Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks Wella For Not Changing I tried so many different & high-end brands of permanent hair color, thinking they would be better. But all they do is MAKE MY HAIR FALL OUT! Now I know why mom always used Wella. It's covers gray completely and is so gentle (1 hair color to 2 developer obviously has less hair dye)! I use both 3A (Dk Ash Brn) & 4G (Dk Golden Brn) and it covers my gray completely. And like mom, I plan to use it into my 80's (who still had a good amount of hair w/o ever using Rogaine)! Longevity doesn't imply an old fashion product. It implies a safe, quality product, tried for over 50 decades! And the price is unbeatable. Thanks Wella for never changing & helping us keep our hair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I Switched I recently switched from the Ion 12 HiLift to this product because Wella was on sale. I was nervous but I am pleasantly surprised. I did not need to use a toner because the blonde was brassiness. I felt like it covered the grey at my temples better as well. I used a 30 vol developer for 40 min. I feel a 40 vol is too strong and risky for me. This will be my "go to" product from now on. I think Wella should package this differently to highlight the fact it is a high-lift product and alternative to a bleach process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE MY WELLA! I have been using this color formula for years with the greatest results. I use 10 volume developer and leave it on for 15 minutes about every four weeks. Just do the roots. My hair was dark and is in some places, but i am getting gray and it covers it perfectly. I use 1030 or 10A, with 10 volume peroxide. 3oz of developer and the one bottle for my roots. I am so happy with the results because it does not damage my hair andit looks so natural. It's the easiest process I have ever come across in my life. I recommend that anyone that wants to lighten their hair, but not bleach it to platinum, try this color and method. You will be very happy and it won't damage your hair. My hair dresser who moved to Beverly Hills, Ca., used this process on me and told me how to do it. It's so easy. And after being charged $300, I figured I could do this on my own. I have had professional licensed peopl,e almost ruin my hair and turn it into cotton. This has never happened with this method as it is only 10 volume and won't damage the hair but gently lifts it. I use an acid based conditioner and shampoo it twice to make sure it's all out. It stops the bleaching process, as it's alkaline. The acid, say vinegar diluted with water, closes the shaft and helps it stay soft. I use argon oil on my hair when it's still wet after shampoo and conditioning. I rub it into the scalp well and the ends, it's never greasy. Love it' it makes it soft and full. Not limp. It won't weigh it down as it's light. I used to use Sealer Plus, but Biologe discontinued making it. So I guess the vinegar or even their Fruit Cocktail conditioner will work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 10AA and toner I went from a dark blonde/light brown and used 10AA and 10A to try to go ashy light blonde. Asked the lady at Sally's if I needed toner and she said no since I was already in the blonde family. I ended up going a banana yellow and definitely needed toner. At first I tried the T37 Wella toner, did nothing. But it's also a gold based toner. So then I got T18 toner and used added 4 caps of Color Charm 050 violet additive. This fixed the brassy-ness. Now I'm at a medium ashy dirty blonde. This isn't as light as I wanted but this is a point where I know where to go from here. I'll just touch up my roots in a couple weeks and then slowly build highlights to get an overall lighter effect. I think it was adding the violet additive that really did the trick. My mom's dad was a redhead and I've always been told my hair has a lot of red notes in the sun. I don't think just T18 would have been enough. Hoping I'll be able to get to the little sample swath of 10AA overall. I recommend these products to friends strictly not as a professional and on the basis that you enjoy chemistry and are okay with your hair not turning out quite right. I enjoy the muddy process.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible T18 + 50 I used 2 bottles of T18 and 3 caps of cooling violet on prelightened hair to 8 level with 10 highlights, with some 7 orange spots. It did nothing, but making the highlights a Little grey. That was all. Would not buy again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed again... I previously tried (and reviewed) Wella 6A needing to get left over warm tones out of my brown hair, which was a fail. I figured maybe the blue based color wouldn't work, so I was recommended to try Wella 6AA, which has an olive base. I didn't get the results I expected. Not sure what my next step should be, I don't want to go super dark. I originally wanted lighter brown highlights a salon botched up royally and fried my hair, by bleaching it 4 times in 2 weeks. I went to another salon to help restore my hair's integrity, which she did with an Olaplex treatment. She also tried a Redken Shades Eq gloss to help even the color out and was supposed to last 4-6 weeks, it lasted one unfortunately, not sure why. I tried the Wella 6AA today, with not a great difference. My hair has faded back to the brassy, red/orange mess I started with after the gloss. I'm at my wits end at this point and am just shy of dying it black or shaving it off. I've tried Joico's blue shampoo, Clairol shimmer lights, and even Pravana's green shampoo for brunettes! Any suggestions welcome!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 7R color I bought the 7R to darken my already light auburn natural red hair and this color is an altogether disaster. It turned my hair and scalp florescent red and looked terrible. The colors for this brand especially reds are OFF

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for brassy hair Have used this along with wella t10 toner and it helps take the brass out of my hair and give it an ashier look.

What i use with wella liquid color?

Asked by: TinaSouk
I just use creme developer
Answered by: ladygray58

are all of these colors just additives??

Asked by: KeishaDJ
These are permant hair colors. Used with 20 vol developer you actually lift your hair color lighter (usually used on levels 6-10). Used with 10 volume it just deposits the color with no lift (usually used with dark colors.....level 1-5. These are not just addiditives! They are chemicals and should be used accordingly. Hope this helps.

My hair is already at an existing platinum blonde silver, but my roots are a golden honey yellow after a few rounds of bleaching. What number would you recommend to get my roots to match the rest of my hair? I'd love to start using Wella products. Thanks!

I need a yellow toner. Will this toner help take out purple hair dye?

Asked by: Kn864149
I’m doing the same thing. Get as much purple out of your hair as you can first and then choose a same level or one level higher or lower in a warm or neutral tone. depending on your desired results. For example, my hair is a level 8 in some places and as high as a level 10 in others. I chose 8n and it neutralized the purple just fine. Just make sure to do a swatch test first!

What does it mean by permanant hair color?? I mean it doesn't go away??

Asked by: Baddsin smartis
It means it doesn’t wash out. It stays until the hair grows out. Sometimes it might fade or oxidize but it is bssically permanent.

So my hair is like a light golden orange and I was wondering if using the light ash brown with a developer 10 to cancel out the orange? What do you suggest? I like an ash brown shade:)

Asked by: MissyDiana
I would not suggest the blonde's way too light and I don't know what I am going to do. Anyone with suggestions for me to go a little darker would be appreciated. They stopped making the color I used......not pleased at all with this color.......

natural hair brown with red, its been bleached and now its a yellow, orange- yuck. My goal and is to have snow. white, paper white hair. I know i need an ash id dull the natural red. what toner, developer, or dye do i need not to be green, orange or blue.

Asked by: samyiamie
Your hair has not been bleached light enough. If you continue to bleach your own hair you will have lots of breakage. Doing it yourself you can not possibly help but over lap the bleach witch causes breakage. The best thing to do is to have it done in a salon.
