Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff when used right Just touched up my balayage (I only do this once a year, and don’t color my hair otherwise so my regrowth is virgin) I use the weave and tease technique, 20 volume developer (the same brand) in foils for 30 min and run the blow dryer on low over the foils for the last 10-15 minutes. Shown is a picture before and after toning, you can see it takes me to a nice pale “inside of banana” blonde and then I tone it with Wella 8a demi on dry hair. Easy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Underwhelmed I’m in the process of lightening my hair so I can dye it the dusty violet. I’m a very dark blonde to a light brown so I expected it to be that beautiful orange-yellow the first go round. I used 20v developer the first time and wanted to make sure I didn’t have to do this a third time and used the 30v developer. Well, I washed it and it was still orange-yellow. Looks like I’m going to have to do this a third time anyway. I will be buying the quick blue instead next time. This one doesn’t seem to want to lift my hair past a 7.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from hair on a budget first Ion makes great and awesome products. For me, This lightner was gentle on the scalp. BUT it only lifts 4 or 3 levels . The smell was ok no bad odor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good So I liked this the first time I used it, did the job. Lifted about 4 shades lighter with the ion sensitive 20 developer. But I recently started using the ion color brilliance creme oil lightener! It has just changed the way my hair looks after I bleach it. Less damage but more lift!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok I bought this to really lighten my daughter’s hair from a light brown to a Golden blond. I used it with 20v, left it 40 mins and it did an ok job. For some reason, not for lack of product, she still had some areas that didn’t lighten much. In the end it won’t matter as we are putting teal on it in a few days, but I was underwhelmed at the overall results. I was very glad, however, that it didn’t tear up her hair at all. Still very soft, not dry or brittle.

Hi there! Been using Ion's demi permanent 9NG with 10 vol developer on my mostly white hair. Looks good, but washes out quickly. Would using the 10 vol developer with this lightener give a blonde that grows out instead of washes out? Thanks in advance.

Asked by: cdngrleh
I use volume developer 20 to cover my grey and I use a permanent color. It lasts almost 3 months.

Honestly I purchased them by the packet. They were priced like, $1 each so I ended up just buying 3.

I have dark red hair right now, which is the best way to go back blond? Or maybe donblonde streaks in my hair and slowly go back to blonde that way??? What do I do

Asked by: Amanda8788
My hair was almost black (after being red previously) and the highlight method was the recommended. It's easier on your hair and not all one crazy color while the red works it's way out. Doing this method was amazing and my hair is soft, nowhere near dry in any way. My stylist weaved highlights in the the first time, all over. Your lightened hair will be caramel colored but will blonde a tad with toner and purple/blue shampoos. After 2 weeks you can lighten again, this time doing more slicing instead of weaving. Your previous caramel pieces will be blonde and then the newly lightened will be caramel. so in 6 weeks you will essentially be perfectly blonde.

Is the bleach white or blue?

Asked by: Lulu1010
Depending on the type or brand, many turn into a blue, purple, or violet color, to try and help cancel out the golden and brassy tones that happen to hair that is lightened.

Hair faded too quickly to recolor. Rep had me get colored violet masque. Bleached almost white and recolored 2 weeks after masque. Now I have a blue streak that he showed up 1 week after new color. Will this bleach pull out the blue?

Asked by: Ramona42
I would try washing the streak with baking soda first before bleaching again.

If your going to bleach your hair, is it best to wait two weeks before dying it or you could do it the same day you bleach it?

Asked by: MsCarissa89
You CAN dye in the same day but I personally wouldn't.  The least amount of time I would wait is 3 days.  Your hair will be very porous and will probably take the color darker than you intended.  Waiting a week with deep conditioning treatments until then would be ideal.

If my tips have been bleached a long time ago, and I have red dye over that lightened area and I want to move up so it's not just my tips but about halfway up my hair, what volume should I mix to try to get a decently even tone? I'd dye it soon after
