Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful pigment I bought this about a month ago and I was scared to death of how red it was and when I washed it out I was even more scared but after two days of not washing it just my hair line to get ride of the dye I washed it with color protection shampoo and I was in love I suggest a vol 30 developer to get a nice dark red with so many bright red highlights I will be buying more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this I used 2 magenta 1 red and it turned it as I wanted it. I've always wanted hair that's red but not too red it's truly beautiful. I also used a 30 volume developer and it didn't make my scalps itch it felt like nothing was on my head. I'd do it again.

My hair is already a red but is faded should I mix the magenta and red together or just use the red? I don't want it to dark but not to light either.

Asked by: Samantha800
I always mix both of those colors and I love it

Can aluminum foil be used with highlights?

Asked by: garitson134
They can but to be honest L'Oréal is a one man show you don't need any added materials beside developer and you'll get amazing results. I've been using L'Oréal red and magenta for about two years now.

I dyed my hair using this product, I'm kind of over it and just want my natural hair color back. Will taking the color out using a color remover, restore my hair to its natural color?

Asked by: Just23223
Unfortunately no, since there is a bleach enhancer in the developer, you will only be able to achieve getting your natural hair color back by either dying back to your natural color or waiting for your hair to grow back out and cutting off the dyed portion. Using a color remover will only damage your hair and I do not recommend it after using these products.

So I used the red and magenta 5 weeks ago. The bottom was previously bleached so it looked like an ombre effect. Now I have like three colors since my roots are growing out. Can I just reapply red/magenta it with developer all over my hair again? HELP!

Asked by: Danni890
Definitely yes! I have done it for over 2 years and it is fabulous! I use Wella developer (20) for to colors then the generic. Consider that the red bleeds when washing it out but I noticed it's not as much with Wella. My preference is L'Oréal violet and magenta which are what I have used for the last 4 colors. For a whole year I did the magenta alone but mixed violet to create a "crimson red".........I always get compliments because the color is amazing!

I have brown hair  and I got Magenta and 20 volume developer. How much developer to color do I use. This is my first time using this .

Asked by: Neesha94
It usually says it in the box, but it's a 2:1 ratio. So 1.2oz calls for 2.4 oz of developer.

My hair is dye, black. I used the red with a 40 devoloper, it turned my roots red but the rest is still dark. I then uses a semi permanent red to try and lighted the rest of my hair, but it didn't work. What else can I do to get the rest of my hair red??

Asked by: RedRoots
You probably should've stripped the color first as dying it black makes it harder to dye any other color on top of it more difficult. Your roots are virgin-undyed hair, therefore the color is more easily able to soak in the color.

I've used this product for the first time last week. The colour seemed nice but it is still coming off every time i shower. It looks very pale and dull now as if it was a semi permanent dye. Will dying a second time lock the colour and fix the problem?

Asked by: Sofieeee
I've had red hair for over 3 years and still use this product. If you wash everyday, that's probably the reason. The red will fade faster the more you wash. Try maybe two or three times a week at the most. Using heat on your hair a lot can also fade it faster. There are now color depositing conditioners that are available at Sally's (ion makes one in magenta). Or you can also buy a semi permanent red and mix it with your current conditioner. Make sure your shampoo and conditioners are color safe as well as sulfate and paraben free.

Can I use the Magenta on my hair if I already have a black rinse already in my hair. Also would I need to add a developer with the color.

Asked by: Patrice Level
Yes and I would use a 30 or 40 developer
