I was shooting for gunmetal grey, after having it bleached, it turned out blueish/green grey. Don't blame my hairdresser! I'm the one who always brings her pictures to match. Can I use purple shampoo to pull out the yellow in the green to make more blueis

Asked by: dutchesss1
This is a great shampoo for blond hair to keep yellow out. I don't know if it has the ability to help with your issue. Is must a shampoo. You might try using a shampoo that helps strip your hair color and then use this to keep the yellow out.

Does this work to lighten natural, never-highlighted/dyed hair?

Asked by: Kbald133
Yes it would if you have natural highlights in your hair. I love it

Would this make my hair lighter blonde? Or take the yellow/brassiness out? I'm trying to go platinum to eventually dye my hair violet or blue.

Asked by: acarrill93
This will not lighten you hair. It beautifully blends out the yellow/brassiness. I am platinum blonde and this is the perfect way to maintain. Careful, if you leave it in too long, you will have lavender highlights.

Can I apply this product 2 or 3 times a week or do I have to apply once a day?

Asked by: Newgirl123
Yes you can. I don’t advise using this on the daily because it can dry out your hair. Definitely use a deep conditioner along with this product.

I have dark blonde hair, becoming more grey. I do not want to bleach m hair but I want all my hair to be more lavender grey. Purchased this shampoo and used it the first time last nite. Will it eventually tint all my hair, not only the grey?

Asked by: KarenStx
No it is for keeping gray hair from looking yellow. Sorry. It still will be good for your hair so use it with no worries

This this shampoo supposed to be used everyday or once a week?

Asked by: Sarahherr11
It depends on how often you wash your hair. If you wash it everyday I would use this every other time. If you spread your washes out, you can use it every time or almost everytime. Tip: The longer you let it sit in your hair, the better it works (5 minutes works great).

How often can this be used? Meaning every shampoo or less.

Asked by: craca001
It really depends on the person’s grey hair. Some can use daily others every other day & even others only once a week. It’s really just trial & error. If it starts turning too BLUE, it’s time to cut back.

Is it necessary if using a purple/violet/toning shampoo to also use the matching conditioner? Or can I just use the shampoo and a good deep moisturizing conditioner?

Asked by: Lexxy321
While I have used both and separate I find the result is more even and natural using both the shampoo and conditioner. But you can get away with just the shampoo if you let it sit in the hair for about 3 minutes.

My hair is silver right now. Will this help keep it that color? I left on the shimmer lights for 30 minutes and it was a perfect silver/tint of lavender. How long should I leave this on?

Asked by: girlwiththesilverhair
The shampoo is every bit as good if not better than the Clairol version so I would use it the same way you were used to using shimmer lights

Can I put a relaxer in my hair and then put the Conditioning Shampoo compare to Clairol Shimmer Lights Original Conditioning Shampoo

Asked by: Malaya 12
Yes you can use this on relaxed hair, but unless your hair is light blonde colored (not darker colors) you aren't going to notice any effects from a purple shampoo. Even though this says conditioning shampoo, I wouldn't rely on it for that. This is mostly for subtly toning blonde hair that has become brassy or yellow.

I dye my hair blonde. Some say this product is good to use on dyed blonde hair. Others say it's really meant for gray or white hair which I no longer have. Can someone please tell me which is correct?

"Purple" shampoo is for blonde, grey, and white hair. There is no "either or" with this stuff. Just be careful to not overuse it or you will have a purple tint.

Better or worse than Clairol? I really don't want to waste my money, but I want to get what I'm paying for. I just went grey but I want it darker and with a purple tint. So obviously I was pointed to Shimmering Lights. I actually want the purple stain!

Asked by: Diedrahh
This product will tint your hair light purple if left in longer than five minutes. Especially if your hair is light in color. I like the body and shine it leaves in the hair. Smells great too!

Is this shampoo okay to use in your tub and sink? Just want to make sure it won't stain. Thanks

Asked by: Irish0801
It doesn't stain. I wouldn't soke in it. It is meant for people with like blonde hair who have hard water and it turns yellow or orange. It is an okay product. Do not use more than 2 to 3 times a week though or your hair will get the purple tint of the shampoo.

Would customers say this is as darkly pigmented as Shimmer Lights?

I've tried a lot of purple shampoos and conditioners and only the richly pigmented indigo ones tone; the pastel lavender ones are useless (for my hair, at least).
Asked by: Brassy
Yes it is very pigmented. Dark purple. It's the only purple shampoo I use because it's pretty affordable ($6 with a Sally's card) and it works great.

What would happen if I used this on all brown hair? Would it be bad?

Asked by: Alex
Since it's made to be used on bleached hair, which picks color up a lot more easily than non-bleached hair, it probably wouldn't be quite as effective. However, it is basically a toner, so I think it would probably work. Purple counteracts yellow in your hair, so any yellowish highlights your hair has would probably come out as a slightly cooler color. Overall your hair would probably be a bit less warm-toned, but I couldn't say for sure. Whatever effects it has should eventually fade with washing, so if you do want to try it out, don't be scared to.
