great for gently cleansing my knee length hair i have naturally curly, frizzy hair. my curls are nothing TOO crazy; they're more on the wavy side at my long length. i found this shampoo in a list of recommended non-sulfate shampoos in a "curly girl method" post online and thought i'd give it a try. i love it! my length never gets oily since it's so long, even after a week (which is how often i wash my hair), so it gets the job done. i felt the need to post a good review and defend this product after reading the others. because i rather like the scent and i don't have to use more than a palm-ful of product to wash my knee length hair. i don't find the scent overpowering. especially after my hair dries. and the lather isn't all creamy like typical shampoos, but it does lather pretty well for an actual non-sulfate shampoo. if you want a mild cleanser for the ends/length of your hair, this is a great shampoo. if you want something to get rid of the grease and silicone build-up, don't expect anything amazing. Gentle I like this cleanser but I don't love it. The bottle is too small, and I don't feel this cleanses my scalp thoroughly. This doesn't detangle my hair, but it doesn't tangle it either. The thing that bothers me most about it, is that it's literally perfumed. I mean serious "perfume". The scent is strong, and it stays in my hair for days. It gets on my skin, and on my clothing, and on my towels, and it drives me nuts. I prefer the coconut scent in other Shea Moisture products. January 23, 2014
Wasn't for us My daughter and I both have naturally curly hair. We bought this on the recommendation of a curly friend, but were totally disappointed with the Shea line, especially the shampoo. Our hair looked dull and lifeless and quite dry after using this. Not only that, but it caused breakouts on my forehead, and aggravated my daughter's eczema. The odor was overpowering to our sensitive senses of smell, too. : ( Our friend is getting quite the package of Shea products when we see her next. We are going back to Coconut Co-Wash and Noodle Head products which work much better for us. December 28, 2013
Better than expected but still not enough I am transitioning from relaxed to natural hair and I was researching and this seemed to be one of the best for me. So, I bought it and tried it. Firstly, it said to work into a lather...and I had to use half of the bottle (in the kit) in order to get a lather in my hair. So, I was starting to get discouraged. I washed it out, and repeated and the lather was easier to achieve this time but once I rinsed it out my hair was still slightly dry and brittle. There was still some moisture in it but it was not what I expected it to be. I would recommend but not for persons with dry hair. It might not work how you expect it to. August 25, 2013
