Ion Cool Blonde Shampoo 10 10
Love this shampoo! I have used the Generic Brand purple shampoo in the past and I didn't like how drying it was. Also, due to the level of brassiness I had, I didn't notice much difference when I used it. Since my most recent highlighting experience, I grabbed the Ion Cool Blonde shampoo because it was the least expensive option & it smelled nice, and I wanted to make sure that my hair would not have the brassy tones I've become used to when going blonde. In the almost week that I've used it, it has maintained a cool appearance to my highlights and I don't feel like it has dried out my hair at all. It really does smell good which really impressed me as well. I will buy this again! September 12, 2014
Just what I've been looking for I have long, straightish, fine hair, dark blonde with highlights and some grey. I wash my hair twice a week and blow dry. I HATE Clairol Shimmer Lights--the smell is overpowering and it does not function well enough as a shampoo. The matching conditioner (Clairol) is worthless--I would literally have to follow it with an intensive moisture conditioner like Ion Extreme Moisture Creme. The Ion Cool Blonde Shampoo lathers well, cleans well and does not over-strip my hair. It prevents dullness and yellowness in both my highlights and my grey. I follow with Ion Extreme Moisture Creme conditioner, then use anti-frizz serum on the highlighted length before blow-drying. BTW, I have not found the matching Cool Blonde Conditioner to be effective--it doesn't moisturize enough for me. But I LOVE the shampoo! April 26, 2014
OK; Not the best. I have naturally blonde hair that is quickly turning grey. I don't mind the grey if it is silvery and shiny but not dull and dingy. I've used Clairol Shimmerlights in the past but found it to be too conditioning. I have very fine hair. The Shimmerlights definitely produced more dramatic results. People actually commented on how shiny my hair was. I don't really notice much of a shimmer with this Ion shampoo. My husband tried, loved it, and I had to buy more. It is often on sale too. His grey has a tendency to look yellowish and dull. This shampoo is a little drying, but for my fine hair that is not such a bad thing. DH has much more coarse and dry hair. It seems to minimize the yellow tone to some degree but could be better and is really too drying for him. So when we run low on the Ion I plan to get him some of the Sally generic of the Clairol Shimmerlights to try, because it's less expensive than Clairol and also more conditioning than the Ion Cool Blonde Shampoo. I will likely continue using this one. May 1, 2013
No Toning I usually buy Shimmering Lights or Sally's Generic version of the product and never had any problems. My brassy tones would disappear before my eyes. During my last visit, an associate recommended that I try the Ion brand so I purchased this product. Honestly, I don't really understand how this is designed for blonde hair. The shampoo itself is poorly pigmented and it definitely doesn't tone my hair. To make the matters worse, it leaves my hair dry and straw-like. The only positive thing I can say is that this shampoo is easy to distribute and it smells good. Otherwise, it simply didn't do the job for me. April 28, 2013

A:No. I've used it and it just gets rid of brassiness. If you want white hair I'd recommend using a toner, maybe T18, or buying either shimmer lights or purple shampoo and conditioner from Ulta called Ag sterling silver toning shampoo and conditioner. Its pricey but worth it. Its deep purple and works wonders.
