No, it's not a Protein Treatment. That would be Aphogee here at Sally's. You would use this 'Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream' immediately after giving your hair a Protein Treatment... the reason being that Protein Treatments ONLY deposit Protein (Keratin) in your hair in order to strengthen your hair, (hair that is Damaged, Dry, Brittle, Frizzy, Fly-away, Breaking-off, Falling-out, Mushy, and/or Unruly from any number of things such as all Chemical Treatments-- Colouring, Bleaching, Relaxing, Heat from Irons/Dryers, and the Chlorine found in all water that we drink, bathe, and wash our hair in). A Protein Treatment WILL NOT leave your hair soft & silky... ONLY STRONG. Once the Protein Treatment is done, (which I recommend one do, at the least, every 3-months; or every 6-8 weeks if you Chemically-treat your hair), you must IMMEDIATELY apply a Deep Conditioner, like Queen Helene's, to put the MOISTURE back in your hair. Only after the Deep Conditioning step will your hair be soft & silky. And remember, both of these Treatments, (Protein & Deep Conditioning), work so much better with Heat. Don't think you can put either one on for a couple of minutes in the shower, rinse it out, and get the results promised on the package, (no matter what their Directions say!). Each Treatment must be left on for at least 20-minutes, (45-minutes being best), and sitting under a dryer, for both Treatments, will give results par excellence.
