Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My wife has been using this for years and she hopes Sally Beauty ALWAYS carries it! She says it's a gentle shampoo that still manages to clean really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Generic Brand For Awapuhi sampoo This product is exactly like the original one love it! So glad Sally’s sells this!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Consumer I find the Generic Shampoo the same as the Paul Mitchell shampoo as far as how my hair responds. I did not give it the five stars based solely on the smell of the shampoo as I like the smell of the Paul Mitchell shampoo better, but the Generic shampoo keeps my hair soft and manageable just like the Paul Mitchell

Rated 5 out of 5 by from melon-y marvel I like this just as much as the genuine article. It's light and smells like cantaloupe without being cloying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love I have been using the GV Awapuhi Shampoo for many years now and absolutely love it. I does not dry out my hair and smells great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as good as original! I had been using the Paul Mitchell version of Awapuhi since the early '90s, and can't seem to experience any difference between the two versions......except the price, which is only half as expensive. Same great benefits without any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my all time favorite This smells amazing and leaves my hair soft and manageable. I have tangly hair that is long. Before I started using this Awapuhi products, my hair would break and split. Now it is halfway down my back and people think I wear extensions. I can't believe they stopped selling the Awapuhi conditioner, what a shame. I tried the Paul Mitchell and it is no where near as good. My salon professional started using it after seeing how nice my hair was growing and looking. She took photos and posted it on her website.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Misleading Description The main reason I bought this is that the description said it was sulfate free. I stupidly didn't look at the ingredients listed on the website, but only noticed once I received the product that the second ingredient in this shampoo is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I can't use this product right now because I suffer from dry scalp in the winter and am also a bottled red-head (and I'm trying to keep my color from fading for as long as possible). I'm just disappointed that the description contradicted the actual ingredients. Other than that, it's a okay shampoo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and shampoo This is awesome and I cannot tell the difference between this and the 27 dollar a bottle stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Version of the Original I have used the original Paul Mitchell Awapuhi shampoo, and this is an excellent version of the original. The scent is nearly identical, and its performance is identical. It cleans very well without feeling like the hair was just stripped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from close enough a close duplicate - I want to mention that the previous reviewer ( from Jan. '13) must be comparing this to PM Awapuhi Wild Ginger ...that is a whole different formula. This product compares to the ORIGINAL Awapuhi which IS a sulfate based shampoo. As a pro - price for price, myself I prefer PM ...this isn't much of a savings for the professional since we get wholesale on PM products - save a little shipping perhaps. At retail pricing though - I can see the attraction. Overall a pretty good 'poo

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Um..No. How can this shampoo be compared to Paul Mitchell's when it includes sulfates and Paul Mitchell's doesn't? Please. I give it two stars since GVP made an effort... : )

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Shampoo! I have super frizzy curly hair. I have tried a thousand different shampoo's that would clean my hair of the styling products i put in it but not dry it out. I have to use mousse and hairspray to calm my ferocious hair. I used the Paul Mitchell brand of this shampoo a while ago and I loved it but it was crazy expensive! So i decided to try this shampoo instead. I noticed a huge difference in the texture of my hair immediately! My hair felt clean and smooth and I didn't have to use a ton of it to get a good lather. The smell is different than the Paul Mitchell stuff but it still smells pretty good. Awesome shampoo, I'm happy with the product, the results and the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I have fine, curly, color-treated hair and workout 5-6 days a week. It does the job without stripping or drying. It lathers well but not over-the-top and I am amazed at how clean my hair is every time I use it. I do lather twice but don't have to use a lot either time. I've been using this for about a month so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is The Worst Shampoo Ever! I got this shampoo after my best friend recommended it to me because it had keratin in it and I am growing out of a relaxer. It did absolutely nothing for my hair, it felt and looked the same exact way it had before using this shampoo. Please don't buy this unless you know someone with your hair texture who has used it and likes it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really love this shampoo. It has a kind of pear smell to it that's very faint, but noticeable. I wish there was a conditioner that smelled like it because 'The Detangler' and other conditioners in this GVP paul mitchell line don't smell too great or work well. Aside from that, it cleanses fine but if you have heavy buildup on your hair, this probably won't do the trick since it's relatively moisturizing. It did work well for me though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC I have very thick very fine hair. This shampoo leaves my hair with great body. You only need a small amount to do the job. Love it.

Does it have the same smell as the Paul Mitchell's brand

Smells exactly the same. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was Paul Mitchell in the bottle.

Sulfate free?  How?  It says “Sodium Lauretta Sulfate” right in the ingredient list.

Asked by: AsheSavage
There are different kinds of sulfates, some of which are actually good for your hair, such as laureth sulfates. The sulfate-free craze is based on a myth; you need sulfates to properly cleanse your scalp. It's a matter of knowing the good ones from the bad ones.
