It works for any color. It just depends if you’re using it to deposit color or lift color. If you’re using it to color your hair red, then yes. It will deposit the color into your hair. If you’re trying to lift or bleach your hair, then no..it won’t lift. 10-20 developer is for depositing color. 30-40 is used to lift color.

I bought the volume 20 also the 3oz shade shine color. Do I use the whole 3oz bottle for a full coverage for my hair? Also how much color generator do I use if I do use the whole 3oz bottle?
Asked by: Samaes33
If its 1:1 color ratio mix it'll be 3 oz bottle of color and 3oz of generator. If the color ask for 1:2 ratio mix that'll be 3 oz of color to 6oz of generator. If your using a bottle I just refill that with generator to make quick measurements.

I would use a 10 or 20 volume developer. Ion brand is my favorite.

How much Chi developer do I use for a Full head root touch up, combined with the Chi Dark- color Product?
Asked by: SamanthaHair
It should say in the instructions for your color, but usually it's 2:1 (developer:color) so if you're using 1oz of your color product then you add 2oz of developer
