Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ineffective for my hair type? I personally just think this whole line is no good. At least for me and my hair type. It may be great for some, but it caused an absolute hair disaster for me after turning my hair nearly black on the lengths but leaving my greys grey as ever and roots untouched

What do the Volume numbers mean? (i.e. volume 10/20/30)

Asked by: GrannyPJ
The higher the number, the stronger it is, and the more peroxide is in it.

I did a box hair color and my hair is brassy orange! I’d like my hair to like Pearl blonde. Would like to fix it on my own just need some advise on what to buy?

Asked by: Jennifer8976
You need to buy a toner to cancel out the brassiness. I'm not experienced enough to tell you which volume/color if toner to get, but something with ash or beige would be your best bet.

Which creme developer am I supposed to use with 10 minute Ion Color Brilliance? This information should be in the description and let customers know they have to purchase separately.

Asked by: Lisa1962
I think the box tells you which developer to use. I would suggest 10 or 20 volume depending on the colour of your hair currently and the colour you are trying to reach. Also- trust to use the same brand developer and colour- so an ion developer. If going same level or darker, 10 vol is fine. If going from a darker colour to lighter, use 20vol. If you are trying to go a lot lighter you probably won't get good results without lightening first.

do I need a developer when I use a demi hair color. I plan to use the Demi ion 3n dark natural brown hair color. what is the difference between the 10 volume and the 20 volume developer?

Asked by: ProtonGary
You need a 10vol for demi perm colour. The difference between 10 and 20 volume is strength of peroxide. 20 volume lifts more colour out of hair and is more damaging and should only be used if you are trying to lighten a couple shades.

What's the difference between developer 10, 20, 30

Asked by: Piglady1
10, 20, 30, 40 volume refers to the strength of peroxide in the developer. Peroxide is the ingredient that lightens/lifts you hair colour. The more peroxide the lighter your hair will get. 10vol = 3% peroxide and is usually used with demi permanent colours, toners, and when you dont need to lighten your hair to dye it (like when you are going to a darker colour) 20vol = 6% peroxide and is usually what you get in a common box dyes that doesn't require you to lighten the hair much. It's good when you are going a level/shade or 2 lighter 30vol = 9% peroxide and is often used when you want to go 3 or 4 levels lighter. It's also used when you are straight bleaching your hair. It's very strong and causes damage 40vol = 12% peroxide and is mostly used for bleaching many levels down. Basically fries you hair if you don't prep and use the right aftercare. Don't use this volume until you have more experience.

If a color shade is too dark initially how can you lighten up /at the ends?

Asked by: Connie love
If its semi or demi permanent dye just wash with a clear (clarifying) shampoo a few extra times. If its permanent you'll probably have to go in with a lighter shade of colour mixed 10 or 20vol developer and paint in a natural fade

What is the difference between a 10 volume Creme Developer and a 40 volume Creme Developer?

does this developer contain peroxide? what percentage? Can plain 3% peroxide be used instead and at what ration?

Asked by: balleyjp
The last answer was not correct. 10 volume developer is NOT 10% peroxide. It is 3% peroxide. V10, V20, V30, and V40 This VOLUME...... contains this PERCENTAGE of hydrogen peroxide 10 volume or V10 3% 20 volume or V20 6% 30 volume or V30 9% 40 volume or V40 12%

How do I use this product ? Do I mix it with my hair dye ? Do I use it to wash my hair before dyeing ? I really need some help

Asked by: Ashley 909
I use this with my ion liquid hair color at a 1 to 1 ratio. So if my liquid dye equals 2 fl oz, I add 2 oz. of this developer into a application bottle and shake it up to mix it. Let it sit a minute and then apply it to your hair. I start at the root and use a dye brush to apply it down to my ends.

I am a newbie to all of this, so I just want to know how all of you use this product. In general! Do I use it like shampoo, like a deep conditioner? I left my hair stylist back in KS when I moved to TX 6 mos. ago, and I need a touch up!

Asked by: CateB021
This is developer, you use it with hair color, you mix it with the hair color and apply the color to your hair and leave the color on to process. This developer is good for people who have very sensitive scalps as it won't irritate the scalp while the color is processing. Also, a level 10 developer is for depositing only, in other words if you just want to color your hair this is the developer you would use. Hope this helps!!

10 or 20? I am dying my blond bellami extensions with wella strawberry blond color. Should I use a 10 developer or a 20? How long will it take? Thanks!

Asked by: Alyssa97
I suggest you follow the results in the dye box. If it says 20, use 20. The hair might go slightly darker if you use a 10 (maybe not a big difference). It usually takes around 15-25 minutes for color to take but that really depends on the dye you're using. Just follow the instructions on the box you're using and you should be fine.

Can I use this developer with semi permanent color?

Asked by: Rosie
Yes. I use the Ion 10 vol developer to tint my hair darker and blend in my grey. I use 7NA (medium ash blond) with the 10 vol. developer mixed 1:1. On my fine hair I usually apply to my roots for 35 mins then add a little shampoo to what is left and "soap cap" the rest for the final 10 minutes. I never have tint lines when my hair grows out and generally my ends are lighter than my roots, which is very natural looking. I do not "soap cap" every time I tint (3-4 weeks). I usually only soap cap twice a year. Using the &NA with 10 vol for 45 minutes my fine hair comes out a nice med/dark brown with red highlights in the sun.
