Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied I tried bleaching my dark brown hair and it didn't work. I used this and it worked like no other! My hair is very light orange but using wella color charm toner to get the orange tint out. After one application it frantically changed my hair color from dark brown to blonde. I recommend as it doesn't feel as dead as it would have been with regular bleach. Aiming for a nice ash blonde.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Use! Bought some last month and I am happy with the results. It is easy to use, doesn't splash.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Moderate Changes I'm an natural blonde and had been dying my hair red for 6 months or so. I'd previously used the Ion color corrector to get the red out and it only took it down a shade or so after 2 attempts, so I tried this. This product took a good amount of color out and turned my roots a very light blonde but the red still stuck. A second time using it didn't do much. It didn't have as dramatic effect as I'd hoped. Make sure to deep-condition after bleaching and wait a few weeks before bleaching or dying again. It wasn't too damaging though, my hair recovered quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not a complete kit, average results I usually use the Ion powder lightener which does very well. Decided to try this one for a change thinking it was all-in-one. I hadn't seen anything about needing other products not included. This product does require a 20v developer (4oz. per app.) that is not included in the kit. Luckily, I had some on hand (I only had a 10 and a 40 so I mixed them). My hair was a combo of virgin roots (med brown w/some gray), pre-lightened with faded out neon color, and faded level 3N(demi-perm). Put on darkest/colored part first, 10-15 min. later did roots and then lightest part. Left it on for full 50 min total (about 30 for V/light parts). Did pretty well on lighter parts, got roots to yellow/gold, lifted the dark dyed part to dark brass/rust, the faded purple part turned to light minty green. Overall, lightened about 2-3 levels. With the addition of the 4oz. of developer, single app. was enough to saturate my med length, fine hair. Stayed wet, not too bad smell. Could have done second app, but didn't want to risk the damage, hair was very dry and brittle feeling after (as expected). Great for virgin hair, not for other color removal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best bleaches I've used I had my hair colored all different colors for fall, and am ready for a change back to an all over light blonde for a while. I had at least an inch of virgin roots about a level 6 dark blonde/light brown. I had the top layer of my hair colored Wella's 8NW light neutral warm blonde, and underneath just above my ears the Argan Oil 3CH which had faded to more of a level 4 or 5. I also had burgundy highlights in the blonde that had pretty much all faded. I'm trying to go for a 9A/9V. My hair is a little past my collarbone, and I used half the package, so one whole application. I also have a lot of red undertone naturally, so it generally doesn't take to bleach very well. I usually need at least 3 or 4 little packages of powder for my length, so this is a much better deal. This stuff also stays moist unlike powder. I started on the dark pieces first, then the top, and tried to avoid the roots until last. In less than 30 minutes all over with a plastic bag on my head, my top and my roots got to a light yellow, and my underneath got to a light reddish pink color. I'm still impressed it even did that well. It also didn't irritate my skin like powder bleach does, and I used a 30 volume developer. I'll have to go over the underneath again, but I expected that. Overall, this stuff did well, and I recommend it to anyone with longer or thicker hair since you get a good amount in one package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy On Hair With Slow and Steady Lift I used this lightener in addition to a color remover (Beyond the Zone). It took a while to lift up the the blonde I was looking to get, but once I got there and washed/conditioned my hair was not dry or breaking at all. I love it, and I'm going to be lifting a little further this weekend, along with a toner to bring down the yellow/orange tint. You can see the color my hair was before and how it looks a few days after lifting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for those who want high lift I am a black woman with dreadlocs. I dye my black and gray (30%) locs blonde from the root/new growth. I used the creme lightener for the first time in August and I was pleased with my results. My process is to lift with a bleach or lightener, color with a high lift color and then tone. This time I was disappointed with the results. It was not lightened enough and left me with a lot more yellow and gold than last time. And I followed the exact same process each time. Now, the color at the end is just fine (after the entire process) BUT if you are looking for a HIGH lift for a pale yellow before color and tone, this product is not strong enough. It was, however, VERY gentle on my hair. I had far less hair on my hands and in the sink than when I bleach. It just didn't suit my taste for the final results. Going back to bleach next time but I think it offered a good 'break' to my hair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Go Blonde the Healthy Way This Product does a good job, especially if you have a faded auburn/copper hair color or a lighter brown. It does not damage your hair as much as other dyes. It does smell somewhat bad but after bleaching it twice with this( Let your hair breathe for a while and deep condition) you get used to the smell. Didn't give me split ends with first application (I had Healthy hair and saw split ends after re-bleaching a bit more than a week later with the argan oil lightener. But alternating your hair structure is always damaging) I have a pixie so two packets of this was too much for my hair but one isn't enough. If you have longer hair I recommend getting the bigger bottle.

Will this product take the yellow out of my white hair?

Asked by: ellie o3
No, you'll need to apply a violet/blue toner to get rid of the yellow. Wella toners are good. Good luck!

my hair reaches to the part of my back where my bra strap is and i was just wondering how much of this product would i need to get my hair to a light enough color to dye my hair a bright pink?

Asked by: andrea21
I WOULD GET AT LEAST TWO BOXES. I really like the product. It comes with four packs(two applications). I have long hair but it's straight as heck, so ... two boxes should be great for doing your entire length.

What actually comes in the package? Do I need to buy developer separately?

Asked by: KatBell2
4 oz. of Creme Oil and 4 small packets of bleach comes in each box. The developer must be bought separately. Since I just bleach the roots every six weeks, I use half the Creme Oil and 2 packets of bleach with four oz. of developer each time I bleach my hair. So, one box will do my hair (roots) twice. Hope this helps.

Would this be a good choice for bleaching out semi permanent fashion colors?

Asked by: Colleend322
This would be the most conditioning option in Ion. Just be sure to test strand prior to a full application to ensure safe and desired results!

Can I use this for removing emerald green hair color?

Asked by: jess9550
No, you need a hair color remover, not a lightener. May we suggest sally SKUs 140505 or 405008.

No, you must use the developer or it doesn't work. I accidentally tried it once!

i have dark brown/black hair. If I use this with volume 30 developer would I get a light blonde?

Asked by: Anonymous
We do only recommend this product be mixed with a 20 volume developer to keep the hair in the best condition. You can achieve lift from black to light blonde with this product but be prepared for multiple applications to achieve this end result!

Will this lighten roots as well as dyed hair?

I want to lighten my hair (from a dark red, Loreal Feria R48) so I can dye it using Ion demi permanent Dark Copper Blonde. I have very short hair, so was planning to wait till my next haircut, when it will be about half roots (I'm naturally strawberry blonde) and lighten the ends to a similar color. Will this product lighten the roots as well? I don't want them being so much lighter than the tips causing uneven dyeing, and it would be hard keeping the lightener from touching roots with my short hair. If so, what alternative products would be good to use with little damage?
Asked by: Anonymous
The creme lightener can prepare the hair for a lighter desired color. Just be sure to test strand the color after lightening. The hair will most likely accept color easier making it a possibility to achieve your desired results in a shorter processing time.
