Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never been blonde, almost stayed this way Hey everyone. I hope this can help a future me from making a few mistakes using this product. I am by no means a professional, but have been coloring my hair very successfully for over 20 years now. I always get stopped at least once a day to compliment or ask about it. Red is my absolute favorite color so when I was 15 I decided I wanted to be a red head. My hair was a dirty blonde to light brown. And I didn't want natural red I wanted in your face red. I think I started off with bright reds from l'oreal in a box, I used those for years but they where fading so fast and honestly I hate the actual PROCESS of doing my hair, inlike the results. So I discovered Sally Beauty and I decided to be bold and use Loreal High color highlights FOR DARK HAIR ONLY amd at the time they only had a line of reds which was perfect for me, I just did RED but it worked so well if they where out of red (I will have pictured below) which was SO RED I wpild just get magenta which was SO pink and there was no problem going back and forth. I used with a bottle, gloves and 30 developer. It was way brighter and prettier than ever but was fading super fast still, thats when I found ions red hot pigment conditioner. Omg, I didnt have go touch up anything for 9-12 months and it STAYED BRIGHT! That brings me to this product, I never had to use a bleach or lighter in my hair...I never really wanted to bc go say the least my hair is so hard to tame as is. ....but I got bored and maybe a quarter life crisis and wanted mermaid hair. Yea. So I got this along with ion sensitive scalp 20 developer and left on about less than 30 minutes and below I'll put before, 1st round, 2nd round then blue. But I am the most impatient person I've met and because of that, my hair, longest it's ever been halfway down my back has broken so much it's above my shoulders, one side is VERY noticeably shorter and I have not once touch scissors to it. :( Instead of waiting 2 to 3 weeks before going for round 2, I did the next day.....BAD. Before waiting a bit then to put the color on after back to back bleaching, I did the next day. BAD. Aaaand I shouldn't of blown dried and straightened my hair ALL OF THOSE DAYS EITHER. Smh looking back I want to kick myself. But I bet if I would have just used a 30 developer and left in longer I wouldnt of even needed a second application! So now I am getting ready to start a new job and rednwould have been fine they say, but no blue. Sigh im not going back to any color right away I just want to get the blue out asap and I hope this does the trick in one round bc I start in 2 days. That was a lot but thw stuff works, I'll add on when I know about the blue. This time I didna coconut oil mask in my dry unwashed hair for 3 hours bc I dont have overnight time....and will be adding directly into oiled hair starting at roots and mid length waiting 20 minutes then going at roots. Cross to fingers for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for fine, level 7 hair! What I love about this lightener is how gentle it is. Yes, you are sacrificing lift for conditioning, but since my natural is only a level 7, is takes very little to get me to a level 10. Plus, my hair is baby fine, so I love that this bleach can get me there without being too harsh (I use 20 vol. developer). I do couple this with Olaplex for the back sections of my hair (since it stays there longer than the front). But even if you don't have Olaplex, this is still an extremely forgiving bleach. As for neutralizing yellow tones, I can't really comment on that as other lighteners I have used in the past have gotten me to this same tone (Loreal Quick Blue and Schwarzkopf Blondme), so if you have darker hair, you would be a better candidate to judge the neutralizing properties. I always tone after bleaching anyways, so yellow neutralization is not important to me in a lightener. Personally, if I can still get to a level 10 with a softer bleach that leaves mild yellow tones, I will use that over a stronger, harsher bleach with more toning properties. Attached are photos directly after touching up 1cm of regrowth (before toning). And after several retouches now, I strongly recommend this lightener for people with a lighter natural base that don't need the strength of a "7-9 LEVELS OF LIFT!!!111" bleach. Also, I've used this product to help bump up portions of my blonde hair that were more a level 8 or 9, so this lightener is a good option if you need additional lift to previously lightened hair without resulting in something Brad Mondo would react to. But of course, know the integrity of your hair before slapping any bleach on it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have... true to it’s saying. I bought this a few months ago. And I’ve been able to do my hair and nephews hair over 6 times. A little goes a long way. It doesn’t burn and true to its sensitive statement. I used it with the ion developer 40 & 30 . I highly recommend it over other brands.

How many levels does this lift?

Asked by: Black to Red5RR
It depends on the level developer you choose! I had bright red red red hair dyed of course for 20 years wanted to go blue so I used this with ion sensitive scalp 20 developer and it left strands of very very light pink but my roots and most of my hair was platinum. I waited only a few days (DO NOT DO THIS, IF YOU HAVE TO GO OVER, WAIT A FEW WEEKS AND ONLY GO OVER PARTS NEEDED.) No need to damage hair more than it needs. Anyway, if I bet if I would have used a 30 developer which lightens 2 to 3 times rather that 1 to 2 times like the 20. It will do more damage though so either way I suggest doing an OVER night coconut oil mask on unwashed, dry hair and in the morning apply directly to oil saturated hair.

Is there a burn and itch free Lightener (bleach). I have tried different additives that you sell which also includes hacks like not shampooing for several days prior, Sweet & Low and Coconut Oil. Any suggestions for this process w/o the burn?

Asked by: Drooks5300
I dont think there is such a thing where you bleach and it not itch or burn a little but this brand is great for sensitive skin like me. I would suggest to make sure you brush easy and not on your scalp, have dirty hair (or dont wash for a couple of days) so you have more natural oils before applying and try to avoid getting it on the scalp whcih is harder than you think.

I need help with my hair my hair was naturally brown now I died it blonde after about five boxes of hair dye I do not use bleach so my question is Can I bleach my hair after I used a lot of box dye? And my hair is a light yellow blonde currently.

Asked by: Good luck
Hi, It depends on how long you have waited in between each dyeing of your hair, if it was me I would wait at less 3 to 4 months after my last dye, and I would treat my hair with extra conditioning & hot oil treatments to make sure my hair is healthy before dyeing again, bleaching is very hard on your hair, myself I wouldn’t use bleach on my hair,  I would try to use a lighter color of blonde dye, before bleaching, I use the ion hair dyes, on my hair, my sisters & my mom’s hair , the ion  products are very good & leaves your hair very soft & healthy, I hope this helps

What is a blank canvas? Someone suggested to use it to color my hair not sure what it is bleach? I dyed my hair with box dye not bleach, it turned out a light blonde , and on a review someone’s said to bleach it. Won’t that fry my hair and fall off?

Asked by: Blonder505
Absolutely DO NOT bleach your hair right away. Give it some time to heal and for the box dye to fade. Bleach doesn't work well at removing box dye and you'll get a really patchy dye job.

Will this take out the blue Ion pigment?

We do not recommend lighteners for contemporary color removal. There are options though! Give us a call at 800-859-3112 for a one on one consultation.

What does 1:1 mean?! It's a whole tub, there's no scoop. One tablespoon? One fluid oz of powder? Wtf? Why couldn't they put basic instructions on the package?

Asked by: Magicwanda
A 1:1 ration is whatever measurement you use. If you use 1 tablespoon of powder use 1 tablespoon or developer just make sure its always equal. You can make as much as you need depending what your'e doing to your hair.
