Ion Color Brilliance Permanent Creme Intense Neutrals 3.3 5 15 15
TERRIBLE I had bleached blonde hair awhile ago and have since dyed over it with 3 brown dyes just because I kept wanting it darker (using a red filler beforehand of course), and I understand that you're not supposed to put ash over ash... Which is why I decided on the neutral collection because I was afraid my faded, almost dirty blonde hair wouldn't have enough warmth in it to use an ash based dye. However it looked very gold and orange in some spots so I didn't want to use a warm dye because I was afraid it would turn out too warm... So I decided on the dark neutral brown. Well... It turned BLACK. And not just black. In the light it looked extremely bright bluish purple. Since when are blue and purple neutral??? So I thought, okay, I'll just shampoo it a bunch and soak it in lemon juice to at least get out the blue and purple. Nope. It just turned a gross gray color. Not impressed. And I only kept the dye in my hair for a minute at the MOST before it was stained with the hideous color. Hopefully I'll be able to fade it out and buy a different dye to cover up this mess. It might work better on virgin hair but I wouldn't even risk it. December 10, 2014
Why would 4NN turn coal black in the bowl ??? Ok, I have never had a problem with Ion before. But I got liquid (on accident vs creme) and I thought Gee, I'll go from 5G to one shade darker 4NN. Yes I figure all told it will look about 1.5 to 2 shades darker on me because neutral vs gold. But it turned black as coal in the bowl. I had it on my fine hair about 5 mins in front and 2- 3 on back of hair. Freaked out and washed it out. Bottom 1/3 of my shoulder length hair (far from virgin but still not destroyed by any stretch# was black! Only reason rest wasn't was I washed it out so fast. I fixed it by puttiing dawn on the ends after it dried and soaking ends in 3 clear scalding hot bowls of water. Bingo. So now I wonder.... is 5NN going to be ok for me to use next time? Or am I better off with 5N with 4N #non intense). I picked intenese to go with 10 volume sensitive scalp developer because I wanted color to last longer and cover few grays. Hmmmm.... But it never should have turned black as coal in 5 mins in mixing bowl.... November 10, 2014
PPD FREE!!!! I have not dyed my hair in 2.5 years since I found that I have a terrible reaction to most dyes as they contain PPD! 1) I love the color, yes a bit darker than expected, but I figure that is okay, it will last longer 2) My hair is super shiny and soft! 3) The sensitive scalp enhancer kept it from itching at all while being processed! I have searched for a PPD FREE product for a long while. This is great, I no longer have to look older than I am! Yay! October 6, 2014
I have used cheap box dyes before and they have always ,made my hair very dry but this dye was incredible. It burned a little but it wasn't enough to make me not use it anymore. I love how much shine there is to my hair now and there was hardly any hair fallout. Way better quality than cheap box dyes. Plus there is a lot more shades to choose from. I would definitely buy it again. I hope the lasting power is good too but I have good expectations for this dye. June 4, 2014
