Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love I have been dyeing my hair purple for about 6 months now and I have the best results with Manic Panic colors. They hold up very well and when they do start to fade, they fade nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, One of the Best Dyes Manic Panic is one of my go-to dyes. It isn't my number one, but it's a good dye, especially for people who have allergies to dyes. Since Manic Panic is a vegan dye, not many people are allergic to it as it doesn't have the chemicals that many other dyes do. This also makes it safe to use during pregnancy, if you're looking to do that. I've only used Bubble Gum pink and Hot Hot Pink Manic Panic in my hair, but I've used almost all the other colors in other people's hair. The results are always very vibrant on lighter hair, and I even get good results from darker hair (as long as the hair in question isn't black or extremely dark brown) Lighter colors of Manic Panic usually do require bleaching, but their darker colors, like the vampire red or after midnite, can go over almost any hair, provided you leave it in long enough and, again, your hair isn't black or super dark brown. (If you're unsure if your hair color is too dark, Manic Panic has a hair color FAQ on their website that can help) Another good thing about Manic Panic is that the dye isn't extremely thick, nor is it super liquid, although it can be a little too liquid for my tastes on occasion. It also doesn't stain everything it touches, like N Rage does. However, Manic Panic doesn't last as long as some other dyes, like N Rage or Ion, as it doesn't have the chemicals that those two do. It's more like it stains your hair, rather than actually dyes it. This isn't really a big deal, as touch ups are a wonderful thing, but it can be a minor annoyance to some people. My advice for making it last longer is only washing it in cold water, which sounds awful and can be, and leaving the dye in longer than it says in the directions. (I always bleach my hair before dying and I leave the dye in for about an hour and a half to two hours. However, I have very short hair) To summarize, it's one of the best dyes for vibrant, bold colors, but it doesn't last as long as other brands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great color I've used the vampire red shade many times and it always comes out great. My hair is naturally medium blonde and it comes out amazingly vibrant even without bleach, also has a nice cool/purple undertone so it doesn't fade orange or brassy like a lot of red dyes do. Left my hair feeling nice and soft and is very easy to apply. Always lasts at least a month's worth of washes (I was my hair about 3x a week).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manic Panic AMPLIFIED Awesome color! I leave mine on up to 45 minutes and use heat. I'm waiting to see if the AMPLIFIED lasts longer than the regular MANIC PANIC. If you want to WOW your hair, use this product! I get so many compliments, you can't believe it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the color. Wish it lasted longer.... Bought this and was sooo happy with it. The color was bright (my dark hair was prelightened) and looked great. Very easy to use. Only downside was sadly it didn't last long. After the first wash a big chunk of the color washed right out. I asked some friends what they did to make the color last and they gave me some tips, which help retain most of what color was left. But sadly it kept coming out. I would still recommend any of the manic panic colors. Everyone's hair is different and will retain color differently. You also have to take care of it differently than non-colored hair. I will definitely buy again in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasts forever Almost every Manic Panic review i've read has commented that it fades quickly especially for being a semi permanent dye. I dyed the bottom layer of my hair with vampire red over a year ago and there are still traces of the color. I'm not sure if my already slightly red tinted hair contributed to the color staying so long or just a weird bottle, but i'm extremely happy with the results. The color is extremely vibrant and doesn't come out splotchy like some other semi permanent brands i've tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I love the Manic Panic Amplified. I have dirty blonde hair and I first used the Shocking Blue. It was a beautiful dark blue and it lasted about a (I washed it with shampoo every other day) before it started to fade. But it faded to a lighter blue then purple then purple-y pink. I would redye it every 3 weeks. That sounds like a lot but over no bleached hair, it's pretty good. Then I used Purple Haze. Which worked just as well. It faded from dark purple to lighter purple to purple-pink in 3 weeks. Then I used Ultra Violet. Which was a beautiful bright purple but needed to be redye every 2 weeks. It faded pretty quickly over dirty blonde hair. I'm currently using a mix of Purple Haze and Ultra Violet. About half of each bottle. It lasts about 3 1/2 weeks and it stays a really pretty purple for about 2 weeks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great color, lasts as long as all Manic Panic I've been dyeing my hair pastel pink for about a few months, and I've used Ion Color Brilliance and Manic Panic, and now Manic Panic AMPLIFIED. I wanted a color that would last longer - my hair doesn't retain these veggie dyes well and I see a huge difference even after one shampoo. Manic Panic is NOTORIOUS for color fading in the wash, but I'd read that MP AMPLIFIED lasted longer (though not as long as I hear Special Effects** lasts). So far, I'd say it does last a touch longer, but it will still fade (for me) after a shampoo or two. Luckily, it's not more expensive than the regular stuff so no harm in trying it. My usual hair color recipe is (on clean, dry, light hair) 1/2 conditioner, 1/4 Manic Panic Amp'd in Cotton Candy Pink, and the rest is Ion Color Brilliance in Magenta. MIX WELL, and leave it on way longer than the bottle says to (these are veggie dyes so it's really just like you're deep conditioning!) I leave it on 2 hours if I can. I hope this helps! **Special Effects is another brand of dye that is incredible hard to find because it's only manufactured certain parts of the year. IF YOU FIND A GOOD SUPPLIER, HIT ME UP. how long does it stay in?

I need it out before school starts and do not want to cut my hair to get it out
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, and thank you for your question. It varies by person, unfortunately. Typically it should wash out after about 8 – 10 shampoos. But that will depend on the porosity of the hair and what hair color you use. Blue, purple, and green have long last pigments, so it may take longer than that to get washed out completely. Also, if you are a natural blonde it could stay in longer than expected as well.

How many applications?

I have long, thin/fine hair, and I want full-on bright pink pigment (I plan to buy Cotton Candy). Will I have to use a whole bottle every time, or will I be able to get more than one application out of each bottle? Just trying to decide if I should go ahead and stock up for future use. :)

Will this work on mix hair.

My daughter is mixed with white and black. She usually has to have a chemical relaxer put in her hair. Will manic panic work on her hair?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it will work on her hair as long as it's not black or a super dark brown.

I have dark brown hair, will Manic Panic only show up in my hair if I bleach it?

Asked by: Lolly
It will probably add some color highlights and depth to your hair, but to get all-over consistency you will need to lighten it.

How much color bleed should I expect after coloring? Will it get on my pillow at night?

Asked by: Purple Wannabe
my experience is that YES, it will get on your pillow if your hair is damp, or if you sweat. The color bleed is fairly intense the first few times of washing. It comes off of my towels in the wash. I recently had some color on my pillowcase, and a good washing took it all out. I did use Tide HE and bleach in the cycle.
