ion Permanent Creme Hair Color is rated 4.26775956284153 out of 5 by 366.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be Careful but I LOVE it! I love all of the colors that I have tried in this line. It is my favorite however if I am not using HL-N I always have to add an anti red additive or a violet into the mix. I use 2 oz of HL-N-12 and 4 oz ION 40V Sensitive Scalp Developer and mix well (better in bowl and brush method). If I have to apply to my whole head and not just my roots then I have to double everything because my hair is so thick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Redhead! Be warned: this will be lengthy. I've spent a bulk of my teenage and adult years trying to find the perfect hairstyle/color. I am now 37. Through trial and error, I think I have finally found what works for me and want to share. It may not be for everyone, but I've been nearly every style, color, and texture so I feel it necessary to pass along my experience. For years I used box color to keep my naturally brown hair a dark brown/black. It had been salon-highlighted a few times (blonde streaks, red highlights) but usually just a single process color, which is why I decided to save money and do it myself at home. When I decided to have the black stripped two years ago - which I, of course, did at a salon - I went red. I thought it best to continue to go to a salon to keep it maintained as it is both colored and permed, not a great combination if you want to keep your hair healthy. Yet, three factors eventually led me to ION products: cruelty-free/vegan, affordability, and convenience. As someone who tries to buy everything cruelty-free/vegan, ION products are definitely appealing, never mind that they are overall inexpensive. My mother, a stylist, was closer to me to help me maintain my color and curls and she, a frequent Sally's customer, helped me find my shade. Although I love all shades of reds, I tend to be drawn more toward a deep, rich orange or a true red (not a burgundy). I've toyed with the various shades and realize I don't like brassy or coppery colors but I also like deep, vibrant reds that run richer than auburn. Be warned: you may want to ease into the color you think is your shade match. I researched online for at least two weeks before going in-store to purchase the color. Although I cannot remember offhand what shade I initially thought was perfect online, I saw in-store that the swatch was not at all what the online swatch looked like. I ended up buying another shade entirely going solely off of the swatch. My choice was ION Color Brilliance Permanent Creme Hair Color in 6R Dark Red Blonde. It is perfect! I have never been a fan of blonde so the name made me hesitant at first but I am SO glad I chose it by the swatch. Finally, I ditched the expensive salon visits for the same result: a rich, healthy red. We use two boxes of the color and one of the 8 oz. bottles of 10 developer. I have very thick, coarse, permed hair. The creme is harder to mix than liquid products, obviously, and it's harder to get all of the contents out of the tube. Yet, it is well worth it and not a dealbreaker if a shade in the creme suits you more than any of the liquid choices. I have stubborn gray in the front so we apply the first portion of the mixture solely to the roots and time it for 15 minutes. After that time has elapsed, we put the remaining color on the rest of the hair and process for an additional 30 minutes (perhaps less depending on how much it has faded since the last color). We leave a bit of developer in the bottle to mix in with the color after the initial 15 minute root process is complete and that seems to help application, as does the large brush. Upon rinsing, we apply the ION Color Defense After-Color Sealer, leave it for 3-5 minutes, rinse, and then I put a small dab of it as a leave-in. I actually use the After-Color Sealer in place of my regular conditioner now, per the advice of another reviewer, and my color has lasted longer than the first coloring. That says a lot considering my first ION coloring lasted a great amount of time with minimal fading. I can't speak for how this product looks on straight hair or works on hair that is thinner. I have wild, thick hair that is often unmanageable and purposely worn messy. This color maintains its richness with minimal fading, is not at all drying, works great in conjunction with other ION products (namely the color sealer), and is not at all harsh. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it right, as it does in a salon. With patience, you will find your right shade. Experiment and enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ion hi-lift My natural level is about a level 7 or 8. I want to get my hair to a level 10 cool blonde. I have used the ion powder lightner with 10 volume and the ion color booster. This formula leaves my hair platinum white. It still feels healthy and it shines. But im 27 and the platinum isnt exactly my style. I have tried the high lift cool blonde with double 30 left it on for 45 mins and it didnt touch my roots. What can i do to get the level 10 im looking for with out it going to more of a level 12 with a snowy white look.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Medium intense brown Wanted to go from blonde to medium brown so I tried the intense medium brown. It came out almost black. it didn't look brown at all and I left it on maybe 20 mins. The only upside is it covered my hair fully so there were no spots and discolor. This was my first time using this brand I usually use wella

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compliments I've been using 2 Ion dyes for a few years. 7RR and 5IR. I get compliments all the time. People stop me on the street and in stores to tell me how fabulous my hair is. It's somewhere between auburn and magenta. Different enough to get noticed but not too out there. I am in my 60's and have mostly gray hair. I color it myself every 3-4 weeks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blochy results I tried this as I got a coupon to get it free. It left my hair with blotches of color here and there. It had a very lumpy texture to it.

Can I mix both the Ion Brilliance Permanent 5IR (light intense red) with the Demi-Permanent Clear 00? About a week ago, I used a 20 developer with the ion light intense red, but it isn't as bright and shiny as I want. Thanks

Figured it all out myself! Thanks!

When people mix two colors, are you literally mixing them in the bowl, doing a separate all-over application for each color, or separating pieces of hair for each color? I've used 8RC in the past and love it, but I'd like to add a little blonde this time.

Asked by: elizabeth boop
I mix half of 8 and half of 9, and I love it. The result is perfect.

I have light brown hair with medium red roots and was wondering if there were any way I could go to a blonde shade all over with the red on my roots

Asked by: Trishywy
It would have to be with bleach and very technical . I would not advise you try it yourself.

I have medium brown fine hair. My hair is naturally 50% gray. I want to be medium brown. What color and developer should I use? How much color to developer?

Asked by: lola7777
For fine hair it is best to start one shade lighter (Light Brown) to start in a test strand. You will need 20 Volume Sensitive Scalp Developer for gray coverage at a mixing ratio of 1 oz to 1 oz. Timing will be close to the recommended lowest end at 25-30 minutes on new growth with a brief refresh of the ends (3-5 minutes) at the end of the process. Test strand to ensure desired results!

im still orange after 2 bleach baths and a toning yesterday and today a complete bleach and tone again. I use Ion products, always 20 developer. Toner is ash t14. What can I do to be blonde and not orange?

Asked by: Mikasmom
You have a lot of damage to the hair. There is a natural way to condition it back and might help a bit with the damage. 3 egg whites 1 tsp cider vinegar 2 tblsp of olive oil. Wrap it up with shower cap, or plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes. Make sure you beat the mixture first. Then use quick white with pure white developer I would do foils like highlighting. Leave on for minimum of thirty minutes. Remove foils let sit for 10 minutes longer. Make sure to use a great conditioner, I use the ion. Then follow up with leave on conditioners.

What developer should I use with 8N-8.0 Color Brillisnce?

Asked by: Blonde54
This would be dependent on the amount of lift and deposit you are looking for. Please call 800-859-3112 for a consultation or refer to the chart inside the instructional insert for assistance.

This is gonna be my first time dying my hair and my hair is black. I'm gonna dye my hair ligh golden brown. I just wanna ask If I'm done putting the hairdye to my hair how many minutes should I wait to wash my hair? 25-30 min or 1 hr?

Asked by: Trixie35
Timing is all dependent on your hair texture and porosity. Fine hair processes at the lowest end of timing and coarse hair to the highest end. Always test strand to determine the timing and ensure the shade you have chosen with provide desired results.

i would like to see a picture of 305210, is there any way i can ?

Asked by: veraconl There is a model wearing the shade as well as a visual head of the shade. This is a representation of the color but not a guarantee so be sure to test strand to ensure desired results!
