What is a heat-activated conditioner?

Heat-activated conditioners use heat to help open the cuticle and allow the conditioner to penetrate hair more readily. These deep-penetrating treatments are perfect for revitalizing dry, damaged hair. After applying the conditioner, cover hair with a hot towel or wear a shower cap and apply heat with a thermostatically controlled heat cap, or a bonnet dryer. Microwavable conditioners heat in the microwave before you apply them to your hair.
