defense Shampoo and Conditioner for maximum color protection. Also if the hair is more porous, then it may pick up the purple tones more, however it won’t be permanent and will wash out.

We would recommend that if you are concerned about using the purple shampoo too frequently that you can alternate with a color safe shampoo and conditioner. If you are concerned about the damage, the 180 Miracle Repair Damage Eliminator is an excellent option. SKU 124421

A toner will make it a more ashy color, though I think there are many different ranges of toners. Black hair tends to go yellow/brassy when bleached, you could tone it and dye your highlighted sections a caramel hair dye color. Using a purple based shampoo can help tone your hair as well. Wella toners require 20 Volume Developer, so remember that when deciding what to do.

If it were my hair, I would wait a week after highlighting, then tone it. Wait and condition for another week, then dye to desired color. : ) Hope this helps!

Toner will not do much to your hair if you have semi-permanent color in it. Is the Teal too green for your liking? If so, you can combat the green by adding a blue dye.

Next time you bleach your Teal out, tone before you dye. Many semi permanent colors need to be a level 7-10 blonde in order to achieve your desired color. Teal over yellow means you get green. They follow the rules of the color wheel, so act accordingly when choosing another dye. Adding more blue will more than likely take you back to that teal color, possibly Aqua. I would not put Purple, Pink, or any Neon color over it, or you're going to get brown, or some weird baby **** color. : )

Alternatively you can use vitamin C pills (non-chewable) (and White) and mix that with Head N Shoulders shampoo. Mix Shampoo and Vit C in equal portions until paste is acquired. Apply straight to hair, leave on for thirty to forty minutes then rinse, do not condition if you plan to reapply. You can do this as many times as needed. The Vit C opens the hair cuticle to let the color out similar to a hair color remover. You can do this before bleaching to minimize the damage to your hair. Wait one week before bleaching. Deep condition after you are done doing Vit C treatments until you bleach. When you do bleach apply coconut oil to entire head and hair shaft and let sit for at least thirty minutes before applying bleach. This will protect your hair and scalp. Don't worry the bleach is strong enough to cut through the coconut oil without damaging your hair. : )

you want a toner so once you bleach it then apply a toner. You need to look up what color toner you need by looking at the hair color wheel. You either want to go with a purple or blue toner. You need to see which one will best correct the shade of orange. Also keep in my mind you may have to repeat this process a few times until you end up with the right shade of blonde. Some people do it over a few weeks time and others months. Then you want to use shampoos and conditioners for blondes so your color lasts longer and it doesn't start to look brassy or yellow.

Try a wella toner. I suggest T18, but that depends on what shade you want. They have several shades of blonde colors to choose from. But if you have regrowth or dark highlights avoid getting the toner on it because it will lighten that too. My roots are black and I tone every month in between root touch ups and it makes my roots orange.
