Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work This did absolutely nothing to my hair. I followed instructions exactly as I was supposed to and my hair looks exactly like it did before I used this. So, I'm not happy. I used ash blonde 10na. I do not recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No bleaching is the way to go Leaves a red tint so I mix 2 cap fulls of 050 with the mix to dull down the “hot roots”. My hair was already at a level 7 and after trying the Demi color, it came out a bit darker to a light brown. I’ll try 8a Demi color in a few months. I do like he color but never had it this dark. It’s a very easy product to work with and I love that I’m not bleaching my hair! I am happy with my hair and the color doesn’t bleed. Washes out on the first wash. The activator lotion was simple to use and doesn’t have a harsh smell as others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well I purchased this demi permanent to tone my very light blonde hair which seemed a little washed out. I usually use the wella liquid toner and developer and get exactly the color I'm looking for. That being said I purchased the 7A and the wella color charm activating lotion. The color came out brunette which was a bit of a surprise. A beautiful color but not what I was looking forgot, totally my fault, I should have purchased the 8A or 8N. I'm used to toner which seems to be a bit more forgiving. Just a heads up pick the correct color or you'll be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dry hair and lots of fallout! the color was okay, i used black so i expected it to dye accordingly but i noticed my hair was falling out A LOT while rinsing and the days after using it!! It also made my hair feel sooo dry and it lacked shine and was overall really frizzy no matter how many masks and treatments i did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color I love this color , it covers my gray well. I mix it with 8/N. I get a very natural looking blonde on my white hair and it lightens my darker hair that is at a level 6 to a nice color so i have high and low color levels. I use the developer made for the demi permanent color

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blonde to Brunette (7a + 8a) My hair had turned yellow & brassy. I was over the blonde maintenance (where it looks gorgeous for 1-2 weeks and then it’s downhill from there). I’m naturally a 2. My hair was everything 5+. I brought the 7a & 8a. Mixed both hoping for a light brunette based on other reviews. Light brunette is exactly what I got! (Definitely don’t go this route if you’re looking to stay blonde.) My hair looks and feels surprisingly healthy. If you’re ready to say bye to blonde, this is your solution!

Does this have to go on dry hair?

Asked by: Kikicat1
No it does not.  I have put it on my towel dried semi-wet hair several times

My hair is around a level 6/7. It’s a reddish light brown with gold accents, naturally. I have never dyed my hair but I want it to be darker, like a 4/5 but NOT BLACK. These reviews say the demi colors come out very dark. Any idea what color I should use?

Asked by: Mmkro201
Demi permanent color deposits color only. There is no lift so it will just add color and it does end up darker that with permanent color. Start with a test strand with your normal color level 6/7 and see what it looks like. I just used a 6 and 7 mix and mine came out a medium brown and I have at least 60% gray mixed with a medium brown. You can always go darker but you can’t lighten it with demi permanent so it’s best to start with the lighter colors and work your way to darker. I might even try 7/8 just to be safe and do a strand test.

I have dark brown hair. I am wanting to get a rich very dark (not quite black) hair. Recommendations on color/colors and ratio? Thanks!!!

Asked by: Iman2019
I have dark brown hair, with about 40% grey, mostly on top of my head. I use 3N-Natural dark brown and get a very dark brown that is very close to my natural color. Not black, but close. No reddish tones. It looks great and not harsh. I follow the directions and use 2:1 ratio, with 2 parts ten-volume activator and 1 part color. I highly recommend using protein filler with this to avoid uneven color. Either apply the undiluted protein filler to hair 20 minutes before coloring, or color your roots and then add protein filler to the remaining color and apply to the ends. This color lasts forever and covers my grey. My roots grow out before the color fades, so I only do the ends every few months.

Getting ready to use the wella color charm demi permanent 4N color, to cover gray roots. I have about 70% gray at top front of my head, and about 40% going to back of my head. I'm 45, with curly, coarse, and dry hair, and gray is resistant. Will it be?

Asked by: KarenM57
I have a lot of grays, have really dark brown natural hair and regularly use 4N. I have not had any trouble with coverage, but don't exactly follow the directions. I apply to just the roots and cover with a shower cap for 25 min - this traps heat and helps the color set. After 25 min I apply to the rest of my hair, put the shower cap back on and leave for an additional 5 min before rinsing/showering. If you are switching to a new color vs. using a new color, you might want to start with all over application. But if you stick with this color, you can use the root application. After you shower, use a really strong conditioner and your hair will look and feel great!

My natural color is dark brown. If I want to a little bit light in ash tone, should I mix a little bit of ash blond to medium brown (4N)? Thanks.

Asked by: Snoopooh
No 4n will dominate, you could use 4n With a 5. 5g will add A little gold tone 5r A little red tone and so on.

I recently bought two separate products, one for my roots as my natural hair has grown out, and this product, the medium ash blonde to cover the blonde. Can anyone tell me if I can use this on damp hair as I have to do my roots first.

Asked by: AmberT30
You should dry your hair completely before your final color. (For super results)

My present color (ed) is a chestnut color which seems very dark, more brunette. I want a nice warm med-dark blonde. What shade should I use? Am afraid the color will go too dark! Hv very minimal gray around edges.

Asked by: ainvar28273
Color Charm Demi will cover about 60% of the gray. Choose a light ash blonde color. Mix 2 parts color lotion, to one part color. Apply color, cover with a plastic grocery bag. Apply heat with a blow dryer every 10 minutes for an hour, at least. It will not damage your hair. I leave mine on for 90 minutes. The darker colors will darken your hair. Be sure to use the lighter shades. The ash colors, cancel out red hues.

I have long platinum hair and haven’t done my hair in at least 2-3 months. I want to do a shadow root to keep it more low maintenance and add some lowlights. My natural color is dark brown with gray hair. please help! What color should I get for my roots?

Asked by: PalinK92
You could try the 7n with the color charm Demi developer. I think it’s only 9 vol shouldn’t be too dashing. If not dark enough try the 6n. You could add a dab of ion cool additive to ensure it doesn’t pull warm. When your roots grow in you might switch to wells permanent to touch them up and use a 20 vol.
