Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a darker red I actually wanted a more brighter color, but didn't realize this was a darker red. Still looked good on my naturally black hair, though. I ended up using a box of the L'Oreal hicolor hilights in red a few days later. I did get a slightly brighter red, but I knew that my hair was already so black, it could only lift the color 3-4 levels to get the dye in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this color! I use the Intense Red combined with 1/2 Magenta Hi-color highlights. I get so many compliments on this color!! It is a very deep and rich burgundy red. I never have any trouble with fading or washing out. Bleeds for just a couple of days post-application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifts hair color perfectly! I had originally wanted to go red with my hair but decided that it would require more maintenance than I was willing to put in so I decided on Soft Auburn. My hair is naturally very dark brown almost black. I did have color in my hair from about the middle to my ends ( sort of ombre if you will). It was supposed to be red but the stylist didn't do a good job and my hair was virgin when I had dyed it that time. I didn't want to go spend tons of money on dying my hair just for the results to be disappointing again. I had never dyed my hair by myself before so I was super nervous. I mean I've used box dyes but my sister had always did it for me. Needless to say it got pretty messy and I was still pretty anxious about the color I had already had in my hair because I know color doesn't lift color. When I was washing my hair, I was worried the color didn't lift at all but once my hair dried the change was obvious. I was ecstatic! The color came out so even ( I had also used Ion Pre-treatment before applying the dye) and it was noticeable even indoors! I am so happy with how it came out! It didn't cover up some white hairs like I wanted it to but I could live with that. Also, it was very easy to clean up. I just wet a wash cloth with warm water and the color wiped off easily from my skin as well as my bathroom sink. I highly recommend this product if you have dark hair and are trying to get a lighter color. Granted not everyone has the same hair so I was lucky that the color lifted the color I already had in my hair. I would say use this only on natural hair unless you're willing to take the risk. Worst comes to worst, you can always just dye it darker but I am not a professional hair stylist so take my advice with caution.

I bleached my hair a few months ago and dyed it red. I didn't like it so i dyed it black(worst mistake) now it's faded to dark brown with a purple/red shine. Can i use this product or my hair won't lighten?

Asked by: Extremered
It has some lighter in it but not enough to lighten very much, with the right developer. I use red hot on mine with 20vol on the root and 5 or 10 on the ends. I'm not an expert but i have used this for years and i would think you should be fine with the same. For added red i also use ion red permanant intensifier in the mix. Not needed but it's a much deeper red with it. Hope this helps!

Used permanent hair color hair came out dark brown probably a level III ,   Want to get back to level five or six and tone down the reddish cast ,, which shade would you recommend with excellence HiColor ?   Thank you

Asked by: Dianne08
Actually Loreal Hi Colour does lift colour. I've used this brand so much. From going bright red to a dark brown. I then wanted to to go back to a level 4 and so I used one of the light brown shades of boreal hi colour ( I forget the colour) and it lifted my dark brown to a the exact colour of brown on the box! The box said it lifts 2-3 shades :) I used a Vol. 30.

i previously dyed my hair a bright red in the brand Ion Red , and the color is pretty down already , and i want to get like a burgundy intense red? Which one should i get?

Asked by: Mivette26
I liked mixing a natural black with the Intense Red from this brand. If I'm careful and wash my hair in cold water, it stays in for the 4-5 weeks before I color again. I did use the 'Black Plum' of this brand, and it seemed to wash out much quicker. I'm a big fan of mixing colors together, so if you find a depth of brown you like, add a bright red/burgundy and see what you get.

I wanna use this for ombre red tips do I need to bleach first

Asked by: Yazy1030
Don't bleach first, this dye is used with a developer that acts as a bleach. You'll want to use a volume 30 or even 40 to get the high colour lift, as well as colour deposit, if you have dark hair.

I've been wanting to dye my hair a little more red. Currently I've been using the 7R by wella(currently  it's washed out). Would this brand work to give me a more intense red?

Asked by: cyntroma
Absolutely! The reds from the Hi-Color line come with a color booster that you add in when you are ready to use. I have tried several reds from this line over the years and the only down side is that they totally dye your skin as well. I use a 20 developer because my hair isn't naturally super dark and I leave it in about 25-30 minutes. The color will stay vibrant for about 6 weeks if you religiously wash your hair in cold water otherwise it starts getting coppery in about 4 weeks or so.

I have an ombré going with my hair and it's dark brown to a light brown at the ends would this work with what I have? What sort of developer do I need? I don't want a bright red I'm looking for more of a dark cherry red.

Asked by: der89577
I always use volume 30 developer and always have stunning results. (My roots are medium brown with gray, I retouch with red every 6 weeks)
