This perm fried my hairThis perm fried my hair. It looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket for weeks afterwards. I tried to get a lot of the damage cut off and my hair dresser was like, what the heck happened to your hair? I'm still using an immense amount of conditioning/repairing types of products. The only time I look like I have a normal curl is when my hair is wet. When dry, it is a terrible, frizzy mess & I have to straighten it all over. I used to have to wash my hair often or it got oily... what a switch. I guess you get what you pay for. I had a professional perm yrs ago and it turned out great. Guess I will have to pay a lot more $$ to get a professional perm, after my damaged hair grows out. What a nightmare.

Great ProductI actually use this perm to straighten my very curly hair. I pour it over clean damp hair and follow all other instructions -- Works better than all of the many other straighteners I've used over the years, without too much damage to my hair -- Doesn't burn or smell too "permy" -- Lasts about 4 months (until new growth) -- I still have to blow dry and use a flat iron the rest of the time, but my hair looks healthier than it ever has -- I can actually braid my hair and go to the pool -- a first for me -- Great product.

BEST PERM EVERMy daughter and I noticed that perms were no longer sold in retail stores, ie., Walmart, Walgreens, etc. We both needed some extra body and volume. I researched Sally's perms online and went to the local Sally's armed with information to make a good purchase. It was our first visit to Sally's.
We both had colored our hair so we chose the 6 minute processing time. Both of us were skeptical of the short time for processing. Well, our perm's turned out to be the best one we had ever used. My hair is baby fine and thin and now I have 3 times the volume. Very soft and the color is a little lighter and I love it. My daughter has long hair (dark brown) with a red tint. She now has great volume and she loves the softness and the red of the tint is now toned down and looks much better. It really did only take 6 minutes processing. The whole perm only took about 1/2 hour and we both love it.
You need to buy the papers for rolling. They were not included. Also, some of the perm's were not available to us due to not being a professional hair person. This one is great.

Complete Nightmare!Still recovering ;< ...Wanted to get a soft curl back and this product did the total oppostite of what it said... My hair looks like buck wheat and I had to cut more than 4 inches after the perm had settled in..It left my hair dull, tough, rubbery, brittle and super Dry.. I would never recommend this product to anyone..I got my money back and still have to cut more hair and deep repair treatments!!

Great Perm!!I couldn't be happier with the results of this perm!! It's been ages since my last perm but decided to 'give it a go'. I just did it yesterday so we'll see how long it lasts but my hair curled just as I expected with the size of rods I used so there were no surprises. I could tell as soon as I removed the rods that my hair was quite silky and had a lot more curl.
My hair is getting a little gray but is my natural color and this perm worked perfectly. As I have gotten older my once curly hair is losing some of its curl so I wanted to give it a 'boost'.
I bought some rods made by Salonics so the wrapping was easy and my dear hubby helped apply the perm and neutralizer (important not to try a perm on your own).
The directions were spot on and easy to understand. I did set my hair after the perm and slept in curlers last night and didn't hear complaints from my better half regarding perm odor like years ago. When I styled my hair this morning it was perfect!
It won't be another ten years until I perm again and this will be the perm I use - highly recommended.

Great Home Perm!I was very pleased with the results of this perm. I have thick curly hair, except for the top which grows straight so I keep it layered short and perm this small section. I just use one row of rods right down the middle of the top of my head to blend it in with the rest. This perm with 3/4" rods has given me the best blend so far! The curls are bouncy and stand off my head instead of just laying flat and being crimp-like. For normal hair the instructions say you can't over perm; just leave on for 20 minutes and you're all set. It was really easy to use and came out great. My hair isn't frizzy or damaged looking at all. I saved the box top so I can buy this same product next time.

One and only permI have given myself perms for many years and had used the store brands (lilt, l'oreal, etc.). Usually a perm would last maybe two months. I gave myself a One and Only Perm and it is still looking good after almost four months. It was easy to use and cost less than the others I had bought. I have recommended it to many of my friends and plan to give myself another one before our son gets married this fall. I love Sally Beauty for many reasons but this perm has really sold me on their supplies.
I USE THESE BECAUSE MYSELF, FAM AND FRIENDS ALL HAVE VERY THICK ETHNIC HAIR. AND THEY ARE AWESOME FOR THAT. WE RARELY USE EVEN MASCARA. I WOULDN'T TRUST ANYONE WITH PERM CHEMICALS NEAR MY EYES. SERIOUSLY, CALL THE COMPANY. SEE WHAT THEY SAY.( SORRY FOR THE CAPS. VISUALLY IMPAIRED)

My hair is long, thick, not really course but not thin & somewhat wavy. Easy to style. Hair is tinted close to my natural color, medium brown. Which perm is recommended for a spiral perm?

After the neutralizer is applied, do I wash it out?
Asked by: Anonymous
Not with shampoo! Just with clean clear warm water. Follow the instructions on / in the box. Usually when you neutralize you leave it in for a set period of time (e.g., 5 minutes) then remove all the rollers and gently massage the neutralizer through your hair all over your head. Then thoroughly rinse with warm water for as long as it takes to get any "perm" smell out (usually about 10 minutes). Then gently towel dry (blot - don't rough it up). Never "wash out" a perm or the neutralizer with anything but water. If you want your curls or waves to last don't shampoo for at least 48 hours. Go 72 hours if you can stand it. I always do just to be on the safe side.
