Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color is very dark/reddish I purchased 6N Dark Natural Blonde with the Color Charm activating lotion and colored my hair today. My hair is naturally a light ash brown. I have blonde highlights that I haven't retouched in about 8 months, and I have about 5-10% "gray" hair that is growing in a blondish color similar to my highlighted hair. After reading reviews that demi-permanent color shows up a shade or two darker than the package says, I bought dark blonde hoping it would turn out light brown. It actually came out medium brown, a little darker than I would like. And unfortunately, it turned out very reddish, almost auburn. I'm hoping it fades quickly as color this dark and this red doesn't look very good on me. The hair color was extremely easy to mix and apply. And it took only 20 minutes. My hair feels extremely soft and looks shiny. I did meet a very helpful salesperson at Sally Beauty who helped me find what I needed to color my hair as I am inexperienced at it. I would recommend this product, but I would caution anyone buying it that it is very, very dark and adds redness to the hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft and shiny hair!! I used 5g light golden brown . I am extremely experienced on coloring my own hair.now I have never used this particular brand wella demi permanent ..color charm brand...I read the reviews ..turns out way too dark..ugh!! Didn't want to go back and exchange it! I had brown roots about level 6...highlights also..med gold and some light golden .. so how am I going to make this work right! Well I did..night before I applied a thin layer of coconut oil and slept with it in..I do have dry slightly damaged...not bad though...next day mixed one tube of color with the recommended activation lotion.. 4 ounces with the 2 ounces of color.always use this with this developer with this brand only! I kept watch and yup started getting dark..so...started finger tipping water into the roots to dilute the process.. couple of seconds go by same to rest of hair...still keeping watch..while mushing around the color..left on only 10min...I did wash it which I never do and conditioned . And it turned out awesome...and yes! The color did deposit using coconut oil!!!! How long will it last I don't have that information as of yet...I will use this method with this brand again may leave it on 15mins...next time...I do not recommend using the heat method it says you can do..and another little tip if it is way too dark for you I suggest getting a hooded dryer put lots thick conditioner on your hair a processing cap and sit under that dryer for at least 30 mins at a time few days a week this will get it out quicker the healthier way.i can only suggest what works for me on my hair ..lots of luck:)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great colour.... I loved the hair colour, perfect black shade but faded really quickly (on preciously coloured hair & virgin hair). Hair doesn’t feel anymore damaged than prior to using this dye.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this hair color! This color perfectly matches my natural hair color. I use it every few weeks to cover up grays near my temple and it blends in perfectly and my hair always looks so much shinier and healthier after using!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Natural color revitalization Wonderful product that leaves my hair looking great. It irritates my, same age, husband because I’m always getting compliments on how young I look. When I ask for a senior discount, I am often asked for proof by the skeptics.

I just used 5N on my hair and it came out a little darker than I wanted. I'm planning on redying in about a month but just wanted to know if this product will be safe to try a lighter shade next time like 6N? Any help is appreciated :)

Asked by: sophiesmom00
use half and half. I use different shades but The principle the same. If it is still too dark you can then adjust accordingly next time

If I mix one tube of wella demi permanent color with more than recommended activation lotion will this help too lessen the chances of it turning out to dark?

Asked by: Lisalou22
ive never moved a whole tube. generally ota a2 to 1 ounce ratio, abd you could use abit more activator but the color probably would not change substantially. the color is the color

I have been using 4N/4O but it is coming out rust colored on a few hard to color gray spots on my head. What is the next best color and number for me to purchase? Thank you

I was told never use an ash-based color if I didn’t want to pull the red

How do I use this products as a toner to tone brassy highlights? I bought 7a. How long would you recommend leaving it on and is it better with towel dried or totally dry hair?

Asked by: Missy225
Apply to all hair After 10 minutes, clean a small strand of hair check color, if it needs more time check every five min. Debth of ash will be after 30 minutes.

Does this work on overly sensitive scalp?

Asked by: beth2019
I have a very sensitive scalp and I started adding argan, jojoba or other similar skin oil to any developer I use and they don't burn my scalp plus it keeps my fine hair from getting dry from any hair color. For mr the oil doesn't affect the hair color or timing.

I have been using permanent hair color for years. Recently I’ve been diagnosed with scalp psoriasis and the permanent hair color has been burning my scalp. What can I use to cover my 50% gray hair?

Asked by: Judyhocks
I have a very sensitive scalp and I add argan, jojoba or other similar skin oil to the developer and it doesn't irritate my scalp and doesn't affect the color or timing. And the oil helps to not dry out my fine hair.

Using semi-permanent hair color one hair color is too light the next shade is too dark

Asked by: cindy780
I find the semi-permanent hair color, especially from certain brands is washes out so quickly that even if it's too dark.... it'll lighten up after several washes.

I'm allergic to ammonia so a demi without ammonia would be a good option. I would like to turn it into a permanent by mixing it with a 20 vol developer for sensitive skin, but don't know which one would work best?

Asked by: Sudbury Saturday Night
If you’re looking to cover grey, the demi does a pretty decent job.  Not sure what the peroxide would do to the demi color, but could make it not last as long or, make it more of a translucent color.  If you’re staying with your natural level of color and covering grey, you can always try less developer.
