  • Instantly smooths the cuticle and improves elasticity Multi-functional non-ammonia glossing cream Contains active levels of rare argan oil Locks in moisture Refreshes color
One ‘n Only® Argan Oil Demi-Permanent Glossing Cream is what hair color should be. Rich, brilliant colors crafted in Italy are infused with active levels of rare argan oil. Colors are fade-resistant, vibrant, luminous, and true. The Demi-Permanent Glossing Cream is a multi-functional, non-ammonia color that complements One ‘n Only Argan Oil Permanent Hair Color. Refreshes color, locks in moisture, instantly smooths the cuticle and improves elasticity. Perfect for blending gray or toning double processed or highlighted hair while boosting shine.
  • 1. Determine the natural depth or level of the hair. Next, determine the percentage of gray.

     2. Determine the desired level and shade. The mixing ratio is 1:2 (1 part color for 2 parts Activating Lotion).

     3. Wearing plastic gloves, mix color and Activating Lotion in a plastic bowl, using a tint brush (or mix color with Activating Lotion in an applicator bottle, shaking gently).

     4. Apply color using tint brush or applicator bottle.

Processing time: 30 minutes to blend gray hair up to 50%. Up to 20 minutes to refresh color-treated or chemically treated hair. Up to 10 minutes to tone double processed or highlighted hair.

Application for hair has not been colored: Section hair into 4 sections for ear to ear and down the center. Take ½ -inch sections and apply color starting from the scalp down to the mid-shaft (if ends are porous, don’t pull color through). Continue to do this until all four sections are completed.

  • 1 part color to 2 parts activating lotion. Creating your own formulas to achieve custom shades is easy with One ‘n Only® Argan Oil Demi-Permanent Glossing Cream. For example ½ 7N Medium Natural Blonde mixed with ½ oz 5N Light Natural Brown gives you a perfect 6N Dark Natural Blonde.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Black on my natural dark brown hair I got the black shade. I was afraid it would be Halloween black or unflattering one dull shade. It was shiny, dimensional, and didn't dry out my hair. Results lasted me about a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Demi permanent is the way to go! I've been using Argan Oil Demi Permanent hair color for at least 5 years. I'm 61 and have fine hair with a lot of grey. This is GREAT for your hair! It is so less harmful than permanent and when your roots start to show, you use it again. Easy! Immediately after use, it looks fine. But, after I wash it a couple more times, my hair looks fantastic, shiny, and natural. I actually get frequent compliments on the color and shine of my hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dark I don’t know if it’s because I used 10 Vol developer instead of the “activation lotion” but it came out way too dark. I used light chocolate brown and my hair is black now. I accidentally bought the normal developer instead of the activating lotion so maybe that’s why. It still is good quality product just not the right colour

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this!!! I have naturally dark ash blonde that grew out from a chocolate brown I got done at a shop to cover up my bleach blonde hair. I bought this to save some money and because I like the idea of Demi dyes since my hair was fried from the bleach and wanted something gentle. This smells really good not chemical at all!! My hair is so soft and shiny- I’m glad i found this product!

Would it be safe to use a different brand developer with the One n Only demi dye? Specifically, I'd like to use Ion Vol 10 sensitive scalp developer with the One n Only demi dye (instead of the One n Only demi activating lotion which dries my hair out).

Asked by: Tinalady
I’ve never tried that, but it’s possible the percentage (10%) of activator is what matters.

I did 5N Demi strand test for 30 mins. to roots & length. I'm 30% grey & been using permanent dye 5N (my natural color). Should I leave it on longer to cover grey? Should I just do roots if I plan to use every 5 weeks so lengths don't get too dark?

Asked by: SusieWoo
Sadly, the demi permanent will probably not cover your gray no matter how long you leave it. It might blend, but because there is no peroxide it will not penetrate gray so you will still see it. You will need to apply more often than every 5 weeks if you are just trying to cover root growth - I would paint some color onto the full length of your hair to assure good blending. Paint & leave it for the last 15 minutes.

Im new to self coloring. What is color? No light golden blonde? Use Absolute it ? Tx y'all!

Asked by: Sazbeaux0307
Argan Demi Permanent Color is a semi permanent color, however it uses a very low percentage of peroxide developer. This product only coats the hair, it does not deposit color into the hair and shaft because the volume of the developer is less than 5% which is good for someone that is looking to perm and color their hair all in one day. The advantage to a demi, is that it will not damage your hair ( if you use 1 oz. of color to 2 ozs. of developer.

If I want to retouch my blue black hair do I use the very black color or the dark brown color and do i use a 20 or do i go higher on the developer

Asked by: leeana325
This is deposit only color, no lift - would be good for a root retouch, but will obviously not have the tone (blue) that the rest of your hair has - definitely go with Very Black if you try this, use the Demi Glossing Cream Developer that is recommended with these only. Leave on for 30 mins + bagged.

Hi my hair has 3 inch root growth. My roots are 3n, should  I get the 3n or lighter. My ends are an ash blonde. I’d like to blend the roots with blonde. Thanks

Asked by: Jenny911
If you are trying to achieve a lighter or faded ash blonde like your ends may be now get a shade lighter than last time. Do your roots first and blend into the ends the last 10 minutes. If trying to achieve the 3n color then do all over with 3n for 30 minutes.

After reading all the comments, I'm confused if this product an actual a hair dye or more like a toner?

Asked by: Chrissy5
This product acts as a semi-permanent color. It does exactly the same thing that a permanent color does. The difference is that it uses a 10% peroxide verses a 20% peroxide which is more harsh on the hair, especially if you want to be able to perm and color your hair on the same day. ALWAYS, make sure to use the Argan Demi Permanent Perioxide with the Argan Color. I hope this helps.

I colored oops my hair and it left me with a lot of red tones. My hair is a light reddish brown. If I use the Lightest Ash Blonde 10A will it correct this?

Asked by: Numb4Joey
It's worth a try. The color is light enough that it won't make too big a change, and the conditioning effect of Argan Oil demi-permanent color is very nice.

Double processed and toned (bleached) what likely would the results be? And....application and timing?

Asked by: Gailolson
Demi-permanent only darkens. It has no lift, so be sure to choose a light color. I have only used it on unbleached hair, and I love the conditioning property of it, but the color can build up and get too dark on areas that get covered over and over. I try to limit it to roots.

I am confused about whether or not developer is needed with the demi. If so, which one? My hair is previously dyed from a store brand--do I need to do a color remover before using this? I have curly dark hair with a lot of grey on the crown and sides.

Asked by: Amanda E
The DEMI has a specific developer for it; DEMI activating lotion, it is available at Sally's. DEMI- is a glossing color that will add highlights to lighter hair, and tone to darker hair. It will cover gray, but you will need to leave it on longer than recommended. Gray hair will show a much brighter version of the color, so be careful with reds, and golds if you have a concentration of gray in several areas, instead of an even distribution. If you hair is reasonably healthy, and it has been awhile since you last colored it, you will not have to use a color remover. If you are wanting to go much lighter than the color your hair is now, then you will need to use the same brand developer (one 'n only), and the permanent color. If your hair is damaged from bleaching out the color, you are safer with the glossing DEMI, in a shade lighter than your current color.

Would this work well as a toner to make my highlights less brassy?

Asked by: Krob8411
If you are asking about the DEMI, then yes you could use it to tone down brass, or reds. Use an ash shade. The DEMI is a SEMI-permanent hair color, and must be used with the DEMI- developer. DO NOT use another brand developer and expect good results, it won't happen. This product is designed to be used with the specific developers for what you are trying to accomplish. The permanent, the demi, are gentle on the hair, and can help you correct mistakes if you pay attention to what you are doing. The DEMI deposits color without lifting your natural (or not so natural-dyed) hair color. It works well as a highlighter for gray hair if you choose a lighter, or complimentary shade to your natural color, by coloring the gray, and adding tone to your natural color. The permanent will change your hair color based on whether you are going lighter, or darker, and depending on the strength of developer you are using. The ratio is 2:1; 2 parts developer to 1 part color. *** IMPORTANT- if you have over colored your hair it will be very porous, so you DO NOT want to choose a dark shade, or even medium dark shade, as it will over-deposit on your hair, coming out much darker than you think, plus you will have an impossible time getting it out. The colors in this product can be mixed to create the tone/ shade that works for you. It is one of the best hair colors for providing beautiful consistent color without excessive damage to your hair.

I'm thinking of putting the medium blonde over my current medium-dark brown hair. I basically just want to brighten it up a bit. What do you think the effect will be?

Asked by: reese987
High lift hair colors lighten hair all over. It sounds like what you are really wanting is highlights though, not a full color change. I color my hair medium brown using Argan One and Only. I conditioned my hair with a deep cholesterol conditioner from Sally's 1st, and then I used a bleach powder from Sally's with a 20 developer and put in balayage highlights before coloring my hair, washed it out, and then I colored over this with my regular hair color. It created some dimensional lighter brown highlights. You control how long you leave the bleach on and I was conservative. Some people would use a 30 or 40 developer but that is faster acting and less forgiving. I watched numerous youtubes of beauticians doing the balayage before I attempted it.

It lasts a few weeks for me.  However I use color -saving shampoos so I'm not sure how long it would take with regular shampoo. I wash my hair every 2 days. It doesn't have a strong scent and makes your hair shiney.

Asked by: thenightbreak
I used their ash blond demi as I have in the past.  Unfortunately, having lots of silver in the front and salt and pepper, I didn't get what I expected after having used it before.  I tried twice and both times it turned my hair blue.  I got no real help from the sales people and won't use this product again.  If you have a lot of gray, don't use this.  I wish I knew what was wrong, I used to love it.

Can this be used with a higher volume processing lotion to brighten the hair?

Asked by: Allybrat
This is a demi color that is meant to deposite color only. If you want to lift or lighten your color you can either pre-lighten it and then use this product after or use a permanent dye that's meant to be used with a peroxide. You shouldn't mix any lifting developer with this product. It's not meant for that semipermanent dyes and permanent dyes work differently on your hair.  It could be really damaging.

Can I use this to tone highlights

Asked by: Miss brassy
I would use the lightest Ashton's they have to get rid of brass in highlights. 10A I think is the lightest color in the demis. Would only leave it on a short time though. 5-7 mins max. I used it last night and the dark areas of my hair pretty much stayed the same but a tad cooler but the light areas cooled down severely. Worked great. Plus you could always do it again if it still looks orange.

Will this color wash out? I used the demi permanent medium chocolate brown with a 10 developer on hair that has only used demi color before and it looks almost black. I want to get the color out, but it doesn't seem to budge.

Asked by: August22
It takes quite a while for it to wash out.  I suggest using a toner, recommended by a store cosmetologist or get something at the Sally's store to wash it out.  I had a problem with mixing my color (my hair turned a lovely shade of blue :-) ) then, a store manager got me to use a wheat toner (I was looking for Ash Blond) which corrected the color.

You can use this product after using a relaxer. Just watch your hair closely while processing. Your hair will be much more porous and grab the color faster than the directions indicate. You may want to go a shade lighter.

So my friend had bleached my hair first and then dyed it with medium copper brown it turned get my hair color closer to my natural medium would a light or dark natural brown cover the orange? Please help freaking out

Asked by: Jessica26
You're going to need to cancel out the underlying pigment in your hair. So the opposite of orange is blue. So you would need to use a blue toned hair colour (like an ashy brown) to get rid of the orange in your hair. & then you can dye your hair to the level you would like it as long as the dye has no orange tone in it

No, you may use a 30 with a permanent color but not a Demi. Demi permanent is deposit only so you can use a 10 to go darker or a 20 for longer lasting gray coverage and more vibrant color. Anything higher than a 20 mixed with a Demi can damage your hair.
