Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase For Toning Hair This is seriously the best product I've ever bought for getting the yellow, brassy tones out of my hair. I use it as directed and also sometimes directly on my hair when using dye instead of mixing it in with the color. The reason this packaging is more expensive is because instead of using the entire packet (like the other packaging), you only use 15 drops per ounce of color/bleach.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I am naturally a blonde and was at a level 7M which is a light brown with a violet base. I am trying to go back to a level 8G (which is my natural color). When I used this product I was under the impression that it would help pull out the reds from the violet based brown. However it did not do that at all. I still have a lot of red/ orange color in my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magic in a bottle! I add this to my powder bleach mixture, and it eliminates the red/gold tones when I bleach my hair a light blonde (my hair is naturally medium brown). These drops are purple, which neutralizes the yellow/orangey tones in hair. I don't have to use a toner afterward. It is time-saving and well worth it! One little bottle will last you a long time since you only use like 15 drops or so each time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly suprised! My daughter had blond hair. She put a semi-perm dark color on it that, months later, had not washed out. I used a box lightener to bleach her hair. Her roots where white blond and the previously colored hair was WAY brassy. I purchased an ash blond and was told to use this little packet to remove the red/gold. Somehow, it didn't make it in my bag. I did a test strip to see if the color would work without it. Minimal color change. I went back to the store and got this product, used it and am SO pleased with the results. I had to pay more at the store than the website, but it was really a value IMO! My daughters hair is a very pretty light ash blond with NO hint of copper/red/orange or yellow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hmmm... I have no idea why it didn't work, but it didn't at all. Also, when I read the reviews, I laughed - people can't open a package? OMG, I know what they are talking about. It's a mess, even when just one corner is cut. The liquid just runs over the package - make sure your surface is covered))))

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unconvinced I have a huge problem with my hair turning red when I dye it blonde. I used this for the first time and I'm not convinced it does what it claims to do. My hair is not brassy, but I think it's due to the hair color I used. I'm going to buy more and use it once a week with my shampoo, and hopefully that will keep my hair from turning red. The thing I don't understand is why the little packet is less than $1 but the little bottle, which only is double the amount (.24 oz I think) costs more than $6? I don't understand that one. The packet is a pain to use, it stills easily but it doesn't stain or anything. Overall I'm going to use it again. I holding out hope! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! My hair always tends to end up with some red tones after coloring, whether dark or light, but with this Ardell Red Gold Corrector Plus I don't have to EVER worry about red tones again! :) I use 2 or 3 packets per coloring session. The ONLY thing I dislike about this product is how easily the additive "escapes" the packet once opened! I am still trying to master that technique! :) Overall, great product! I won't color or bleach without it! :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from *Crickets* I have tried this product many times and it never really works for me. Last time I colored my hair, I added one packet to my violet based dye to get rid of my brass and it didn't help much. I then added another packet to my conditioner and let it soak for about an hour, and didn't see any difference. I dyed my hair again today and added THREE packets and still have some brassiness in my hair, although I did get a lot out due to Clairol's Second Nature No Lift Corrective Dye (which I've used before, it's amazing!). Anyways, it seems to me that this product works to a certain extent, but not if you have glowing yellow-orange hair like mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hair Saver! I love this! My hair ALWAYS picks up a red tone when I lighten or dye my hair. I used this product after using the Ion Color Balance Color Corrector to strip the black out of my hair. The result was my natural medium brown plus some reddish tones. Not horrible, but definitely wanted to remove the red without dying it another color. So I mixed this packet into shampoo and left it in my hair 10 minutes. The red tint was reduced by about 95% - amazing! (My mix was about 15 drops per 1oz shampoo. I had a 6oz travel bottle, and the math worked out just about perfect to empty the whole .125oz packet into the bottle and top off with shampoo.) I did not notice a purple tint or darkening effect - however my hair is not as blond as some other reviews suggested: I'm a light brunette with blonde highlights (approx. levels 5 and 8). I use this in my shampoo once a week to maintain and further reduce the reds. I will definitely try this next time I lighten or dye my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff This is a wonderful product. I mix it with my shampoo and it allows me to use any brand I choose and still keep my natural silver-white hair from getting yellow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful I have tried many hair colors and always eneded up with brassey redish hair from a dark blonde, trying to go up to a ash blonde. This product eliminated the red orange. I couldn't be happier. Now I can save a $150 every 6 weeks....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Yucky Orange Streaks!!!! My hair usually bleaches very quickly, and so sometimes we have to stop processing at the beauty salon. So then some parts are orange...I usually go super blonde. So when they leave me looking orange. I buy this product then it with a treatment or heavy conditioner.I let it sit for like 7 min. and there is no more brassiness!!!! Also add to shampoo to keep color looking great :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more brass!! Whenever I change the color of my hair I get unwanted brassy, orange, gold, and red tones. I bought this color corrector with low expectations. I added 7 drops for every ounce of conditioner and applied it to my dry hair, completely saturating my roots and hair on the crown of my head. I left it on for 15 minutes and it completely removed all the brassy tones and now I have cool ash blonde hair - exactly what I wanted!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effectively Banish Brass I have red-based VERY dark brown hair with 35% gray (naturally)which I double-process to very pale blonde. Not only do I use this product in the bleaching and toning phases, I add this to my every shampoo and conditioner as well. I also keep the brass away by adding this to my reconstructor treatments and Influx33 leave-in conditioner. My mother, a natural straight-up red-head who is about 70% gray, has me color her hair as well. I use this product in conjuction with 2 ounces of Clairol's Ash (drabber) to 1 ounce of Wella's Smokey Medium Ash blonde, and her hair is a gorgeous soft cool blonde.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I won't lighten my hair without it My naturally level 5 hair has unbelievable amounts of red undertones once it's lightened. I could bleach my hair within an inch of its life to remove it all, or I can just use this. Adds beautiful, natural tones to otherwise orangey/yellow results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT I noticed a brassiness in my haircolor and wanted to get rid of it pronto! I considered a shampoo like Shimmer Lights but while browsing the aisles at Sally's I saw that you could add RED GOLD CORRECTOR to your shampoo. I used about 15 drops for every 1 oz. of shampoo, left it in for about 10 minutes and rinsed it out. BRASSINESS GONE! Great product at a GREAT price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't Beat This Stuff!!! As a natural brunette who dyes my hair blonde, I can honestly say this stuff rocks!!! I have always had yellow undertones whenever going blonde. I went to my Sally's store and decided to give Ardell Red Gold Corrector Plus a try. Am I ever glad I did! Now when I add this to my color (it doesn't take much), my color turns out exactly how I want it to. I will never dye my hair without adding this to the mixture again. I highly recommend this to everyone!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK. I buy this to add to my shampoo and conditioner to keep the brassiness of my hair down. It works OK I suppose. I prefer UNRED for my hair dye because Red/Gold Corrector darkens it too much and gives it a purple tint. But for shampoos and conditioners, it works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Does What it Says I've been dying my hair blonde for almost 5 years now and absolutely WOULD NOT color without using this product. I've only colored without this product one time and I was sorry the moment I washed the color out of my hair. The red undertones gave me a strawberry blonde color that I was not at all happy with. The simplicity of use for this product makes it more than worth the small price you pay for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REALLY WORKS!! This product really works for ashy blonde hair that has gold undertones. My hair is a dark ash blonde & has always turned gold no matter what color I use at home. Even colors bought at Sally's. But w/these drops, my hair turns out exactly like the blonde I pick, which is a very light ash blonde. I can obtain a pale light blonde with these. I also put it in my shampoo bottle to keep the blonde fresh. I add 15 drops/oz to shampoo. PLEASE NOTE: The 0.125 oz is a much better deal than the 0.25 oz bottle. I buy the little tubes & squeeze them into an empty, clean contact eye drop bottle. WORKS GREAT!!

I do not artificially color my hair--want to use this to reduce some yellowish discoloration in my gray/white hair--can I mix it with shampoo or cream rinse?

Asked by: Nancy the voter
Yes directions say can be mixed with most anything. I do color my hair and fight red and it does work for me. You could also try the purple shampoos to cut red colors in any hair.

I use Revlon Color Silk 04 Ultra Light Natural Blond. I use the Red Gold Color Corrector Plus. 32 drops. My hair still comes out Red @ Gold. What am I doing WRONG ?????

Asked by: DSSHELTIES
Try a blue/purple shampoo /conditioner to eliminate the brassy tones. Aveda Blue is great .  The corrector results are very slight , it depends on your base color

Yes, but I don't know if that'll do anything. It's intended to be mixed in together with tint and developer when coloring the hair.

Can I use it along with gray magic drops? I have dark brown hair with resistant gray but often have some redish hair after dyeing

I use this product together with the Gray Magic. I mix both into my Wella Color Charm with a 30 volume developer. The results are fantastic! My grays are completely covered and the brassiness is gone.
