Rated 1 out of 5 by from NEVER USE THE DARK NATURAL BLONDE COLOR I used the dark natural blonde color as they discontinued the shade that I normally used. This color turned my hair a reddish black that has been horrible to get out and color correct.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WAY TOO DARK I used this color on a client because I love Wella's toner color collection and figured the color charm should have an equal standard. I used the color 5N "LIGHT natural brown" light natural brown my a** their level 5 is basically a level 2 it looked black. extremely unhappy DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT and if you do, always use 2-3 levels lighter than what you want. Absolutely horrible.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loved Wella Demi 7NA doesn’t cover grey hair . I’ve used wella Demi for quite some time and I’m really disappointed.Wonder if they’ve changed some chemistry in the product?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wella love I love this color. Wella products smell less than others and rinse cleanly out of my hair. My hair feels soft and silky instead of damaged. Being demi-permanent it slowly fades so I don’t have strong roots

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but color is very dark It is supposed to be medium blonde but my hair is medium brown. There’s nothing blonde about this color. BUT it went on well and my hair feels great. I will continue to try to find a lighter color

I have been highlighting my own hair. I would like to add some lowlights. Question is has anyone combined the color charm Demi perm. 8N & 7A before? I also have the 7N. I just want a good blend of dimensional blonde.Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Asked by: LuLu5309
I have been coloring my own hair for about 15 or 20 years. I started using one color, 10NG, with lighter highlights, 8NG, however, I now have a lot of grey so I've added the 7NG as lowlights. The 10NG is very hard to find now, possibly discontinued, so I sometimes mix 8NG and 7NG for the primary color. I use foil to separate the high-lighted and low-lighted sections and to help keep them from blending into the primary color. I frequently wear my hair up with hair pieces added which also have a lot of different shades in them and they look very natural on my blended shades of blonde.

Hi, I recently cut all my hair off to let my gray hair grow out. I hate it. My hair is 99% gray/white around my face, but salt and pepper in the back. I don't want a permanent color just yet. Will this provide any coverage?

Asked by: bodhiasa
Yes! My hair is 80% gray. My natural color is brown. I use color 6N  I’ve been using the same for years. About every 5 weeks I put color on my roots for 20 min then put the rest on and work it in all of my hair for 5-10 minutes longer.  I hope you love it.

What makes this different from a permanent hair color? I stopped using it, and after 10 weeks (approx 30 washes) I got a very faint lightening of the color along the gray line, but it definitely didn't 'wash out.'

Asked by: Kksckksc
Any haircoloring can build up in your hair depending on your hair and type of colorant. Demi is a gentle deposit only color option to permanent haircolor. If you want a less permanent solution, use a semi-permanent hair color. That "washes" out at an easier rate than a demi would. Happy hair coloring!

When rinsing out the hair color, should I use shampoo and conditioner, or just rinse until water is clear (without shampoo) and then condition hair? Thank you!

Asked by: AndreaJuliet
I've done both. If you choose to use shampoo and conditioner it will not affect the outcome.

I have naturally medium ash blonde with lots of gray grown out about two inches.  Previously I had medium neutral blonde highlights & light brown lowlights.  It is at 4 months out brassy.  Would light ash blonde semipermanent tone it?

Asked by: ALPCES68
Sallys also carries toners. Put toners in the search bar and it will bring them up. A Demi will not tone it will just dye.

Asked by: Joyce Fernandes
Even though it says it is a demi color/smi--perminent color. It will cover gray hair very well. And with my experience with this color, it last until your roots grow out and it's time to color again.

I want to try an ash blonde shade this product on my 4" of brown and gray COVID-19 roots to make the gray blonde and leave the brown as-is. It says "deposit only" but isn't there SOME lift with the developer? I don't want the brown to change at all.

Asked by: Covid roots
You will not get any lift. You will be able to leave the brown as is. If you want to change tone, you use more developer. If you want to darken the color you use equal amounts of toner and color

I have brown hair. Can I use the 8N blonde color to just dye the front strands of my hair by my face? Will it show up?

Asked by: NellyPet
No, demi permanent color will not lift your hair. If you have virgin hair (hair that has NEVER been dyed before), a high lift color may work. Otherwise you will need to use bleach to lift the hair.

I have dark brown hair that’s gone brassy. If I used the medium ash blonde with the developer, would it tone my hair without lightening it?

Asked by: Haley143
My guess is that it would tone your hair without lightening it. Since it's a demi-permanent that essentially deposits color, it may in fact slightly darken your hair. I would leave it in for around 10 minutes only, and then inspect the overall result the next day, since the hair will continue to darken a bit over the next 12 hours or so. In my experience, this color goes well with dark brown hair.

how do I determine which color to choose? I have med-dark brown hair that I was coloring, but I've decided to transition to grey. The colored hair has turned very brassy and I'd like to know what to use to remove brassiness.

Asked by: daninav67
You can use color remover. Apply only to your colored hair. Keep checking your hair until it reaches a light yellow tone. After washing it will be a light blonde, similar to gray hair. Deep condition, right after washing the color remover out. Continue using conditioner for several days, after this process.

What would happen if I used 1:1 ratio of color to the activating lotion? Could it have better gray coverage? Or is it only okay to use this 1 part color to 2 parts activator? BTW I have dark brown hair 30% gray. Thank you!

Asked by: AndreaJuliet
Not okay keep your ratio 1:2.   Leave it on 30-40 minutes.  If it doesn’t cover to your satisfaction, wait a week and repeat.  Maybe leave on a little less time if that 2nd is less than 2 weeks later

I’m trying to get a dark blonde to light brown overall color, currently I have a medium blonde and know Demi’s are really strong deposits. Which should I get?

Asked by: NicoleeG
Yes, demi’s have really strong deposits, which is a good thing.  With that in mind, I mix half 5N 5/0 (light natural brown) and half 6G 6/35 (dark golden blonde) to get medium brown hair.  The color description on the box is not very accurate.  Using this combo, my hair color is no where near light brown or dark blonde.  It is definitely darker - a medium brown color.
