Can you use wella color charm demi-perm hair color and activator after opening? I only used about half the tube and respective amount of activator, can I save it and use them another time? How long can I wait to use after opening? Thanks.

Asked by: SeaSun11
Yes. I've used open bottles/tubes of Wella color and activating lotion for years. How long is subjective. I would use them within six months.

I am looking for a rinse in black wella charm, do I use Demi.? what is the difference?  I have relaxed hair Thanks

Asked by: Tamarahbirdy
Hi...Sally Beauty has asked me to respond to your question, as I have been using Wella Color Charm for many years. As in, over 25 years. When younger, I originally had dark brown hair with reddish undertones. When I started greying, I was also getting my hair permed regularly (think: the 80's!) Since I was concerned about the addition of harsh hair colors with ammonia/bleach etc over a perm, the woman who was doing my hair at the time suggested Wella Color Charm DEMI. Since it doesn't have ammonia/color lifting properties, it didn't add to the damage that perms were doing. I have continued to use it all these years and still really like it, even though I haven't permed my hair in ages. Even though you have hair that is relaxed, not permed, I THINK the chemicals used for relaxing hair are similar to those in least that's what I remember from the days of trying to straighten my hair...think 70's! (what we do for beauty/fashion, hey?) Demi DOES fade over time, which I actually really like. It means that as gray hair grows in, it is less of an obvious harsh white line down my part. Still can see the gray, of course, but don't have to do roots quite so often, it is more "blended"...especially since as my hair has gotten grayer, and I have gotten older, I have shifted from trying to match my original color, to going much lighter. The effect now is sort of "blended highlights" with some dark in between light brown/blonde where the gray is. Much softer for this older/sort of olive skin. Bottom line: Demi has been MUCH less harsh on my hair, permed or not; it does fade over time, which for me has not been an issue, but that I actually like the effect of. I hope this helps!

7G-7/3 Wella Demi Permanent hair color

I used this for the first time and it came out darker than I expected. If I want it lighter next time, can I use more Activating Lotion? If so, how much should I try first? Thanks

Demi permanent color(any brand) washes and fades out, if it ever too dark, do not panic! Use prell / dawn detergent or an inexpensive shampoo and leave it in for 5 mins, do this a couple times, make SURE to use an excellent mask/ keratin conditioner all the time while doing this! This just happened to me and after 2 days it is perfect!!! Don't damage your hair more, this is not permanent color!!!!

Does this come with the activating lotion?

Asked by: Noodle66
No. It is a separate purchase. Very reasonable.

When mixing Wella demi permanent color with color charm activating lotion the directions state mixing 1 part color is this 1/2 oz or whole tube with 2 parts activating lotion?

Asked by: Dianne59
One part color to 2 parts lotion means for any amount of color you need to cover your hair you use twice as much activating lotion as color. For example, if you are just touching up your roots, you may only need to use 1/2 an ounce of color and one ounce of lotion. If you are coloring a whole head of hair, you may need to use 2 ounces of color (the whole tube) and 4 ounces of activating lotion. I have a lot of hair and if I am doing my whole head (not just roots), sometimes one tube of color is not enough to cover it all. If you've never used this before you may need to start with a smaller amount and see how well it covers the area you are coloring. Just be prepared to possibly have to mix up some more.

I have med brown hair, I used color charm 4n.  Too dark.  My hair is very fine.  Can you suggest a lighter shade?

Asked by: Need help
I used 6W (6/7) Dark Sand I think it is called. At first I was worried because a 6/7 is usually too light for me but in this case it is the perfect shade. Don't leave it on longer than 20 min and it won't be as dark. Personally, I like it a lot and I have medium brown thin hair.

I have medium orange hair from ombre. If I only want to use the activating lotion (no more lifting), would I benefit from 7A or 8A? I don't want it to end up darker... just the same level but a different shade. Thanks!

Asked by: ghabexxaboo
Depending how dark the orange is, you wont see any change using colors that light. If your medium is more a level 5, a 7 or 8 wont do anything for you. Especially a demi color. Unless you actually lift the color (you could always do a bleach bath, its not as harsh) you're just going to end up disappointed.
