Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great product, with notable exceptions It's unfortunate that with all the good ingredients, there is also a liberal use of alcohol, which dries the hair, and chemical fragrance, which is not clearly listed on the label: Fragrance (essential oil blend). I do not use any products with chemical fragrance because they are toxic. I'm sad, because I really wanted to love this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells nice, GREAT HOLD, Some White Residue My hair is fine with a 4a pattern. This is very different than the Curl Enhancing Smoothie (I am using their most well known product as a point of reference). It feels more like a hair masque on my hands and during application. There's not a ton of slip and I really had to work the product in to my hair. I rake it through 6 sections of soaking wet hair. When it's wet there's a lot of white and it's quite heavy. When it dries my curls are soft, defined, and elongated. They feel really nice but there is little to no shine and I still see some white residue when I look closely. The curls aren't crunchy or dry at all, just have a matte finish to them and I find myself wanting to spritz with water/glycerin/oil. It's great for curly puffs but for wash and gos I'd recommend the Leave-In from this line or the Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moisturizes w/o Weighing Hair Down-PROMOTES GROWTH I have fine hair but I have a lot of hair. I don’t dye it or use much heat on it; I still suffer damage from the sun and from mild heat damage from time to time (when I use heat more often.) When I use this product as a conditioner alone it helps restore the moisture back into my hair as well as body, texture, and shine. When I use this product in combination with a protein treatment, my hair is restored back to its original state. This product somehow manages to moisturize my fine hair without weighing it down. That is almost unheard of when using all natural products since oils tend to weigh my hair down even if the oils are mixed into a conditioner. I’m truly amazed by several of their shampoos and conditioners but this particular conditioner is my go-to when my hair is dry & damaged. Also, I use this product to promote my hair growth because of the wonders it works for my hair and because Jamaican castor oil is known to promote hair growth. It smells very good as well. The smell is a mixture of vanilla and play dough. Also, the consistency is thick which love. The only downside is that I can’t get this by the gallon for the same price as one jar. Lol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YASSSSSS!!!!!! I used to use the Shea Moisture coconut and hibiscus smoothie which was great. For some reason I stopped using it and have tried various butters and curling creams for my two strand twists. But recently I saw a few YouTube videos reviewing the Shea Moisture JBCO smoothie. I tried it in combination with a light leave in conditioner and Aloe Vera gel. It's been a week and I love the results. I was nervous about flakes based on some reviews but have not experienced any flaking. My hair is shiny with a light hold, no crunchiness. Also I have high porosity hair and may hair has remained moisturized about 4 days in. I was nervous about the ACV as an ingredient but I suspect that helps close the cuticle for high porosity hair to keep it moisturized. Alternatively the people who experienced flaking may have low porosity hair so it would make sense with the ACV that it may not be a good fit for low porosity hair.

Has anyone used this product for twistouts or braidouts? If so, how did you like it? I have used the shampoo, deep treatment masque and leave in conditioner from this line and I absolutely love them.

Asked by: Shannaya
Ive used the leave in conditioner from this line w the gel from this line for braids and they were perfectly tucked and no hairs sticking out. Apple not a lot but a good enough amount that will hold the hair I'd recommend:))

What is the difference between the Jamaican Black Castor oil smoothie and the leave-in conditioner?

Asked by: GabrielaY
In the case of the LOC (leave-in, oil, cream) Method, the smoothie could be used as the cream because of its thicker consistency and they usually help enhance the style. I hope I was of some help!

Why is this called Jamaican black castor oil smoothie when castor oil is not listed as an ingredient at all? Not to mention the fact that it has 3 different kinds of alcohols.
