Rated 3 out of 5 by Bleeds Bleeds color last until you wash and then it bleeds horribly. January 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome and simple I had dark brown hair and I have long curly hair up to my waist. I bought 5 just in case but, I only used 3 1/2. I also used Ion Sensitive Scalp developer in 30 Volume. I would suggest to have someone help you. Thankfully my sister knew what to do and she helped me. If you search on Youtube "How to dye hair red without bleach" You will find a lot of helpful tutorials. I watched "x3Haha" youtube tutorial. My hair came out awesome! My roots are a tad brighter then the rest of my hair but, I knew that was going to happen. My sister started from the bottom and then she did the roots last. I'm very happy with the outcome and I didn't have to use bleach for it! I'm getting so many good compliments on it. So, go ahead and try it! December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Trust me, I've Been Through It All I have been faithfully using the RED colour for almost a full calendar year now and I just wanted to share some insight. I, like many other reviewers, decided to try this product after seeing reviews and how-to's online that recommended it. At that time, my hair was a light brown with some blonde highlights. I hadn't been using any permanent colours for a few months, but I had been regularly using red manic panic to give my hair some reddish tones. I really, really wanted to have bright, Ariel-red hair but lacked the commitment. Especially when I mentioned it to my then-boyfriend and he said "Not like little mermaid red, right?" (Who doesn't know who Ariel is, amIright?) But regardless, I found the realization that I wanted what I wanted and I didn't really care if anyone thought I was crazy for it. The first time I used the colour it turned the re-growth from my last permanent colour application Ariel red, and the lengths were closer to a burgundy. Fortunately, it gave this neat sort of reverse ombre effect so I just ran with it for a few days, then I re-dyed it all again. Both times I used 30 volume developer and left on for 30 minutes (probably a few minutes more) The result was more evenly-bright red hair. Still not really Ariel red at that point, but I was satisfied. For a while, I was just doing my roots with the hi-color in red and I was touching up the lengths of my hair with Manic Panic, thinking I was sparing my hair some damage. With each round of colouring (at least once a month) my hair would become brighter and brighter as more and more regrowth kept getting coloured with the hi-color. The only issue was, the Manic Panic was fading faster and faster. So, I now do my roots with the hi-color in red with a 30 volume developer and do my lengths with the hi-color and a 10 volume developer. Ariel bright hair that I get compliments on all the time and it's holding up a LOT better. Some advice for those who had trouble with fading - Quantum Riveting Reds shampoo and conditioner is all I use and I only wash my hair every 2-3 days with COLD water. I also try to use very little product and not abuse my hair too much with my dryer/flat iron/curling iron. Also, if I see rain I cover my hair as well as I can and try not to get it wet. I have had red on my pillowcases/necklines for a while, but they wash out fine. Just like many other reviewers have said, red hair is high-maintenance. Hot red hair is the same (maybe worse?). This product is definitely revolutionary on getting your hair there! December 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Expected The dye came out as I expected. It's a beautiful shade. And if you've dyed your hair before, no matter how long it's been since you've dyed it or how many times you've washed it the dye will still be there and it will make your hair resist from being dyed by another dye. There's a chemical in the dye that tries to prevent the color from fading or being removed so of course it will be difficult to put another dye on it. It's not this dyes fault that you didn't get your expected results, if you're unsure about the results because you have dye on your hair or just want to know what it'll look like then do a strand test. I have had my entire head bleached. Then I have dyed it black a couple of times. The last time I used color remover twice to get medium brown shade. I used black cherry dye thinking I would get a deep red. In reality it looks black. I want a deep red.

Depends on your hairs thickness and if it has been processed before.

My hair is thick but has been processed before. I use volume 30 developer because my hair is in pretty good shape.

If your hair isn't in great shape or is pretty fine, maybe 20 or 10 volume.

My natural hair is a dark brown and this dye I hear is specially for dark hair. If I use a color remover to remove the previous dye what color will my hair turn out and would it be okay to still use this dye?

You can use the remover. Yes. It will only help your hair reach the max redness quicker.

I first used this product with 20 vol developer (I didn't want it too bright). the color has faded a lot and I have some regrowth. Since this is a high lifting product will it over process my hair if I use it on my ends again to refresh the color or should I only use it on the roots? Or can I use the same developer on my roots and 10 vol developer on the ends so it doesn't keep lifting them?

If you're happy with the lift in your ends, I would recommend using a 10 vol. developer on the lengths and using the 20 on your roots again. If the lengths were coloured before and are a little bit darker than your regrowth will be, you can use the 20 throughout again, you just might see a little more damage.

If you're having trouble with fading I recommend using the Quantum Riveting Reds shampoo and conditioner with COLD water. Also, if you just wash every other or every third day (if you can), that will help. At first, you might find that your hair seems greasy on the second or third day, but your scalp will slow down oil production pretty quickly if you change your hair washing routine.
