Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage and shade. 6NN Light Intense Brown is fantastic for covering the gray. It's much better coverage than 6N which I've also used. I was worried that the color would turn out too dark, but it was still a really nice shade of light brown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Permanent hair color This product provides great coverage for gray and great conditioning. I have been using this product for several years and have gradually moved to a lighter shade. I was concerned about coverage with the lighter shade and it works well as long as I apply some heat during processing. I will continue to purchase!

Is "6NN Intense Light Brown" lighter than "7NN Intense Dark Blonde"?  The sample colors on this web page look like so.  How will these colors on grey hair turn out as a result?

Asked by: Serious Operator
I have not used these colors specifically yet. But I plan to! Generally on hair colors the # indictates how dark/light it is. The lower the #, the darker it is. My natural hair is a 2. So a 4nn would be a medium dark brown. A 7 would be headed towards dark blonde. And on up to light blonde from there. So the name and NUMBERS indicate that the dark blonde WOULD be lighter than the light brown. I am going to try using the brown as a base color and the blonde as a highlight color when I do my hair next. If it turns out reverse...well thats ok too. Then I can let you know for sure! But I'd guess the #s are correct and the images incorrect.

Currently I use Wella Color Charm and mix 7N (1 oz.) and 8N (1/2 oz.) and mix with 2 oz. 20 vol. developer. Would using 7NN of Wella Age Beautiful work as well with the same color effect on my hair? Would I still use 20 vol. developer in the same amount

Asked by: Scully girl
I would go with 8 nn because it is double pigmented and yes 20 volume for gray coverage.

My hair color is med to light brown. I want to go blond. What products bleach hair blonde?

Asked by: Irisgreg
You should use a high lift color; something that intended for lifting several levels and always follow the instructions. Hair color and be tricky and pay attention to the base tones of the color you are looking at. It is easy to make a mistake and pull too much gold or even red undertones.

Do I need to purchase anything else other than what's in the box normally buy hair color at Wal Mart Thanks

Asked by: cinnlynn
Yes! You will also need to purchase 20 volume peroxide and gloves. Buy the bigger bottle and a box of gloves and this will cover you for the next several colors treatments.

I have used the 4NN and then 5NN and they both turn my hair nearly black. Am thinking now that maybe my hair just really takes the color and maybe I should try the 6NN but it seems quite light. Want nice dark brown.

Asked by: DonnaLynn
I used to use 5n and wanted to go a shade lighter so I had my stylist do highlights and then only did the regrowth with 6n and now 6nn. I really like the color.

How long will the color last, will it turn orange when it starts to fade?

Asked by: Rachael Zarazua
I mix 4 colors, light golden brown, dark golden blond, intense dark blond and intense medium blond. The color begins to fade around 3 weeks. I have no orange coloration, just a lighter overall color.

My hair is dark ash brown. What developer should I use to go to 6NN light intense brown.

Asked by: Bobbie Sue
It depends on what hair level you are. Level 1 or 2 I would use 30 volume. 3 or 4 20 volume and level 5 10 volume. Level 1-4 mix half ash as well to neutralize the red underlying pigment.

I'll be using Age Beautiful for the first time in shade 4NN with 20 volume developer. I plan on processing for 45 minutes to cover my grey, but I'm concerned about dry out? Should I wait and pick up the ion Absolute Perfection kit to add, or go ahead?

Asked by: LilSweetLin
I would go ahead and color. Are you only covering the roots? Or are you coloring all of your hair? I do not have damage from Age Beautiful. I love it.

Ok, so I used this product to cover my gray hairs and it is way too dark. Is there a way to lighten it???

Asked by: Nwatson1
My personal experience has shown that just by shampooing my hair, the color will lighten even if it is a permanent hair color.

Iam a first user and i have a question do i put the devaloper on before coloring or mix it with the coloring mix?

Asked by: Martinez
Hi! In a small bowl (non-metal) mix developer and cream color together. 2:2 ratio.. 2 ounces (60 ml) of developer with 2 ounces (60 ml = 1 full tube) cream color. Mix well then apply to your hair.. start at roots first. Leave on for 30 to 45 minutes then rinse well. Condition first, rinse and then shampoo and rinse.

Good afternoon, I've pretty much always did my roots (to cover gray) I always used an ash color because I tended to go brassy, I heard that for resistant grays that might not be the best choice. Also I going a little lighter I have highlights that I love.

Asked by: patrice barbara
I have the same problem with brassiness and love this color. It works great even on my resistant grays.

What shampoo and conditioner should I use?

Asked by: Mohini Balgobind
I use John Freida for brunettes shampoo and conditioner. I found that the tint emphasizes the color and leaves my short cut with a shine. I've also found that by washing my hair every other day with rinses on off days tends to prolong my color as I age. Also washing in lukewarm water also retains color longer.

Asked by: Joekaydoodle
First what color are you going to use, is it close to your Natural hair color??? If it is then I would suggest using the 10, if your just wanting to cover your grey and blend with your natural hair color.. I hope this helped!

Do you shampoo hair before you color

It is not necessary to wash first. Instructions tell you to wash your hair to remove the dye so your hair will be clean at the end of the process.

I have dark brown hair with a lot of gray on top and sides. I use 3nn , it works terrific. I would really like a brown black, but anytime I deviate to 1 shade down I hate the red that shows. If I mix 1 pts 4nn with 2 pts 3nn, will it work?

Asked by: Artist68

I'm actually trying to go grey and I picked up the 3NN. I dont remember if it possibly looked like a gunmetal grey or not. How would this turn out on bleached hair? Already transformed from dark brown to yellow lol toned it and now pretty white.

Have medium brown hair with blonde highlights but they are kind of orange you looking with this color works for me? My natural color is light Ash Brown and I'm trying to go back to that.

Asked by: Najo1224

My natural hair color is dark brown and I am about 75% gray. I have been coloring at the salon with light brown. I want to go to a lighter color. If I use 7NN with volume 20 developer, will it lighten the salon color?

Asked by: granifer

How can I return my hair to my natural gray? Then consider a very light color?

Asked by: sliquinn

I use 8N only on my roots (highlights done at salon), but want to switch to NN for grey coverage. Unfortunately, 8NN is the lightest color available and I am concerned it will be too dark.  I use 20 volume developer. Any suggestions or opinions? Thanks

Asked by: Cammy123

I have medium-light brown hair, highlighted by the use of dark blond permanent color. I switched a semi perm color (no peroxide, no ammonia) on roots the last 3 touchups. The ends are going black. Is cutting them off the only solution?
