Rated 3 out of 5 by from 8A after 2 shampoos I lost the ash and my red undertones were back. I may have to go darker shade of semi permanent color or use a permanent color. Easy to use, low odor. I used 8A over golden dark blonde hair

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quarantine touch up My hair stylist recommended I use this on my roots during quarantine until salons opened back up again. I have natural blonde hair and am starting to get some grays. This works great on my roots, covers the grays and is the same shade as my low light. Does not turn my hair orange or greenish like box dyes do. I recommend consulting a professional before purchase to make sure you get the right shade and developer to suit your hair color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for toning highlights! My natural color is a level 3 and had highlights that were turning orange yellow. I saw from a YouTuber Ellenangs that this would give my highlights a nice dark ashy brown. Tried it and it worked amazing! It did not affect my roots which is what I wanted. Left my highlights toned like at the salon!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its blonde not brown I have no idea how this color turned out because I am a huge dork and bought two of these, then after I mixed it up at home, I realized it said medium ash blonde not medium ash brown!!! So I had to dump it because I was trying to go brown. Ayayay.

I want to try an ash blonde shade this product on my 4" of brown and gray COVID-19 roots to make the gray blonde and leave the brown as-is. It says "deposit only" but isn't there SOME lift with the developer? I don't want the brown to change at all.

Asked by: Covid roots
You will not get any lift. You will be able to leave the brown as is. If you want to change tone, you use more developer. If you want to darken the color you use equal amounts of toner and color

I have brown hair. Can I use the 8N blonde color to just dye the front strands of my hair by my face? Will it show up?

Asked by: NellyPet
No, demi permanent color will not lift your hair. If you have virgin hair (hair that has NEVER been dyed before), a high lift color may work. Otherwise you will need to use bleach to lift the hair.

I wanted to use the demi permanent to dye my hair black but the natural dark brown is very similar to the black. Which one is best to use? I have medium dark brown hair.

Asked by: Mariah95
If you want black use number 1N 2/0

I have dark brown hair that’s gone brassy. If I used the medium ash blonde with the developer, would it tone my hair without lightening it?

Asked by: Haley143
My guess is that it would tone your hair without lightening it. Since it's a demi-permanent that essentially deposits color, it may in fact slightly darken your hair. I would leave it in for around 10 minutes only, and then inspect the overall result the next day, since the hair will continue to darken a bit over the next 12 hours or so. In my experience, this color goes well with dark brown hair.

how do I determine which color to choose? I have med-dark brown hair that I was coloring, but I've decided to transition to grey. The colored hair has turned very brassy and I'd like to know what to use to remove brassiness.

Asked by: daninav67
You can use color remover. Apply only to your colored hair. Keep checking your hair until it reaches a light yellow tone. After washing it will be a light blonde, similar to gray hair. Deep condition, right after washing the color remover out. Continue using conditioner for several days, after this process.

What would happen if I used 1:1 ratio of color to the activating lotion? Could it have better gray coverage? Or is it only okay to use this 1 part color to 2 parts activator? BTW I have dark brown hair 30% gray. Thank you!

Asked by: Andreajuliet
Not okay keep your ratio 1:2.   Leave it on 30-40 minutes.  If it doesn’t cover to your satisfaction, wait a week and repeat.  Maybe leave on a little less time if that 2nd is less than 2 weeks later

Do I just use the toner or do I need to add something to it?

Asked by: MarieAnne
You have to mix it with the wella color charm activating lotion.
