Manic Panic Flash Lightning Bleach Kit is designed for pre-lightening the hair before application of the Manic Panic semi-permanent hair colors. Everything you need to lighten your hair is included in this kit: Dust-free bleach powder, cream developer, mixing tub, tint brush, plastic cap, protective gloves and instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS: MANIC PANIC® AMPLIFIED® bleach kit is designed for pre-lightening the hair before using MANIC PANIC® semi-permanent hair colors. Everything you need to lighten your hair is included in this kit. Please follow the instructions carefully. Tish and Snooky strongly recommend doing a strand test prior to application. (Take one strand of hair and follow instructions.)
PREPARATIONS: 1. Wearing the enclosed gloves, open the bleach plastic bag. Avoid inhaling powder. 2. Empty full contents of bleach powder into the provided tub. 3. Gradually add the developer to the bleach powder in the tub. Using the brush, blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Sometimes it is not necessary to use all the contents of the developer. 4. Apply mixture immediately. Do not wait a long time.
APPLICATION: Hair should be dry and unwashed. Using the provided brush, apply the bleach mixture evenly to hair sections you wish to bleach. All strands should be saturated using the brush or gloves to spread the mixture evenly. Cover the hair you do not want to bleach with foil or a highlight cap.
DEVELOPING: Use of enclosed plastic cap is recommended through the developing process. The length of processing time depends on the natural hair color. The chart below indicates approximate timing required to bring natural hair to the pale lemon yellow stage.
NATURAL HAIR COLOR APPROXIMATE TIMING:
Light to Dark Blonde: 20 to 60 Minutes
Light Brown: 20 to 90 Minutes
Medium Brown: 40 to 90 Minutes
Dark Brown: 60 to 90 Minutes.
Check strand every 10 minutes to evaluate lift. To do so, remove plastic cap and wipe away mixture with a damp tissue. If hair has not reached desired level, reapply mixture as before and continue processing. Do not over-bleach. Bleach can process for about two hours if hair is resistant.
REMOVAL: When desired shade is reached, take off the cap and throw away. Shampoo hair thoroughly. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry hair.
Always perform a strand test prior to full application. Do not apply directly to scalp. Check progress every 10 minutes throughout the process.

Works well on natural hair colorIt works well if you plan on dying it soon after, it was able to bleach most of my hair though as it was previously dyed purple blue, some parts turned a bit green.

Easy on delicate skinI'm allergic to most mainstream hair dyes but I can use Manic Panic brand with no issues. When we bleach my hair, I do it once a month, we're careful not to leave it on to long. I've never had an issue with this product and trust me I'm allergic to so mich stuff.

Great for spot bleaching and root touch ups.I have used this product twice for root bleaching before applying toner all over. It brushes onto the roots easily and did not burn my scalp before I got to the correct lift. I am buying it again. Note, one of the recent boxes arrived without the gloves and plastic cap (it looked like it had been opened prior to shipping). Not a big deal for me as I had extras. Also, I find the plastic bowl provided in the kit to be a bit small for mixing, so I use my own plastic mixing bowl.

Only bleach I will ever use!I was born a natural white blonde, but as it does with many, my hair got darker as I got older, by middle school/freshman year, I was a fairly dark blonde. So I've done plenty of bleach over the last 15 years. With my hair as long and thick it is, I would have to stop halfway because it would already start to have a negative effect on my hair and wash out the first round of bleach so it wouldn't fry my hair, which doubled or even tripled the time process.
With the manic panic bleach, I was able to do all of my hair in one shot *with two packs just because of how thick my hair is* and leave it in for 45 minutes to get the color I wanted and it did not damage a single strand!
There are only two downsides to this product, but it will not affect my use of it next time.
First, the smell of the powder is extremely horrendous. I don't care for the smell of laundry bleach and this was maybe five times worse. But once it got mixed with the developer, I didn't notice the stench, so it must just be the powder on its own.
Second, when I did the bleach and rinsed it all out, my hair was blonde, but it was a very bright cartoony yellow blonde, which I hated!! BUT I went back to my Sallys and talked to the wonderful girls and they suggested a blonde color dye, which would also lighten the natural red that my hair has. It worked and now I am a much lighter blonde than it first was. I think I might try the 40 developer next time, possibly so it would be just a little lighter so I wouldn't need to use the blonde color.
This will be the ONLY bleach I ever use again!!! No more paying 65$ a month to do highlights to slowly get my hair blonde!!!!

New favourite bleachThis is the best bleach I have ever used. I had blue dye put on top of green dye and even my salon couldn't get it out completely before it would be over processed but I was sick and tired of having weird dark teal hair so I said screw it. This stuff lifted my hair from a dark smoky teal to a pastel mint colour in one go! I started at the bottom of my head and it took an hour to get to the top because my hair is so thick and I had to work in small sections but it still didn't feel too over processed or start to break off by the time I was done! The one real problem I came across was that my hair felt like straw for a few days afterward but that's to be expected really. I really recommend this stuff if you have unnaturally/bright colours in your hair as its the best one I've seen to remove them.
Can a person who has never used bleach like this, use the product accurately with dark brown hair?

Definitely. I normally have darkish brown hair and it worked wonderfully. My hair is mid length and it took all of it though.

I have dark black hair and was wondering can u use this with any hair color brand cause I was going with light ash blonde on top

You'd have to look at the specific ingredients when mixing different colors, strengths, and brands. For example, I have dark brown hair and this past year I got my hair platinum blonde/white. What I did was slowly lighten it using natural dyes(naturtint), then I eventually just bleached it, since I pretty much had to to get a light blonde color. Then I'd use purple shampoo to tone it. *BUT: when my roots grew, I just bleached them to get them blonde. Sometimes 2x, overlapping the bleach when I dyed my roots the next time. The reason why I didn't just bleach all my hair: I had layers of dye underneath it. I had an ombré, then I dyed it dark brown. so the process of getting the majority of my hair to a light blonde color took months. I started lightening it about 6 months after I dyed it last(dark brown)to wash some of the dye out, and let my roots grow. Then I dyed it a color a few shades lighter(with the right tone) then continued..then I bleached it. And in between I took good care of my hair and used coconut oil. My point to this was to just make your own judgement calls. and if anything, dye your hair slowly and usually more natural dyes. If your hair is dyed black, I recommend using the method I used, washing the color out, slowly lightening then bleaching. Otherwise if your black hair is virgin hair then bleaching it right away should be fine(I recommend 2 separate times) and then after that, any color on top should be fine. I eventually dyed mine blue using manic panic. *BUT if the color you're putting over it also has bleach, then I don't recommend using both. Blonde hair dye(kits or salon) are just the right amount of bleaching and toning with some color. Instead I'd recommend just using the blonde dye, or lightening to the desired brightness using the bleach, then toning a good amount to get the yellow tones out. anyway, sorry for the long answer, I hope this helps!:)

This product rocks! The person who left an answer prior to my answering, did give sound advice. I've used manic panic over the past 16 years. They're a very old school company. Punks, goths, and stay at home moms have used there products. I brought up punks and goths because this company was the first that made crazy colors to allow "us" and or "them, express ourselves. Bottom line, you won't be disappointed! You have to remember to use a decent conditioner. As I'm sure you already know. Bleach damages your hair. No matter what product you use. I hope this was helpful! I see it was 3 months ago that you asked your question. I hope all went well!
