Thirty-two Shades plus Clear/00.
Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of Ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Crème Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. See Color Objective Chart.

All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use Ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A i5-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.

Shampoo and style as desired

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of Ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. Ion Sensitive Scalp Crème Developer 10 volume. See Color Objective Chart. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply Intensive Shine formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.  For Retouching:  Apply Ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing.

Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color 4.2 5 185 190
Fantastic!! I am so happy - Wish I could show you my great looking hair. My natural hair color is medium brown hair with some gray. In the Salon I am a 6N, which gives me a medium brown hair color and covers my gray. For the ION hair color, I did like everyone recommended and went two shades lighter to the 8N (Natural Light Blonde). Seems weird I know, but it works and it is a perfect color match to my 6N at the salon. This is my first time ever coloring my hair at home and I am ecstatic. I did a 1:1 ratio with the 10 developer, left the color on for 40 mins to try and battle my stubborn grays and also used the ION Repair Solution to condition my hair after shampooing. Overall, I am pleased with the gray coverage. Do I still have a few grays? I do, but I can live with a couple because it just looks fantastic. To help get 100% of those grays, maybe next time I will try the 20 developer. My hair is now shiny and so soft - it looks and feels like I just walked out of the salon except I didn't have to spend a fortune. Wish I had done this years ago. December 29, 2014
Medium blonde more like medium to dark brown I read the reviews and I knew to get a few shades lighter than what I was going for. I wanted medium brown and that is what I got by using medium ash blonde. The color really isn't shiny and it did NOT cover any of my grays. This brand is so inconsistent with the names of the colors and the outcomes. They really should fix that. I don't have much gray hair, but the few grays I have are still gray after immediate coloring. I'm really disappointed and will not use again. I had to use 2 tubes for my little past shoulder length hair. October 18, 2014
Colors run very dark!!! I have used Ion Demi many times. I used it in the past when I colored my hair black for about 5 years. It was awesome due to the fact I wanted to darken. After a full year of color removal and correction my hair is now a level 7 Golden Blonde with an inch of natural level 5 regrowth. I have gone to the hairdresser a few times to refresh my color but it seems to fade rather fast so I wanted to try something to freshen up my blonde. I chose 7w medium warm blonde. I know my hair will grab the color intensely due to the porosity of my hair so I used the a gold filler and applied the color to my damp filled hair. I was careful to follow the instructions and use a 10 sensitive scalp developer and left it on for 15 minutes using 1oz of color and 2 oz of developer. BEWARE this is not medium blonde this is BROWN. If your hair is bleached or color corrected I would go 2 shades lighter. I washed my hair a few times to lighten and the result is a very dark golden warm blonde. If I use this again I will only leave in for 5 minutes. These shades are Dark. Very pretty and shiny but dark. Please follow the instructions in the packaging and if applying to bleached or blonde hair be extra careful to watch the color while processing and rinse as soon as you have the desired effect!!! I am hooked! I was absolutely terrified to use a hair color that didn't include a box from the drug store or a professional. I researched and researched and watched YouTube videos and read tons of reviews before deciding to take the plunge and try Ion's Demi Permanent Hair Color. My hair is aging, thin, fragile, dull, dry and lifeless. Pretty much the worst hair imaginable (at least to me#. I stopped getting my hair professionally colored about 2 years ago when I could no longer stomach spending $150 every six to eight weeks. So I did some research and decided to start using Revlon's Colorsilk. The first several times I used it, my hair looked and felt great, but over time it seemed to be drier and more damaged even though I hardly had any noticeable split ends. It just looked extremely unhealthy. I read that even though Colorsilk has no ammonia, over time it does damage your hair. My hair could not take any more abuse, so I decided to try a demi permanent color. I washed my hair with Ion's color-safe clarifying shampoo to get rid of product buildup, but did not use a conditioner. Instead I let my hair air dry, then I saturated it with the Ion Pre-Color Treatment spray. I pulled out a small section of hair at the nape of my neck -- about 1/4 inch thick -- and did a color test. It looked good, so I went for it! My natural color is a level 4-5, but my current hair was more like a level 6 and was lifeless and brassy. I wanted my color to be richer and deeper. My hair normally pulls orange and then gets brassy as the color fades, so I chose to mix 1 oz. of 7N Medium Blonde and 1 oz. of 7WR Medium Warm Red Blonde with 2 oz. of #10 Ion developer. I left it on for 35 minutes, but watched carefully as it developed. I followed up with half a packet of Ion Color Defense After Color Sealer #I used the rest two days later when I shampooed). I should have left the color on longer because I still have a few grays around my face. Maybe I'll do that section first next time and leave it on 10 minutes longer. I chose colors that were two levels lighter and got exactly what I wanted. It did turn out pretty dark, but it's a lovely chocolate brown with subtle red #not orange# highlights. I would say it took me to a level 4 -- maybe because my hair was dry & porous to start. My friends at work said my hair looks super healthy and shiny now! I am hooked!! A word of caution: Be careful with the color! I put too much on the brush and a blob fell on the front of my bathroom cabinet and now there is a huge *permanent* stain there. August 4, 2014

I really liked the Ion Color Brilliance Semi-permanent hair color in Golden Blonde - 305070, no peroxide, no ammonia. I cannot find this shade any more... Can anyone tell me if the Demi- is much the same or more harsh? I guess is has peroxide? I'm sort scared of it.
