ion Color Brilliance Master Colorist Series Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is the new tonal series in demi-permanent hair color. This master colorist series combines warm pastel pigments with saturated matte dyes to create a melting of colors. Also the intense pigmentation energized by luminescent micro pigments provide a metallized, polished finish.

The Demi collection offers a state-of-the-art European ionic formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. Also the Demi collection covers and blends gray hair without lifting the hair's natural pigment, providing same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

  • Select desired shade. Mixing ratio can be either 1:1 or 1:2.  Mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Master Colorist Series Demi Hair Color with 2 oz. or 4 oz of ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl.

All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A i5-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.

  • Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Master colorist series Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing.

Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome Smoky Gray colour! I applied Chrome Demi Permanent mixed with a few drops of Wella T18 toner and 1 drop of Blueing with 10% developer 1:1 on my virgin 90% white (gray) hair today and the colour is terrific Smokey-Gray/Silver. Processed with a shower cap 1 hr. The tone is about two shades darker with shiney silver highlights. No yellow or gold tones is what I was hoping for and it tured out perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True Silver Color! This works great! To get best results you need at least a level 9 blonde, then your hair before dying. If your hair is damaged, use Ion absolute perfection 2 step system when dying. It's a process, but you will LOVE the results!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing for medium blonde brassy hair I had dyed my hair to a level 7 medium blonde and the roots were ORANGE. Applied the chrome with a 10 developer (1:2 ratio), left it on for 15 minutes, showered, applied what was left in the bowl to my towel dried hair (just to the roots again), waited 10 mins, washed and conditioned. AMAZING. The orange is gone and it's not silver, just a perfect neutral color to match my ends that always stay on the ashier side. Like I said, my hair was dyed to a level 7 medium blonde to begin with so I was not lightening or darkening, just depositing the silver/ash onto brassy orange roots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really loved the results So I started off with a level 8/9 and had previously toned it with wella t18 a few weeks back. Decided to try this out since I've never tried a chrome color before. It's Demi so I figured it'll wash out within weeks if I didn't like the results. I mixed the color with a 20 volume developer and applied it on my damp hair for about 20 minutes and the results came out better than I expected.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from i want to brag........ I use the ion chrome regularly. It washes out by 2 weeks wear. I have found that a few drops of blue/black help it to last a week or so longer. Always ends up with blond hair. My natural color is black. I bleached it out to palest color I could before first use. Now I may use a higher developer like a 30 and it comes out fine. If not a lot of new growth when I re-use, I only need a 20 volume developer. Recommended for short term color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best silver dye I had platinum hair (almost white) and decided I wanted silvery hair, after trying a bunch of horrible hair dyes came across chrome from Ion, skeptical I said why not I've been left down before/ The results were amazing, highly recommend only if your hair is very bleached blonde.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work at all!!!! All I wanted was to get rid of my ugly faded bleach hair, and it didn't take at all!!! I have fine hair, i have no idea why it didn't work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Color I bought this a few days ago after deciding that I didn't want to use titanium again. The last time I dyed my hair I mixed the Ion Brilliance lavender and titanium. It was gorgeous but faded a lot within three washes. This was with cold water and color safe shampoo. So finally, I decided to try this out! I bleached my hair platinum blonde and added the dye the next day. My hair is now a beautiful steel grey that can look silver, brown, grey, or purple in different lighting. I can't give a fade time since I've only had it on for a day, but I won't be surprised if the dye fades quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Grey Hair Dye! I started using this dye about two months ago, and I absolutely love how easy it is to maintain! I applied the dye with 10v developer to an icy blonde (toned with Wella T14), and left it on for about 30 minutes because I wanted a dark grey. The result was a shiny, even slate grey. It fades to a nice silver blonde after about a month of washing it in cool water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy peasy My first time. it was very easy and I was pleased with the results. Maybe I have fast growing or very resistant gray hair but two weeks later I see gray @ my hair line. I will continue to use the product because over all I liked the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really happy with the colour Didn't want too dramatic of a result and was very worried about my hair going blue. I started with only light blonde highlights but it took all the orangy/yellowy tones out of the brown and grey on the blonde. Very pretty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GREAT GRAY! Went to my Sally store looking for Titanium, but stumbled across the chrome instead. Figured I would give it a shot because all the reviews I read on Titanium were hit and miss, and the reviews on this were better. It also didn't look like it had all the blue undertones that titanium does. I purchased one tube, along with the ion developer, and I LOVE THE COLOR! My hair was bleached with a toner on it (bluer in some spots than others), and this took it to a nice, medium gray. I left it on for about half an hour, so it was a bit darker than I originally planned for, yet the outcome was so much better than I imagined it to be after my skepticism purchasing it. Highly recommended if you're looking for a dark gray, and dilute dilute dilute if you want a soft, silvery color! Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pewter this one is for a professional not Chrome I been mixing hair for a long time I used the Chrome, i had seen pictures , I'm happy I left it on for only 10 minutes with 10 vol my hair was already silver very light i thought I'd give this a try , I always add a little self mixed lilac mix ,but before I did that I had it Titanium is much more metallic with blue violet undertones bleached and toned to a level 10 , It's good but it's Pewter I would not call this Chrome,. it does shine I am looking forward to doing the ends lighter and giving it an ombre effect I have short hair that will be a trick but it's already pewter in the root ends so we will have to lighten the ends of the hair , Not Chrome they should call this Pewter and the Sample at the store is not accurate. sorry guys , but well metallics are tricky this goes on dark longer you keep it on and I the Demi I don't want it permanent not my color thanks I would recommend it as a pewter root color then work way out that way you have layers of the similar shades like titanic and perhaps lilac lavender and you see movement Guy Tang Style

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally silver! I have tried a few different ways to try and get silver hair and nothing worked bery well. I used one tube with 10 dev and it made my top violet and the length a brown grey and a hint of green because it was previously blue. I applied a second tube with 40 dev like a balayage and it pretty much fixed the. Length to where I wanted it. Yay!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you're transitioning... I've been grey/silver since I was 16 and now at age 38 my crown is 85% grey/silver. I'm in the process of going from a 2v (Darkest Plum) to my natural color. My hair was at a level 8 when I used this product with a 30 vol developer. The color is very nice and not too circus like. It has some blue or violet undertones but covers nicely and I think I've found a product I'll stick with for a while, the only problem is it's always out of stock at the store as I always to like the most popular color trend, ha! Luckily I can shop for it here online. Wish there was a place to upload pics of results!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Silver thats silver! I've tried EVERYTHING to get grey/silver hair, and this is the first product that ive got the color i wanted! Im a male so i have tried ever color to cover my new growth without nasty brassy undertones this covered most of my new growth fairly well! I mixed in a little bit of TITANIUM from ion to give it more of a silver and i dont actually think it was needed. I love the color it gave me, its a little darker than i was hoping but its definitely grown on me and i realized its going to fade really nicely. I will say my hair was a really light ash blonde (T18 Wella Lightest Ash Blonde) and the pigment in most colors usually leans more towards BLUE or PURPLE with my hair being so light, this color doesnt have have too much of either so my hair is a steel color that should fade to a really pretty silver after several washes! (the purple and blue pigments are still there for coverage but you cant distinctively see either to plainly!). I will say ive tried other colors that have made my hair feel a little better but ill take the trade for the amazing color! I would recommend diluting the color if you want a grey or pastel silver right off the bat! but i look forward to seeing how the color fades and using it again!

Does this come complter and ready to use or does it need to be mixed with peroxide or other products?

You need a developer or it will do nothing.

Can I use this for platinum highlights on a medium natural brown?

Asked by: Michelle86
Not unless you bleach the areas you want to highlight first. Color does not lift color, and so it would likely do nothing to your hair. If you did bleach it out, this color is closer to a dark gray than it is to platinum.

will this particular color take gold out of my hair

Asked by: sunsets47
These “gray” and “silver” demi permanent hair colors by Ion are particularly tricky. If your ultimate goal is to match the color swatch, it’s not gonna work on your hair if it has any yellow tones left at all. Now if you’re looking for a demi permanent color to use as a toner, this is perfect. So for instance if you bought the Chrome or Titanium, and your goal is to be Chrome or Titanium, golden hair will not turn using this dye to those colors. You are gonna end up with pale yellow hair with white ashy streaks or you’re gonna end up with “granny hair” that looks like it has nicotine stains in it, and it will look awful. If you want to use any of these colors as actual colors, you must go above a level 10, and anything gold isn’t gonna be light enough. It would be best to reach at least a level 11 or 12 even before using this color to dye. If you’re looking to just tone down the gold to get a more natural color blonde, Ion actually has a couple toners available that I actually prefer to use instead of using these demis. There is one called “Snow Cap” and I have used it on gold hair and got a beautiful ashy blonde on the first try. I wish you good luck and beautiful locks!

I know demi color turns out darker and to use lighter shades, I'm going for a medium/dark gray brown. If I mix this chrome color with 6n dark natural blonde will it give me the ashy/gray brown? Should I mix it with the 5n light natural brown instead?

Asked by: Cmiller8124
The chrome color is not dark at all, more of an ash blonde, so just decide what level of brown (5 or 6) you think will look best.

how would this look on reddish hair

Asked by: Gramme1044
For the demi perm silver and pearl the hair needs to be stripped to a light color the titanium will color over a slightly darker color but you still may not get the result you desire if you dont strip first.

Transition to grey:Will this keep my natural grey good while covering brassy brunette color on the  majority of my ends?

Asked by: Trueview
I've been growing out my natural hair color for the past 7 months. I have naturally dark ash blonde/light brown hair and over 30% gray. I also have a gray streak about an inch wide (like Stacey London). I had lightened my hair to a medium blonde that had turned very brassy during the grow out period. I hated the line of demarcation...my hair looked awful. I tried demi ash blondes, semi permanents, etc. All of them left reddish/orange tones in my hair. Hated it. I then used Chrome 1:1 with the 10 developer and left on for about 20 minutes. I did do a strand test prior to this. It worked exactly as I hoped. It toned the previously lightened mid lengths and ends to blend with my natural hair color. I can still see my grays (which I wanted), although I think they look gray highlights, but lovely all around. The chrome is fading out gradually, and my hair is going back to the way it was. I am stocking up on this stuff.

I have been using master color series demi for few years and I like the fact that it slowly washes out evenly but am confused as now says permanent...help!

Asked by: Annette M
These 2 metallic colors are permanent dyes meaning they are activated by a developer & saturate the cuticle more quickly because of it. The other ion direct dyes are meant to be added to hair without mixing with developer. Both will fade with each wash, but the permanent ones less so.
