Colorfix Hair Color Remover

4 OZ |  Item SBS-002774

What is it?

One N Only Colorfix removes unwanted permanent hair color regardless of how long it has been in the hair. Controlled usage allows color correction to specific areas. One N Only Colorfix is designed for full or slight color corrections. From 6 to 16 applications depending on whether use is for partial or full color correction. Effective on all hair types - leaves hair in optimum condition. Does not contain ammonia, bleach or formaldehyde.

One N Only Colorfix is developed to remove oxidative dyes. Since most semipermanent colors are combination of direct dyes and oxidative dyes, Colorfix may only partially remove these.

What makes it special?
  • Removes Unwanted Permanent Hair Color
  • Easy to mix and apply
  • Contains Argan Oil
  • Cruelty Free

Apply to dry hair. Mix equal parts of Colorfix Part 1 Color Reducer and Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst in tint bowl or an applicator bottle. (Mix as much as will be needed for the density and length of hair that requires correction.) Wearing gloves and using a tint brush, apply quickly and evenly to the hair. If mixed in an applicator bottle, shake vigorously until thoroughly mixed (45 seconds to 1 minute).

Gently work through the hair to ensure even penetration. After mixing Part 1 Color Reducer and Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst, use as quickly as possible, since the activity of the mixture decrease with time. Cover loosely with a plastic cap, and process up to 20 minutes. Strand test frequently. Low, warm dryer heat may be used to speed processing time. Rinse hair for 3-5 minutes and shampoo.

If sufficient color is not removed, repeat Step 2 and 3 (this may be done on damp, towel-dried hair). Depending on condition of scalp and hair, do not repeat process more than 2-3 times. When desired level of color removal has been achieved, apply Processing Lotion for 5 minutes. (Due to the nature of dye molecules, it is possible that hair may redarken to an unacceptable level.

If it does, repeat Steps 2-4 on damp hair, until sufficient color is removed.) Rinse well. Dry hair with a warm heat setting. (A hot setting may cause scalp irritation.) You may now proceed with your color application, if performing a full color corrective service.

FOR SLIGHT COLOR CORRECTION (lighten color that has gone too dark or ashen):

Mix 1/4 oz Part 1 Color Reducer + 1/4 oz Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst + 1 oz shampoo. Wearing gloves, apply to damp, towel-dried hair. Apply only to the areas of the hair that require lightening, and work into lather. To determine timing, take a strand test frequently. When the desired shade has been reached, rinse thoroughly and shampoo.

Always strand test color formulas to be used prior to application. Remember, porous hair will absorb colors more quickly and the resulting hair color may be slightly darker. You may need to formulate 1-2 levels lighter than desired result. Always use a low pH conditioner after an application of Colorfix. This will help protect the hair, and return it to a more normal state.

One N Only Colorfix is developed to remove oxidative dyes. Since most semipermanent colors are combination of direct dyes and oxidative dyes, Colorfix may only partially remove these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Great! I had some black left in my hair from dying it several months ago. Quarantine impulses haha... I knew black was really hard to get out of hair and I did not want to use bleach unless I had to. I tried this and it worked like a charm, the black is completely gone. It looks like I never dyed it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weird results I followed the directions as written, but I didn’t use the 3rd bottle because is will turn your hair dark. That’s not what I wanted. It worked perfectly! My hair was a level 4, which looked super dark brown, and I wanted to get to a level 7 medium blonde. Here’s the weird problem... after I used Colorfix my dark brown hair looked great! It was a strawberry blonde color, but not the desired end result. After washing and drying my hair I colored it with a level 7 color and 30 volume developer. So, I’m thinking the strawberry blonde should lift to a medium blonde. Nope!!! That’s not what happened at all!!! My hair somehow is now the same dark brown that I started with!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great for stubborn blue / green & smell I had a blue-green shade that would not come out with anything so I tried this product and it did lighten the color but I still wasnt satisfied with the end result (i did the suggested 3 rounds). Another note is that it is very drying! Im sure everyone has seen other reviews talking about the smell and they are not exaggerating, the smell is very rancid and LINGERS. I only used it on a couple strands I couldn't imagine using it on all of my hair. I would only recommend this to those who are looking for a light lift and using it to replace bleached highlights!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works! had black dye over level 6-7 hair, pulled it all out after one go. smells really really bad—like awful. the smell rinses out after like 2 shampoos and it doesn’t smell when hair is dry. didn’t fry my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best I have never used a color remover or even knew one existed until I went to Youtube. My hair has been box dyed jet black for almost 10 years. I tried to dye it honey blonde and it only colored my roots. I thought I would have to bleach it and did not want to do that or go to a salon because that would be a fortune. I have natural hair except for the dye so it was in great shape. This remover was amazing!!! The only issue is the smell which lasts a week and LITERALLY smells like rotten eggs but for sure does the job. Once removed, it was the exact color I wanted to dye it to. Attached a before and after.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good Worked pretty well, but I feel like the formula changed and it's not as strong as it used to be. I removed dark grey only to a very dark orange, but when it was the gold box, I actually got the dark grey all the way to a light blonde with this alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! I’ve tried 3 other color removers and this is by far my favorite! I had purple, sliver, gray hair, and it all came out. I’d suggest gettinf two boxes and only doing the first few steps and skipping the last. About to purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to use Very easy to apply and works well, bought multiple times, would definitely recommend this over color oops that stuff is too complicated and smelly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works wonders!!! I dyed my hair with a Blue dark brown color. It wasn't the color that I expected. It looked black!!! My natural color is brown so I did a balayage with the blue and my hair looks horrible. So I bought this amazing product. It took off all the permanent color from my hair and I was so happy!!! It works & it a must have product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing! Worked better than bleaching for semi perm black. I had black on top of countless blues and purples and it lifted to an orangey bleached color. Only tiny bits of purple left, nothing the brown dye I plan on using can’t cover!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad for blue hair This does not work on blue hair dye and barely worked on brown

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Warning! Bought this thinking it was going to help and it did until the third step... only do 1& 2... ALSO SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smelly but works I dyed my hair from blonde to black and I hated it! I did Colorfix over lunch and it turned it from black to a mid-brown color in 20 minutes. The "lotion" was a liquid and I'm not sure if I did it right but either way it considerably lightened it. It had a rotten egg smell when I mixed it but after doing the recommended 2 shampoo sessions my hair didn't smell at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Works well if you use it correctly, barely smells. Easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy I bought this! USE HEAT. I had just bought this yesterday and was super skeptical on it based on some of the reviews but I am so glad I got it! I have lightened hair with a few layers of semi permanent purple and pink that would just not fade and wanted to get that out so that I could fill my hair with missing pigment and redo my black. I wasn't worried about the awful smell that people seem to mention a lot in the reviews because that is completely normal with color removers... it does stink but it removed ALL of my color! All of my hair was blonde again. Use heat with it!! Use a shower cap or something to cover your hair and use a blow dryer for the full 20 minutes. It says in the directions you can use heat. It will speed up the process and make it work much better. Seriously amazing product and I will be using again if I ever need too!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smelly Works pretty good, BUT the smell is so extremely awful no one should use, took about 7 shampoos to get the smell out of my hair and had to pour bleach down the drain
Date published: 2020-12-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Actually... really good I actually liked the results. I was told the smell was really bad but honestly is not so bad, is not pleasant but is NOT unbearable. I recommend it to get rid of permanent hair color, specially for reds and dark colors. If you read the instructions you'll be just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Word. Amazing I tried to find something similar to my natural color, and accidentally went way too dark. I thought I would have to pay to get it fixed because I used BOX DYE. Highly recommend!
Date published: 2020-12-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightened my hair I had put a brown box dye over my previously highlighted hair and a semi permanent green dye. It turned out a bit darker than I wanted so I applied color fix to the bottom layer of my hair and it lightened up to a caramel color. Overall, I am happy with how it came out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It sucked This didn’t lift the color out of my hair at all. It still remained yellow and couldn’t get the smell out for a week.
Date published: 2020-12-06
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not use I used this product last night, I have half blue hair, half pink. It did not lift anything. Still the same color, I followed the instructions used it twice! nothing worked at all. Has the worst odor ever. My hair smells like rotten eggs, and I can’t get rid of it. Please do not buy this product at all. I left it on for 30mins instead of 20. I have no lift at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removes Even Blues And Purples My hair is bleached white and I love experementing with demi colors and never seem to learn that blues and purples are a PIA to get out. This works great however for that and the smell has slightly improved. If you can get past the smell of sulfer like rotten egg then give it a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From blue/black to Copper Red Absolutely loved it.. It stripped all tha blue/black out and I was able to dye my hair copper red! Definitely will use again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removed the color! I love the fact that it removed that color from my hair! Only use steps one and two! Don’t use step three! All the other reviews saying the color comes back well that from using step three. The only down fall I have about the product is my hair smells like rotten eggs!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Garbage, DON'T BUY! Learn from my MISTAKE THIS IS THE WORST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED!!!! I bought this because they stopped selling my lovely ColorZap in stores (why?!) And the cashier reccomended it.. I admit I have a layer of semi permanent underneath a couple of layers of the permanent dye but I wanted to go back to that color, so I figured at least remove the dark permanent color... I used this product twice and followed all of the directions.... it removed NOTHINGGGGG.... all it did was make my hair smell like rotten eggs and my scalp get irritated! I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND!!!!

I have layers of black semi permanent dye on my dark brown hair. Will this product just take the black out so I’m left with my natural brown color? Or will it lighten my hair more then that?

Asked by: Amyloder
As it says on the box next to the Name of this product, this treatment is only for Permanent Hair Color, not semi permanent.

I have dark brown hair and have been coloring it a soft black for over 30 years ,now I would like my natural gray to come through . will this take all the black away to show my natural grey an if so how many application would I need ?

Asked by: Boabanna
It a color wash it will lift the color but it will take a lot to get to your natural gray.  If you use it make sure you wash and rinse your hair at least 5 minutes.  You will have to do more than one treatment.  Even then it won’t take it all the way it will give you lighter hair.

Does this look like a natural color after use, or does it turn orange and must dye hair after?

Asked by: NWhistle13789
It depends on what your hair looked like before applying color, it also depends on the color that you've dyed it and where it is on the color wheel. This product dissolves artificial color, if you were blonde before dyeing your hair and you dyed it something warm toned it's likely to be brassy and/or dark. You will likely need to dye your hair after.

Is one box enough for approx. 1 inch past shoulder length, thick hair?

Asked by: sophia87
The last thing you want to do is not hand enough product, and be looking crazy going back for box #2 . I'd get two. It's a great product, chances are if you do your own hair at home, you'll use it again.

I've been dying to get a deep purple..however due to being cheap, have been unsuccessful. My roots will always absorb the color best.... will this color help me, and what do you suggest to get that purple??? Thank you

Asked by: Amanderr
After Gathering all the reviews as well as the description of this specific product this will not color your hair. I can refer you to what I assume that you are looking for, I am shopping for a safe color removal due to getting married unexpectedly too soon to have my hair the way I pictured it to be in my wedding photos bcuz I dyed my hair a deep purple not knowing this wedding was in my so soon future (weeks apart from the coloring till the wedding day) here is a color to look up for if it is the look you are aiming for and the color you will NOT get from this colorfix color remover.. Try out the L'oréal Feria #V28 PowerViolet. Good luck!

How soon after getting my hair colored can I use this. Got my hair colored at a salon and it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it

Asked by: Bridgett94
The sooner the better as long as bleach wasn’t used. If it was, wait about 10 days for the hair cuticle to calm down again.

I have naturally dark brown hair and I dyed it black if I want to remove the black will it lighten my natural hair color too or will it only lighten to my natural hair color bc I don’t want to go lighter I just do want black

Asked by: Emylie02
This product will help lift the black out of your hair, but because your hair was chemically changed by the black it will not go back to the exact shade of brown that you had it previously after the black is lifted.
