Rated 4 out of 5 by from Consistent color results Using the Colorful Neutral Protein Filler for the first time I followed the directions and put it on my towel dried hair and waited 20 minutes. I then blotted my hair (not really needed as it was pretty soaked in) and applied my usual color. After processing I shampooed out the color and used conditioner. My hair was very soft and shiny and the color was pretty consistent from roots to ends. The only con about the product is that is was a thin liquid and I was expecting more of a creamy consistency. It was a bit messy during application. Next time I will use a spray bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!! Keep in Refrigerator. It works well with semi permanent color! Helps the color adhere to your hair and is also a protein conditioner. I’ve used it on my hair for years!!! Works on permed and now my natural hair. I presently rock a big RED Afro!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good! I'm going to give this a good review because I do feel like this has helped my hair color last a lot longer compared to when I've dyed it in the past, but I also had pretty heavily lightened the hair beforehand. I gave only 4 stars just in case that influenced it too much but I still think it did a good job.

I recently bleached my roots and then tried to dye my hair a nice strawberry blonde. My roots didn't take the color like the rest of my hair did (My hair was all blonde, I just bleached the roots as a touch up) will this neutral filler help hold color?

Asked by: Becky037
it will help hold color - I dampen my hair and apply the protein filler - then leave it on my hair for at least an hour before dying my hair - it makes my hair thicker and stronger as well

I have bleached blonde hair and I want to go to a pretty chocolate brown. My roots are dark and I have new growth but the rest of my inches are blonde. Can I use it before applying any color? What products do you recommend?

Asked by: Justmeli
I'd use the filler then use a semi permanent color, not a permanent color. Go 2 shades lighter than your root color or it will be too dark.

I’m planning to use this protein filler as pre color treatment before I dye my hair. Should wash my hair with shampoo then towel dry it then put it in the filler? Or can I just saturate my hair with water with no shampoo then put the filler in?

Asked by: Kay12390
I use this as a pre-color treatment as well, and I don’t shampoo first... I just saturate my hair with water and add the filler. I suppose if you had a lot of build up from hairspray or gel, you’d want to shampoo first.

I am coloring whole head. Do I put this is my bowl with my color and developer and then apply? Instructions don't seem clear.

Asked by: Kelly Kay
Two methods are noted. I apply to washed and towel dried hair for 20 minutes prior to applying color. No need to rinse. It can also be added to the color. Be sure to moisturize after treatment.

Hi. my hair has been bleached blonde for awhile. I have been letting my hair grow out naturally. I want to go back to natural med/dark brown. About 7 inches of my hair is still blonde. Please help me figure out what to do to take it all back to natural

Asked by: Lizajane
Depending on what color brown your natural roots are, you may be able to get the blonde brown. I did this by mixing a little medium Ash brown with a little 6N by Wella. I have dark hair, and wanted the roots darker and the ends a bit more ash for dimension. It came out really pretty and I had a lot of bleach before. Maybe consult with a professional. I just know my own hair!

How could you use this prior to a bleach bath/ soap cap?

Asked by: Tammysusie
You could use this before or after doing a bleach wash. If you do it before, you wanna wash your hair and then let it sit on damp hair for 20 minutes before you put the bleach wash on to make sure it soaks in. If you're leaving the bleach wash on for at least 20 minutes, you can add it into the bleach wash and do it all at once.

I just recently got bad highlights done that are blonde, yellow, and grey (a lot of my hair is still brown) I want to dye my hair to a very dark black. Will this work in order for it to not fade to green, if so how should use/apply it ?

Asked by: ErandyVA
Hi, do a pre color, if you want to stay light, most black and Brown's will have a green base, mix any blue base color with regular water and later that on your hair, rinse shampoo and apply a gloss or demi color to kind of cover the other color you might be left with, choose color on the light side of the brwn, sand or beige tones, and to all the process at the protein. Ps. I'm not a pro.. but do research a lot.

Is this a neutral protein hair filler? Is it designed to not add any color

Asked by: DrSaundra
No color is added if you use the neutral kind.  However, there are fillers that are colored (i.e., red, black or brown).  Always choose neutral when no added color is wanted.
