Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wella Color Charm 050 I love this toner! 1 application with volume 20 developer was just about enough for my shoulder length hair. It transformed my bleached highlight hair with 70% gray to darker silver gun-metal color with a hint of cool violet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Virgin Asian Hair to Ash Blonde I have jet black, long, asian virgin hair. I read up a lot of reviews and watched a ton of Youtube videos before decided on the T18 because I really wanted to Ombre my hair ash blonde. I bleached my hair three times and used up to 2 bottles of the Wella toner. After the bleaching process my hair was brassy yellow and orange. I rested my hair for 3 days and moisturized it with pure extra virgin olive oil overnight. I washed out the oil with conditioner and towel dried it before putting on the first bottle of toner using a 20 vol. 1st toner result - didn't remove the brassiness but did kinda of "neutralize" the warm tones 2nd toner result - ash blonde at last! It's still not as ash blondy as I wanted it to be but it finally removed the brassiness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE T18! HATE T35! I absolutely LOVE T18! But, T35 is a total waste of money! I've gone back and forth between brown and blonde for years, and T18 always takes my hair to a super pale blonde, sometimes completely white. It's perfect to get me to an all over, even, light base, no matter how brassy my hair gets during bleaching! I swear, I can come out looking like a cheeto puff after a bleach job and T18 takes it all away! For the past year and a half my hair has been my nautral brown, and I decided it was again time to go back to blonde. I took my trip to Sally's to get my supplies. I grabbed my T18, but then realized the actual color I wanted to dye my hair after toning was the same as T35. So, I dropped the T18 and bought the T35 to see how it toned. Of course, after bleaching, my hair was fifty shades of brassy. Mixed 1:2 ratio of toner to 20vol developer, left on my hair for 35 minutes. This toner didn't do a single thing to my hair! It did not lift any brassiness, it did not even any of the color, and it looks the EXACT SAME as it did before I applied it! Now I've done two heavy duty processes to my previously virgin hair, and it's a mess! If I want to fix it, I'll have to do another tone with T18 and then dye. My poor hair! My recommendation? If something has always worked, there's no point in doing things differently! T18 can't be beat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wells Color Charm Toner T14 I originally bleached my level 7 roots, and various level 8-10 ends (not ombré, just really grown out highlights). The roots were very yellow, and the ends ranged from orange to white. I tried the Wella Color Charm toner T18 first, to try and counteract the yellow, but the dye load was too light. Even after 30 minutes, there was little change to my roots. So I decided to try T14, since it was a blue violet instead. I left it on for 25 minutes, which was how long it took to notice the roots were less yellow. It is so much better. Still not the platinum I want, but a much more livable result until my hair is rested enough to bleach wash. I really like this stuff, and my hair is not anymore damaged than it was before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved My Yellow/Brassy Hair The story starts with me driving half an hour to a nice salon to get my last year brown dyed hair back to blonde. $250 later my hair was brassy and yellow. I drove back for a toning treatment and some additional highlights and still came home feeling defeated. After researching online, I went to Sally Beauty. The associate right away recommended the Wella Color Charm T18 and 20 developer. She told me to mix 1:1 and leave on for just a few minutes since I wasn't "super brassy". I wasn't sure how to wash my hair before, so I washed it as normal with shampoo and conditioner. I later read that you should just shampoo. After I was done, I still wasn't satisfied, so I waited a week and went back. I applied the T18 and 20 in the recommended 2:1 ratio and left it on a total 15 minutes (from start to finish) - and I love the results! I used a basic shampoo to "prewash" and no conditioner this time. After the toner treatment I washed with platinum shampoo and used a hydrating conditioner. Some of my brightest highlights seem a little silvery, but I'm cool with that. It's toned down the yellow and brass overall and I couldn't be happier. Super cheap solution, too, plus saves me an hour of driving!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Made my hair darker So I bleached my hair through a cap and it came out nice, but had too much orange/yellow in it. I liked it, but wanted more blonde, less orange. So I did a lot of research and came across all these wonderful ratings for Wella T18 taking orange and turning it into blonde. I watched video after video and read review after review. Seemed like a no brainer. I bought the products tonight, followed the directions, left it in for 30 minutes, rinsed, conditioned, blonde hair was now orange/brown. Not more blonde, LESS blonde. I am SO incredibly disappointed. I should have just left it the way it was but no..I just had to try and make it better. Such a waste and huge disappointment for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my life! Ok so I bleached my hair and it turned orange and I purchased the T18 and my hair came out a little too gray so I ended up adding T11 and it all blended perfectly!

i used the t18 toner after i double processed my hair to a yellow blonde color. i wanted to get rid of the brassy color. it made the brassyness go away. but now my hair is super ashy and looks a little grey or green. what can i do

Asked by: Taylorcw
I would try using the T14 toner instead with a 20 volume developer and then deep condition afterwards.

It is ok to use the Wella demi-permanent developer with these toners? I want as little damage as possible. My intention is not to lift, just neutralize until my hair is healthy enough to lighten again.

Asked by: MollyDoll
via package directions: Pre-lighten the hair to desired level before applying toner. Mix 1 part Wella Color Charm toning color with 2 parts 20 volume Wella Color Charm developer.

How light does my hair need to be to add toner?

I recently added highlights to my hair. My hair is naturally dark but I have been dying it dark brown/ black. I wanted almost bleach blond highlights and I've beached the highlights twice, but they are still more of a caramel/orange color. I was told by an employee at my local Sally's store that it was not light enough for toner yet. I have no idea how light my hair needs to be.
Asked by: HNLiberti
your hair does not need to be near white for a toner. that is what the toner is for. just bleach to yellow and wella t14 should be just fine. it will say right on the toner what color your has to be to accept that toner. but your right, orange will not work at all. im sure u have already fixed this by now but if not, good luck

My medium ash brown hair has turned orange-red. How can I remove these tones?

Tone with an ash, blue/green based color

Choosing toner

My hair has been recently colored and ended up turning (instead of an ashy light brown) very orange/ brassy. It is currently a light brown color with way too much brass, expect the ends which are very yellow (still prelightened from anow old ombre). I'm looking tout make my hair and ash color all over so that I can color the bottom to a silver ombre. Any idea on which timer I should use all over to get rid of all of this orange?
Asked by: Montana
I suggest using the Wella T18 or T50. The T50 has a more silver, cold look whereas the T18 is more ash blonde.
