Rated 4 out of 5 by from So close to holy grail status but so far away... I will start by saying that I absolutely adore this product and I wish I could give it a 5 star rating. The dark brown color is a perfect match for my dark brunette hair. Its just a shade or two lighter than my typical hair color which is spot on. This pen provides a wonderful micro-bladed look that I have not been able to achieve with brush/brow pomades, pencils or powders no matter the various application methods I have tried. The inner third of my brow has bald spots and is very sparse which is an issue that this pen solves brilliantly by providing the illusion of actual hair! Sounds amazing right? Well it is and you too can achieve all of this...when the pen works. Straight out of the box for the first or second use, you will be amazed! After that, expect frustration. I store my pens upside down and have tried wiping the brush applicator to keep the product flowing but alas, nothing has worked to maintain the desired effect. I typically apply pressure on the brush tip on the back of my hand and this works to an extent but as I said, that first time or two is the limit for the brows of your dreams. Its also extremely wasteful of the product. I also tried disassembling the product to make sure that the had not dried out and there was plenty of product left. In an experiment, I tried to soak the inner felt tip that sits just above the external brush on the pen as well as rinsing the brush tip itself to no avail. No dice, the pen never worked again. Grrrrrr!!! Ardell, please, please, please offer a solution to this problem?!!!! This truly is the best brow product I have ever used short of this one flaw. At the $9.99 price point, this pen is a bargain (even more so when Sally's has an awesome sale) but it ceases to hold any value if customers only get one or uses before it stops giving the amazing results we have come to expect after its initial use. Seriously, I will never buy another brow product again if this issue can be resolved, if so, please don't ever stop making this pen?! Also, to both Ardell and Sally Beauty, thank you for your continued commitment to offer such a wonderful variety of cruelty free products. I will always go out of my way to support brands that are kind to the furry people in the world. Thankfully, Sally's is always just around the corner. These are but a few of the many reasons I have and will remain a loyal customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks naturalistic Bought this a month ago. Was having the same problem as some of the other reviewers in that it seemed to dry out after 1-2 uses. Noticed when I dabbed the tip in some water, it brought the color out again but would soon run out on one eyebrow. Then I decided to try storing it so the felt tip faces down. Works perfectly every time now!! Creates very naturalistic looking brow hairs if you add it after creating the brow shape you want with a brow color base product, either powder or liquid form. It really does work if you store it with tip down so don't be so quick to throw it away! Only thing is that I wish the product was waterproof. Even when used with setting powder and setting spray, it rubs off if you're like me and tend to touch or scratch that area without realizing it. Wish they made one that was waterproof or smudge-proof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coverage I bought the soft black and it covered my sparse eyebrows pretty good and love the look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessed These are my absolute favourite, though you have to make sure you don't apply too much pressure it works so well. Also, to people complaining they dry out I suggest storing them heads down, (I personally keep it with my small brushes so they can stand) and it honestly takes me forever to go through them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected more I bought this item a few weeks ago and I was kinda bummed that it didn’t work as well as I thought! The product doesn’t come out evenly. Some strokes will be really dark and other times you have to keep going over the same spot. I usually takes me maybe 5 minutes to do my eyebrows (I have very light brows so I have to make strokes heavier in some areas since there’s no hair there lol) but with this product I find myself spending 10-15 minutes trying to make them look even. Personally I wouldn’t buy this again. I tried the Collab brow pencil from Sally’s too and I would use that one over this one any day!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Milani Brow Tint Pen You have to try the Milani Brow Tint Pen, marker. It is fabulous and it lasts for about several months. It's also waterproof. Order it online because most stores don't carry it anymore. I've gone through 2 pens in one year. I highly recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would be perfect if it lasted more than a week This would be my HG brow product if the pen didnt quit after a week. I have this in taupe and dark brown. They never seem to have the medium brown shade in stock but the taupe color is dark enough to fill in my dark brown brows and look completely natural. It really mimics natural hair strokes and doesn't budge till I wash it off. The dark brown is way too dark for my medium skin tone but would be great for a deeper complexion. Unfortunately after a week of 1x a day use the taupe has either run out or dried out. I store it upside down to avoid ink sinking to the bottom but after a week it was useless. This is obviously a common complaint and a shame since it was otherwise perfect. At around $10 a pen I can't afford to replace this weekly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect...please fix this!! May be replacing my current brow pencil...with a few changes!!! I have the shade taupe and it is the perfect neutral shade, not too warm or grey (I use the NYX microbrow in taupe and Loreal brow definer in Blonde). It acts as a stain, looks very natural, and is very long-lasting.. however, there is a significant flaw: the tip dries out after every use. It is a brush tip (not felt tip) and the product stays in the tip after using it, dries up, and no product comes out the next use. Applying a lot of pressure while swatching on the back of my hand removes the dried up bits and gets the ink flowing again. This happened literally the second day/third time I used it so it has nothing to do with running out, but appears to be a design flaw. If the drying out problem is fixed, I would 100% recommend this to everyone. I still would recommend, as the color is a great match for me and it looks so natural in the bald spots of my brow. It almost looks microbladed and you can't tell I am wearing makeup. The smudge proof claims are totally true!! (I cannot say the same for my brow pencil) When I wiped my brow with a damp cloth, it stayed on. Even mindlessly touching my brows all day it did not come off either. Only when I washed my face with face wash did I notice significant fading. There is definitely a learning curve with how much pressure to apply and getting the strokes in the right direction, but I think it is a very great start. With a few changes to the original product, I hope Ardell (or even some other brands) can build on this and make a really innovative, unique product.

How do get it to stay moist enough to work?

Asked by: Kathy2557
I always store mine standing up with the brush end down. Also make sure your brows are lotion/oil/sweat free as the color will not adhere to the skin and make it seem as though the pen has dried out.

No. It’s like liquid liner that washes off when you wash your make up off

Is the Ardell stoke a brow waterproof???

Asked by: Mathena01
depends on how heavy the stroke is. It is definitely water resistant (idk if I would say waterproof) and it is definitely smudge resistant

Is this waterproof and look like real brows

Asked by: KITTYKAT1974
It does not smudge or come off when I wipe it with a cloth or absent-mindedly touch my brows. It does come off with soap and water when I wash my face, but it definitely lasts longer than a traditional pencil

I used this once. It worked beautifully. However, now nothing comes out. I have shook it. I tried to warm it with my hands. Nothing! I have kept it upright. What do I do to make it work?

Asked by: gert0615
It seems like the product in the bristles dries up. Try swatching it on the back of your hand. I did it until some clumps came off and it started flowing again

What is the best way to apply the feathering pen for brows?

Asked by: Teri Leahy
Lay it down flat to apply the strokes,  to avoid the heaviness of the liquid that flows from the tip.
