Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good, ok for grays I used to use 3N Medium Neutral Brown in Clairol Professional Premium Creme Haircolor 10% Devl. It covered gray & lasted a tiny bit longer, fade and coverage. The fade in 3N Dark Brown Ion Color Brilliance Permanent Creme 10 minute Hair Color is not bad. But gray covers not as good if you lower the devl to 10%, calls for 20%. I am 53 and I have about 10% gray natural color sepia brown hair straight oily scalp thin stranded hair lots of it 25inches long. both colors make my hair darker, nice neutral black - non blue and it doesn't look harsh. I leave it on for the recommended 15 min for gray coverage. I have been mixing it up at 15% devl. to lessen damage a small compromise. I would like to use 10% but it doesn't deposit as well. This brand it is a lot harder to rince out. I think the shampoo they give you to Neutralize processing is also to help you to get the mix color out. It stains very very quick.so lay down plastic. Don't get picky on parting your growth. crooked parts are ok. its very important to get product on quickly. To do it on my hair not someone else, I cut the opening of a 8oz bottle so it flows better as it is thicker bowl type. I find a bottle easier to use on my own hair. Do not skip the pre treatment spray ion color brilliance not included in box. Only the shampoo and color is in the box. I also have added colorful neutral protein filler on my hair. no problems adding it but I have not substituted it for the ion color brilliance pre treatment - only added it. I recommend this for dark hair. the slightly less gray coverage is very slight, no problem as shaving about an hour off my process is worth it. I would process the Clairol 40 min plus take more time applying it. Give it a try in a neutral color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QUICK I used this hair color last night. I chose to mix two of them, the dark brown and the medium brown. I have mid-back length hair that is very dark brown naturally; however, the top and sides of my head are gray (with very little gray on the back side). I generally color my hair as a root touch up; however, about once a year I will drag color all through my hair to even everything out - last night was that night. I also have very coarse hair that is quite unruly. I followed the package instructions to the "T", including the pre-color treatment, post color shampoo and post-color treatment. I used the volume 20 developer and had about a half inch of gray at my roots. **BEWARE** This color has a very fast processing time! I left it on my hair for about 15 minutes, because of the coarseness of my hair as well as needing the gray coverage. When this touched my hands or skin, it was a pretty immediate stain that was either hard to come off or did not come off. I was able to keep up with keeping it off my face, but what touched the palms of my hand stained and I could not get it off (even with acetone!). That alone told me to really watch my time with it on my hair. Ok, so after 15 minutes, I rinsed and shampooed with the shampoo that was included in the color box (please please remember to use gloves even with the rinse as the instructions say!). I could feel that my hair was incredibly dry and brittle, so I used the post color treatment and really worked it into my hair to get the snarls out. I left that in my hair for about 5 minutes (working it through the whole time). After that, I could still feel that my hair was dry (less dry than initially though). I then used PM Supercharged Moisturizer and left that on for about a half hour while wrapped in a towel. I rinsed that out and my hair felt decent -- really no more dry or damaged than it was originally, and even wet, I noticed it seemed to have a "sheen" to it that I haven't seen in my hair for over a year. I let my hair air dry (which I never do because it is so unruly), but to my surprise, although it was wavy, it had a very nice shine/sheen to it when it had dried. When I woke up, it still had the same brilliant sheen. The overall color is perfect and exactly what I wanted. I was glad I mixed both the dark brown and medium brown so it didn't turn black with just the dark brown. Time will tell how long it lasts, but I will try to remember to post again with an update in a few weeks. Overall, I wills say this is a great color so far and I would recommend!
