Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protein treatment I used this product as a protein treatment by mixing 1oz of water to 2oz of protein filer, applied on washed damp hair left in for 10 minutes then rinsed and conditioner. I was amazed at the results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didnt work for me Maybe my hair is just too damaged to hold color, but this did not help hold the color for me. Faded within 5 days after using as directed with my home coloring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and works I get keratin treatments twice a year. My hair is very coarse and frizzy naturally. My hair is naturally dark brown(almost black) and I have some gray on the top that is usually super hard to color. I use olaplex and aphogee 2 step once every 6 weeks. I tried this and it did better than anything else I've ever tried and it was 5.99 at my local Sally's. I only use semi-permanent dye and this protein really help the color "stick". I seriously only dye my hair every 2-3 months and use this diluted with h20 a week after I dye. My hair has never been so shiny and I have been asked if my hair is real...which I'm guessing is a compliment. Really can't beat the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired my damaged hair- Color wouldn’t stick! After so much bleaching and dyeing, my hair was all kinds of colors with stringy breaky damaged strands, dye wouldn’t stick to the damaged hair anymore, this literally fixed it in one use. None of the many shampoos and conditioners with “damage repair” could have done this. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for people who dye hair or Bleach

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's Not For Me I bought this because of all the reviews on here, but I don't know if it's the product or my hair that's struggling. I used it as directed on the bottle and my hair barely took the dye which it usually does a decent job doing, however I used this filler in the hopes that it would keep my color from fading so fast. It made my color bleed and for the first time I actually had purple hair dye stains everywhere after using this. I don't like it personally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great I used a small bottle on towel damp hair and waited 20 minutes to apply color. My hair was fried from multiple layers of color in a short period of time. Like 5 times in 3 weeks time, I also color removed it in between those times. I finally got the color I wanted using this. It removed the brassiness and evened out the color. I wish I would’ve known about this sooner- I could’ve saved a lot of money on trying to fix a bad dye job over and over again and buying more products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Treatment for Dog Groomers I am a professional pet groomer and we use this as a protein treatment for porous or damaged coats. Dilute 1:3, work through coat and let sit 10-15 minutes. Rinse lightly, no conditioner needed. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hair feels great, color looks great I did the spray bottle method, waited 20 minutes, colored, rinsed/shampooed, and deep conditioned. Kind of a lot of steps, but my hair looks and feels amazing. Better than at the salon. Will buy/use this again!

I TRIED to dye my hair twice,I'm a natural 5, I used L'oreal #6 and it turned out a grayish color. So I went back and tried to go darker/ caramel lowlights but it refuses to absorb the color except on my roots. What are my options, I've used this in my dye

Asked by: BabyGirl0085
I use the protein filler directly in my hair before I color , Especially on the ends. This works well for me.  I have a problem with color taking evenly. I use this and the color is perfect.

I have bleach blonde hair with some grown out roots. I want to go back to being a dark blonde without it turning gray or green. Is this what I should be using for that?

Asked by: April2018
Use the red protein filler but dilute the color with conditioner to remove the green tones in your blond hair.

Last year I dyed my hair (that was dyed dark brown at the time) 3 times using bleach. Now when I try to color it a red/brown color the top of my hair looks great but the bottom turns out super dark and almost black sometimes. Will this product help me?

Asked by: AbiWun91
I'm a blonde, but my color was not taking to the ends the same as the top, because the "newer" hair is healthier. It was explained to me that the color sticks to "protein" in the hair and this worked great for me. Evidently the ends have less protein because they're usually more damaged. I use the easy method of adding about an ounce to the color in the bottle when i do my ends, and my hair turns out pretty evenly colored. NOW, if that will work for darker hair, I'm not sure. It sounds like the damaged hair is picking up more color, so it's worth a try.

I dyed my hair with Adore's Navy Blue and it has now faded to a greenish color. Since I've let my roots grow out I want to dye my hair back to my natural dark brown, should I use this product and how would it benefit me?

Asked by: spnarchive
I would highly recommend you do, especially if you bleached your hair prior to coloring it navy. Your hair is currently very porous because of the bleaching, and you'll want it to take the color evenly with your roots. I would also recommend using a demi-permanent color (not permanent). Because demi colors only deposit, it will be less harsh on your hair.

My natural hair is dark brown. In the past 6 months I’ve bleached it 4-5 times and dyed it 4 different colors. I tried red the last time, and after the 3rd wash my hair faded to pink. Will this product make my hair hold color?

Asked by: Jasmine22
This protein filler might help a little with your color holding because it will give the color something to grab on to. But I don't think it is going to help as much as you want it to. If your hair has been lifted light then color is going to fade. And red is a color that fades particularly fast. If you don't want your red to fade the best thing you can do is use a quality hair color, wash your hair as little as possible, and when you do wash use cold water only. It also helps to use conditioner for washing your hair because shampoo makes the color wash out faster.

How do you use this? I dyed my hair and some of it didn't take the color due to being damaged from previous blonde. A couple people told me to use this but I have no idea what to do!

Asked by: lbradley4832
Well, you can use it in a couple of different ways. If your hair isn't holding color...honestly...there isn't a lot you can do except use a semi or demi permanent more frequently. You can't repair a blown cortex and make it hold color. I use this more for stopping my porous hair from sucking up the undertones in color. For instance, if I use a 9A to tone my hair, then the ends might turn blue or purple before I've cut the yellow from the roots. To combat this problem, I mix this with water as described on the label and put it in a spray bottle. I spray ONLY the ends of my hair that tend to suck up more color (if you dye hair darker, you may notice that the ends turn black even when you have a sweet chocolate brown on top). Then, you would apply the color or toner to the roots and midlengths and let it sit for all but 10 minutes of processing time. For the final 10 minutes, mix a capful or two of this with the remaining color and apply to the ends. I will sometimes us a neutral base or one level lighter on the ends to further help with this issue. If your hair isn't taking color at all in spots, I recommend using the Aphogee two step protein treatment (it comes in packets or you can get larger bottles). That will help improve the integrity of your hair before you ever begin. It would help if I knew what color you were trying to achieve. Sally's carries protein fillers that are tinted as well, and sometimes those are a better choice depending on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to combat brassiness, the purple one is great. Going red or from blonde to brown? Use the red one before you color. To go blonde to brown without turning green, you have to introduce some red. I'm not a stylist, but I have 6 of them in my family, so I'm kind of an honorary expert. LOL.

I got my hair bleached blonde, and my roots have grown in and I want to dye it dark brown, how do I use this product to improve the longevity of the hair color and keep my hair healthy?

Asked by: linasiii
I would use this not red.  I was platinum blonde and wanted dark brown worked great for me.  First soak this on your ends (last 3-4“) &comb thru. Apply a gold 6G color +20dev right over that to fill in those ends! Leave in 15mins.  Rinse + condition + dry hair.  Then mix the rest of filler to 6W color +10dev do roots first then do middle hair lastly the ends.    leave on 15-20 mins.  Rinse + condition + dry hair.  Then color with dark shade you want final result to be like 5N (tip the lower you go 4N, 3N the darker it will be not lighter) +10dev roots first then do middle hair lastly the ends. Leave 15mins and check, if its the color you want then rinse, if you want it darker leave on and check every 5mins.  Rinse + WASH + condition (preferably with ion after-color sealer).  Note-  you have to dye it back dark in steps thats why you use diff colors (u can tweak color # / letter based on your complexion).   oh yeah, start with dirty dry hair dont wash for a couple days it saves damage.

i use Age Beautiful 7A, lately I have two shades in my hair, ends brown and in the front of the head black, went to Sally and they recommended Colorful Protein Filler which I tried, now my hair came out completely black, what can I do?

Asked by: cristy1103
I used a natural filler not a color filler. That may have been your problem depending the color the filler was.  You might want to lighten your hair in order to get rid of the dark color. Thentry the nutuaral filler with no color added. My hair was orange gold. The filler did what it was suppose to do. After using that. The orange gold was no longer visible after I put the color on.
