Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very gentle ! I bought this developer along with the keratin infused lightening powder form this same line to do some free hand balayage highlights in my hair. Now keep in mind just in one week, I started out with dark hair (semi permanent dark dark brown almost black). I did a bleach shampoo with 30 volume developer - barely changed the color but nearly fried my hair, then after sleeping in coconut oil the next day I attempted to put a box copper color on my hair to add some copper and maybe lift out some more of the dark pigment- which basically turned it a dark copper with some red (cherry) tones. So from here I did cap highlights (drugstore) which overall lightened up everything to a nice coppery and warm medium brown. I bought this lightener and developer to do very GENTLE balayage on my hair to have more copper and lighter pieces and this product did not leave my hair feeling squishy and stretchy or compromised AT ALL. It is a bit dry, but nowhere near as compromised as it should be after all its been through! I highly recommend this product if you want to lighten or brighten already medium colored hair in a gentle way with minimal damage!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! About this to use for my blonde hair and from the moment I opened it the smell was wonderful No harsh smell there was a lot of conditioning to it and left my hair feeling great even after processing many times prior to this experience I will definitely be buying this product again and would recommend to anyone trying to be gentle with their dying process

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silver Hair Approved I've bought this twice now. I use it with my toner and I love it. I'm a platinum blonde and extremely picky about my hair products.

What should I use to get out the brassy streaks? If I use this do I have to mix it wth anything? Tyia

Asked by: Lisa34293
If you use this it needs to be mixed with toner which comes in a lavender tone, a rose tone, & a platinum tone. To remove brassy streaks you need lavender toner. You can use any lavender toner you want. Any brand. After you tone your hair & remover the brassy streaks be sure to use a blue shampoo & conditioner to keep your hair platinum. Ion makes a great "lathering toner" which is blue shampoo & toning conditioner but any brand will do.

I have naturally dark blond hair with a variety of light blonde / almost light brown strands, I want I lighten my hair 2 shades so it's still dark blonde but has more life would using this along with the lighting powder accomplish this ?

Asked by: Christianan
Instead of adding lightening powder which is very damaging just up your volume to 10. You can process for less time and get a good result.

I have dark hair naturally mixed with a handful of grey hair I'm touching up my roots which are long overdue. I have my hair a golden brown blondish. Will a 5 volume work?

Asked by: Kitty1331
I would use 20-volume or at the very minimum 10. You won't get much lift with a 5, especially since the gray areas are going to be more resistant and the darker areas at the best will turn in orangish color.

If I'm using the lilac blonde brilliance to get the brassiness out of my blonde, do I use the 5 deposit or the 15 lift developer?

Asked by: NikkiMidd
Use the 5. Let it process for about 20 minutes... it’ll pull the brass out.

What # developer should I use when coloring gray...having a problem with color staying on my gray hair...I color blonde

Asked by: Shannon6
20 or 30 volume clear or creme developer. 5 isn"t enough and 40 causes breakage.

Can this developer be used with black hair color?

I have naturally light blonde hair about a level 10 that I darken. I was wondering if I can use this instead of 10 volume developer since this is the only 5 volume offered at sally's. The demi developers are 6 volume but I want to be extra gentle to my hair.
Asked by: dagda2745
Definitely.. You are wanting only to DARKEN your hair..in other words DEPOSIT COLOR MOLECULES into your hair INSTEAD of displace or lighten it.lower volumes of peroxide do exactly that.. This should do nicely. And gently.
