Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap & works better on thicker hair For anyone leaving negative reviews, its mostly user error and not the company's fault. This works better with people who have thick hair trying to lift from dark to light. Obviously of you have a sensitive scalp and thin hair and/or don't mix it right, it will burn and fry your hair. And anyone lightening their hair should always use a deep conditioning treatment afterwards, this product is meant to lighten, ot doesn't claim to leave hair silky soft. Half the reviews I read were people complaining about burns and dryness. You're bleaching your hair! Of course it can burn if you put it directly on your scalp! I have thick dark hair and it lifts to a light yellowish blonde in a 30 minute sitting. Then I use Wella T18 toner and boom. Blonde. What works for one won't always work for everyone but this product works if used properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Formula has changed-not as effective as before I suspect that the formula has changed. It’s very runny and watery now. I redid my roots yesterday (2 parts 30 volume developer with 1 part prism lights blue bleach powder) with a brand new bottle of this developer and it lifted only about 50 percent than it usually does. I was left with orange roots as opposed to pale yellow. I bought another bottle yesterday thinking maybe it was just a bad bottle and redid my roots again. Unsuccessful. And since the formula is so runny, its hard to just put in the regrowing and it runs into your already processed hair. Shame shame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great I have been bleaching my hair for a few years, and this has been the only brand I will use, just because of how great it is.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked well enough I used this developer along with l'oreal quick blue lightener to touch up my (dark brown) roots, and was able to reach a medium golden blond after about 20 minutes, at which point I had to wash it out because I found it was burning much more than anything I've ever experienced with any other 30 volume developer I've used. While it was effective, I can't imagine what would've happened were I to leave it in any longer. For myself, I would not purchase this developer again, but I also wouldn't discount it entirely. I'm sure it works great for others, but if your skin is at all sensitive, I would avoid this developer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible So as a professional I might be harder to impress than the average consumer, however I used this to bleach my hair then the level 10 with my toner. It took 5 times over a period of weeks to get my platinum blonde that normally takes twice with any other developer. I would not recommend this brand at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very irritating I was using a 30V developer from Clairol with no problems. When that one wasn't available I decided to give this one a try. It gave my scalp a very strong, stinging/tingling sensation. It actually really hurt; my scalp still hurt after washing it. I'm not sure how different developers can react differently to your scalp but this one definitely didn't react well to mine. Will most definitely not repurchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ouch!!!! i have been bleaching my hair for 5 years. I used this developer with Ion Color Brilliance Powder Lightener i had a intense allergic reaction. My face was swollen and my skin was burning i sat in the shower with the water ice cold to bring down the swelling i will never use this product again i'm not sure what chemical i'm allergic to in this product when i use color brilliance sensitive scalp developer i never have issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I used this a few times with my favorite red dye to get the level I wanted and it was great! Especially for the price! Though I will say that my hair is always super healthy anyway, that might be why it has never ruined my hair. But it IS a 30 lift, so obviously if your hair is already fried, you probably shouldn't be using a 30 or any developer for that matter..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from more breakage with this product I don't know why one developer would be better than another but since I switched to this from Loreal, my hair has had more breakage and it seems to be harsh on my scalp when applying. I am going back to Loreal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good results and excelent price I found that Salon Care works just as well as the other developers I've used, and it's saved me sooo much money-especially during the time I was bleaching my hair often. I always recommend this brand to my friends.

what is the difference between 10 volume creme and 20 volume creme? which one do I use for my husbands hair?

Asked by: Linda698
10 Volume is very light and non damaging but will take longer to process. Volume 20 should develop faster with little damage to the hair. Volume 30 will develop the fastest but will do some damage to the hair most likely.

How much 30 volume cream do I mix with 1.2 oz. hair color

Asked by: Susannewk
You will need to refer to that specific color line because all color lines are not the same. Some color lines may be a 1:1 ratio while others can be a 2:1 ration.

I have thin, finer hair, but I’m worried this will kill it? Usually I use this brand but a 20... I wanna use black cherry again but want it to be lighter!!

Asked by: Olivia S
I use 30 volume developer if I need the color a little lighter. Black cherry sounds like a dark color. I don’t know how familiar you are with color but the number of the color is the lightness or darkness of the color and the letter is the shade.  For example a 5N would be a darker Neutral/Natural brown. If your natural hair color is a level 3 (darkest brown) and you want to lift it to a level 5 you could use a 20 or a 30 volume developer. If your hair is lighter such as a level 7 (mid blonde) or if it is mostly gray and you want to be a level 5 then I would use a 20 volume developer.  I hope this helps. Understanding the theory behind color and various developers you have to take into consideration the natural level and tone of your hair. Also, if you have colored hair, another lighter color will not lighten the present color that you have. That is when I would go to a professional for help.  That is considered a corrective color.
