Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Bleaching OK, I have dark brown hair and I didn't want to bleach my hair to try these colors so here is what I did. I got teal, radiant orchid, sky blue applied them in layers 1,2,3 I left the color on for 3 hrs wrapped in foil. Next time I will leave it on longer. Rinsed and shampooed with WEN (water ran clear) the color I got was a pretty ocean green, not what I was expecting but it was pretty without me having to bleach my hair. I aired dried my hair and it was soft. So give it a try without damaging your hair with bleach. Also when using these colors shampooing everyday with harsh shampoos will wash the color out quick, so don't blame the product if it doesn't stay. My color has been in now for 4 weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Salon quality results! I recently transitioned from light brown to rose gold. I initially went to a salon and spent about $170 for a bleach wash and one round of color. The woman I went to did not lighten my hair as much as I wanted, and my lovely pink hair faded to a sad orange in less than a week. So I went to Sally's, bought ion in magenta, mixed it with one and a half cups of conditioner, and left it on for two hours. After much washing in very cold water, my hair was literally the same color that I initially got at the salon. Please don't waste your money getting your hair dyed at a salon. I would recommend going to a salon to get it bleached beforehand (that can go horribly wrong very quickly if you aren't sure of what you're doing), but definitely use this brand and do the color yourself! It's fun to experiment with, and it's a great excuse to binge watch American Horror Story!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rainbow I have been dying my hair any and every color for years. This is by far the best brand I have ever used. The colors stick in and stay vibrant. My natural hair color is a dark brown but with proper bleaching and the correct amount of dye, you can get amazingly beautiful hair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from it faded to blue and green (originally lavender) I loved the color when I dyed it, but within two weeks it faded to a mint green/light blue. over the past month and a half it faded to green and yellow, and will not fade out. When I originally dyed my hair this color I had to bleach it quite a bit, now I do not want to bleach it again just to get the color it faded to out. long story short, it was beautiful at first but within 2 weeks It turned gross.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Love Love it! I have been coloring my hair unnatural colors since 2000 using other products which wouldn't last more than a month. So when I had gone into my Sally Beauty supply my favorite advisor was soooo excited to see me since they had a new product that she recommends. So of course I bought all of the colors they had in stock. I don't remember which color I tried first but I stuck with this line since. I have some great tips.Make sure you bleached out your hair which I do the night before rinse that out then the next day apply the color. I know it says to apply to clean hair but to me it works better than freshly bleach hair. Yes this product is thick get the bowl and brush and apply the color in this layers. Next I comb all my hair to one side on top and start with thin layers ( I currently have 1 side long & 1 side & back short) continuing the layers to the side you started on. Once it is all covered comb through your hair, slick it back then add one more sweep of the color over your whole head. If you have long hair pile it on top into a bun. Then wrap it in syran wrap then put a beanie on top of that and leave on over night for a result that is deep and intense. If you want a lighter shade then don't syran wrap it let it dry (sometimes I use a hairdryer) then put a beanie on and sleep on it. I love the Aqua, sky blue, fushsia and lavender. They all last about 10 weeks on me with fading just a little. So I hope you try some of my tips u will love the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Ombre/Mermaid Hair I bleached and dyed my hair for the first time selecting aqua. It turned out better than I thought ~ with shades of blue and aqua thought out my hair. My hair has gotten a little lighter and brighter with each wash (which is what I had expected). 3 weeks later still looks vivid and bright.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply amazing! I have been using Splat for over a year now due to it being cost effective (aka cheap). I went into Sally this afternoon and bought the Sky Blue Ion Brights color and a few other things I needed to get my hair done. Before, with the Splat, I never could get the water to run clear and it bled all over my neck so I looked like a smurf axe killer any time I took a shower. When I went to wash this color out, the water ran clear and it was still deep in my hair. I love this stuff and will definitely be buying it again!!

does the lightest blue show up on platinum blonde / yellowy hair

Asked by: snicker doodle
Think of the dye as being translucent, not opaque. Whatever color your hair is under the dye will influence the final color. A yellowish under-color can make a light blue end up greenish.

I am an african american female. I am dying my hair using the Ion Color Brilliance Brights Mint color and my hair is dark brown. How many packs of bleach is needed to lift my hair to get my hair to that color?

Asked by: Boss_Lady973
Mint is pretty pastel so you're going to have to get your hair very light in order to achieve the color you want. My hair is naturally dark brown but I'd been using AgeBeautiful permanent dye in darkest blue, which turned my hair black. Using Color Oops I stripped the dye, leaving my hair red gold. Then I used a lightener, bringing the color to lemony blonde. Toner made it ashy and much more neutral. Last I applied color - I used Ion Gemstone Brights Sapphire. And finally achieved the dark blue color I've been wanting. Since you want a pastel color I'd go a lot lighter than lemon. Pale blonde as close to white as you can get it.

What happened if I leave the product more than 45 minutes, because I have a lot of hair and Im worried

Asked by: lalymoly
I have been using unnatural colors/brights since 2006 so I've had much experience with many of the products available & Ion Color Brilliance is, hands down, the preferred product. Depending on which color & how bright you want it... I leave mine on anywhere form 2-4 hours. I, currently, only have to re-color my (pre-lightened) strands about every other month. The color stays in well & gives the hair time to recuperate from harsh bleaching chemicals. Happy Coloring!

I dyed my hair Jade awhile ago, and the color is still a bit stuck in. I want to bleach it and re-dye it Sky Blue. 1.) Will the Jade color come out enough that it won't mess with the blue. 2.) How light should my hair be to dye it?

Asked by: alarsen29
We do not recommend bleach for a possible removal as it can cause discoloration. We recommend trying the Ion Hair Color Remover Packette or BTZ Radical Color Remover first before any bleach based lightener.

I have dark red hair and I want to go blue. How do I get the color out of my hair to get a light blue without using bleach?

Asked by: Shade Sixx
Pre-lightening to a very pale yellow with lightener would the only way of transitioning to a blue tone.

I want to achieve a rose gold color what colors should. I mix? My hair is currently a faded red/copper. What can I do to achieve the rose gold color I would be happy if it's light, medium or dark rose gold I have no preference. Thank you

Asked by: Cynthy02
I just did this to my hair. I have unprocessed dark blonde (very light brown) hair at the roots with very minimal highlights in a medium blonde toward the tip. I used one box of Rose Quartz and one box of Salmon. Left it on my hair for about 1.5 hours and it turned out amazing!!! The top is more rose gold and the highlights took more of the pink but I love the way it looks. It is somewhat of a medium rose gold, but I have gotten many compliments on it already.
