Ion Color Brilliance Brights Semi-Permanent Hair Color are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In twenty to forty minutes Ion Color Brilliance Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. Ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

Ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied two different ways.

1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color. To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with Ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply Ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply Ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.

Fantastic! After much deliberation, I went with Fuschia. My hair was previously Manic Panic Red Passion, faded to a funny cotton candy pink and orange streaky color, and this covered it fabulously. The box states you need state 10 to really get this color, but my hair was probably only an 8 or so and it still came out great. It's far more purple on where my hair was pink previously and a beautiful raspberry color where it was orange. It IS super thick so I added some Ion conditioner to help spread it. I have a lot of hair so I needed two full tubes of it to get it all covered. Unlike the Manic Panic which you can sort of squidge around in your hair when it's done, this stuff doesn't move. I left it on for about two hours and rinsed it out. Also, I highly recommend getting the Ion After-Color Treatment with this as it will make your hair instantly super soft and shiny by closing the cuticle. Time will tell if it helps keep the color in, but my hair feels great. August 15, 2012
Good, but varies. I've been using Ion Color Brilliance for a few years now. I've used magenta, azure, aqua, lavender, and red. The magenta and blues lasted in my hair for months, barely faded and stayed vibrant. The lavender faded a bit more quickly but turned a very pretty color when it did fade, I had to redo it two times before I had to dye my a different color. I currently have the red in my hair and I have had it for about three weeks, for the most part my hair is still red and beautiful, there's a patch here and there that's a little orange due to fading. Which is no big deal, it is only demi-permanent- It's not made to last forever. BUT it's bleeds insanely bad! Every time I take a shower i have to SCRUB the tub because of all the red EVERYWHERE the day after I dyed it I woke up with red all over my face, hands, arms, back, and neck, it got on my clothes and ruined my towels. it could have been my fault because I used three bottles when I really only needed one and a half, so once I re-dye my hair the red I'll see how it goes(: for the most part I highly recommend. Not what I expected I've tried three Ion Brights so far: Red, Lavender, and Rose. The Lavender and Rose are currently processing on my hair so I can't tell you if they are true to the swatches or not. But I can tell you that two boxes was not enough. I had one box of Lavender and one box of Rose but I'm realizing I probably should have had one box of Lavender and TWO boxes of Rose instead because I'm pretty sure my hair is going to come out patchy since one box of each simply didn't cut it. I even added conditioner to try and make it go longer but I don't think that really worked. Oddly enough, when I used Red I only used one box on the same length of hair but that was plenty. It was gorgeous too and the only reason why I didn't keep it was because I was using that to go from blonde to brown. EDIT: I've washed the dye out now and unfortunately the Rose didn't take and the Lavender is a much darker shade than what I expected. February 15, 2015
Once You Go Blue, You Never Go Back I tried the Purple and the Sky Blue - both which I pasteled. I never meant to ever have the color stay for more than a week or two as I was already happy with my blonde color, I just wanted to play around and have some fun without damaging my hair. I first used the purple, which turned to a lavender and gracefully faded to nice ash blonde. I was really happy with it and how it didn't leave me running to the bleach to get it out, so I tried the blue. I also pasteled with the blue as I did the purple, and it turned really dark. I was hoping though that it would just wash out but sadly it never did and turned Pool Algae Green/Turquoise. Vitamin C treatments, Baking Soda treatments, Anti-Dandruff, and even my last try - bleach didn't take it out. The purple was great, I was really happy with it. But the blue should not say "semi-permanent". Most people on the web (which I watched 100's of videos about color removal) seem to not get theirs out either - even from other brands, so I would like to warn everyone don't dye your hair blue unless you plan to dye it over with a much darker color. My experience with this dye is 50/50 on the good and bad experience I would say February 13, 2015

I have strawberry blonde hair with light golden blonde highlights.. I want to add some warm rosy tones to the blonde to get a more rose gold look without altering the strawberry blonde too much. Should I use rose or salmon with the diluter to get that effect? Or maybe the master series in dusty pink with 4 oz. of 10 volume developer?

A:
Absolutely. Just be careful to do the section closest to the roots at the very end, because the roots will absorb the color very quickly and come out brighter than the rest of your hair if you don't do this.

A:
If you used a permanent color like the Loreal High Lift for Dark Hair Only line in magenta that lifts and then deposits you can definatly use a semi-permanent to touch it up. The N Rage dark pink fuscia/magenta color is awesome and you will not damage your hair at all by using it. The only downside is that if your regrowth is dark it will not lighten your roots because you do not mix it with a developer. I would continue to use the high-lift magenta on ONLY your new growth and use a semi-permanent to touch up the lengths if they fade. Also use a sulfate free shampoo and try to wash it as little as possible and with as cold of water as you can handle! Hot water will def. wash it out faster.
