Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't burn at all! Usually when using bleach with 20 dev - even for a bleach bath, it burns my sensitive scalp. But with THIS developer, I didn't feel it at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Time worked 4 meh I have thin hair and I didn't want to damage it too badly. This lifted my hair to a purpleish reddish color and I loved it! Will do again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you need sort of knowledge for this to work I had an experienced hairstylist tell me to use this in place of the store bought hair color cream. it's great. you have to know how to use it for it to work. 4 oz developer to half a tube of color. I first used a whole tube of color to 4 oz developer and it worked, but not that great. it definitely beats buying the store bought mixes and ends up being cheaper in the end. I love all the products and highly recommend to anyone that colors their hair often

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless Bought it because of the recommendation of an employee because I have a sensitive scalp. Directions are worthless, does not tell you anywhere how long to leave in before rinsing out, I searched the box and insert multiple times, even checked the website and there was no answer. So, I guessed at around 30-35 minutes. Virtually no color took. Will never buy again. I just hope that this stuff doesn't cause me to have a reaction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sensitive Scalp worked for me. I was having sore scalp and itching using the regular developer. The Sallys girl suggested I try this. I noticed a difference right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from #1 I love this developer! The scent is pleasant with a light flower scent & my scalp doesn't itch as bad & it doesn't dry my hair out as much as the salon care brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only developer that doesn't irritate My mom has a very sensitive scalp. I've tried other developers on her like Clairol and Wella and she said those still irritated her. I've never used Ion products before but the lady at Sally's suggested this one for sensitive scalps. It even has "sensitive scalp" in the name, so it has to work, right? Well, it does! My mom loved it, she said it did not irritate and her hair even felt smoother when she washed it off. I would definitely say that it does what it says it would, unlike so many other products you come across.

I Want to dye my hair a sliver grey and my hair is kinda dirty blonde . Could I use this to lighten my hair so I could dye it grey ?

Asked by: Smedernach
Developer alone  would not lighten your hair you would need to add the powdered bleach to it or lighter  blonde color

What is the difference between the 10, 20, 30, and 40 developer?

Asked by: MitaliCh
The higher the level, the higher the amount of peroxide which leads to a higher lift and potentially more damage. A 10 vol would most like be used with some demi or semi permanent color. 20 vol when have a light lift and is most often used with toners. 30 vol is what most people use and is what most box dyes use which will give a medium lift. 40+ I do not recommend especially with bleach unless you go to a professional, even then I wouldn't trust it but it provides a max lift that most use to achieve platinum blonde.

If it calls for 10 what would happen if used 20 associate gave me 20 I noticed instructions say 10

Asked by: Bubbap55
Doesn't make too much difference, but the 20 volume has more lift than the 10 volume so it depends on what color your hair is to begin with and what color you're trying to dye it. If you're going from darker to lighter then you will definitely want higher lift (20 or 30 volume), but if you're trying to go darker or stay in the same range then you would want to use the 10. My color calls for a 10 but in order to cover gray I use a 30. The result is that my color is lighter than what it shows on the box, but I plan for that by selecting a dye that is darker than what I really want. Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

Is this used for bleaching hair or developing hair color?

Asked by: cybercyan
Both. Depends whether you use it with bleach, toner, or color. If using with bleach it will not lighten very much with only 20 but will be more gentle on your hair. Depends how light you need to go. If you only need to lighten a little you can use 20. I usually use 30 when bleaching my hair.

I used ion permanent hair solutions with developer 10 hair is darker than my normal hair. can I redo today with a different developer and same shade or go with a lighter shade. I have 8n and 9n crème and other developers which to use and can I do toda

Asked by: messed up hair too dark
I think I'd wait for a few days before redoing, as might be too much for hair.  I've use ION Sensitive Scalp 6% Developer 20 & ION Color liquid (used to used cream) 8N permanent hair color for years.  Have dark brown hair with graying & results are a lighter blond/red shade.  Ask a Sally Beauty rep in the stores, they are knowledgeable.  My Sally Beauty store gal told me years ago what to use & I've been happy with results. Good luck.

I use ion 4g medium golden brown with a 10 developer and I like the color, just on my roots. I am getting more gray so I was told to use 20 developer and when I used it with the same 4g it turned out a shade or 2 lighter. Any advice?

Asked by: LaraeJo80
Maybe try 3g it should be a shade darker and turn out the way you want it.
